    Never thought my barber shop would be covered in insider. Got to know many things about him through this video. Recently it has been tough time for him as his shop in Pondy Bazaar got flooded thrice in the month of November. He is a cheerful and a orthodox person.

    I'm an agnostic, borderline atheist, but I truly appreciate this man's opening rituals. Giving thanks and showing gratitude every day for what he has in his way must bring a profound sense of pride and home to his business. It's an appreciation that every business owner should have.

    I like how the show hasn't changed much, gives thanks and prayers to everyone around him, has opening rituals, and is genuinely concerned about the welfare of his clients is refreshing. I've never heard of scalp massages but I think it's a good idea

      So enlightening you a bit .. the word shampoo comes from india word champoo which means scalp massage which was done with traditional or cleansers… Brit’s got inspired and stole the concept and name.

    As an Indian I can guarantee there is nothing like authentic INDIAN massage. And this is what you will get to see in most of the barbar shops across the country.

      It's the techniques which are authentically Indian. Outside they don't do what we call Champi. There are different methods all over the globe, this is as Indian as it gets.

    I've had my head massaged before in a barber shop. And quite honestly, it's one of the last things I'm always look forward to after my cut is finished. I always give tips to my barber since he's the only one who is able to make me doze off after that massage.

    I used to get my haircut in an Indian barbershop when I was in a student exchange program. The barber was from Chennai and we would talk about everything while he massaged my scalp. Oftentimes I would be on the verge of dozing off. It was so pleasant!

    In Malaysia, there are barber shops run by Indian descendants like this as well.
    It was pretty surprising for me when I first went into one and they started massaging me after the haircut but I appreciate the hot towel on my neck afterwards.

    You can't walk past without wondering about the old vibes this place gives. It boasts a humble 10 feet store entrance but full of 50s vibe. Another place that talks tradition is Narasus Coffee. It's few shops away from this one.

    a good head/scalp massage feels amazing. it feels so different from when you give yourself one versus someone else doing it. you can try and replicate it, but it feels different. getting one or giving yourself one are both good for self-care.

    This shop is on the way to my office. I am seeing him daily, when he is not busy in his work. He greets people walking by his shop wearing a smile on his face every single time. That's something different of him and other usual people i watch everyday here in chennai. Eventhough his shop is far from my home, I wish to go to this place for haircut.

    I can say that South Asian barbers and Turks are one of the few I know that offers head and back massage to their customers, they are no masseur but the way they take care of their customers by giving them services like this shows how they take barber profession seriously. I worked a long time in the GCC in Middle East where most of the barbershops there are staffed by South Asians or occasional Turks every time I get a trim, after haircut massage are always given by the barbers which is greatly appreciated

    I go to a Turkish barbershop. And have been for the last 15 years. I’ve been going to the same guy. He always runs my head before and I love it lol. Sometimes he didn’t and I would get mad lol. It feels sooo good.

    The head massage is not necessary or important for a good haircut at all, which is why I love that he does it for every customer. He goes above and beyond, respect.
