Hi kev stef here Julie's husband I put concrete pads in a meter square x meter deep depending on the soil that support steels and the weight of 1st floor of a house numerous times recommended by building control good luck
Hi kev and Claire, more signs the better so have both, you have done a fantastic job of turning this place into what it is so far and looks amazing but you will continue to improve it which is brilliant, you guy's are awesome 🙂👍
Hi kev it's amazing how the flooring makes the garage look bigger! With the sign just remember that people will see it for a very short time so keep it simple. What a quick year and your content has been so varied and interesting. Keep up the great job you're doing!!!!!!!
You have done well Kev....its not easy to make a decent living in the car trade but if you source good cars and look after people who have genuine problems, thats the way forward....
Appreciate that Dave, truer words have never been spoken, it is hard in this trade no doubt, we are finding it harder than ever........but I do love selling a lovely car.....and buying a lovely car......and cars in general 🤪🤪🤪🤪so we will carry on whilst we can 👍👍👍👍👍👊👊👊
Hello from Ireland again Kev. Those floor tiles are very cool. So easy to fit. The place has come on brilliantly. Great job Kev. Lovely Z4 bro, lol. 🙏🙏👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
You can cut out sections for each jack, get a engineer to give you the size and cement strength of each pad. This has been done everywhere as a retrofit solution.
I thought that would be ok to be honest but im no engineer so thought id ask you kind people as there is a wealth of knowledge out there.....nice one bud 👍👍👍
^ this is the correct way. You just need a smaller section cut out. You will need to dig those pads down depending on the soil a few feet but a structural engineer can write you up the spec of it. It will require them drilling pilot holes to check it all out first.
These guys are right Kev. At the end of the day it’s you who will working under it and your safety has to be your principal focus. (Good TH-camrs are hard to find so we can’t afford to lose one!😬). Floor looks great!
The floor tiles make a night and day difference to the presentation of your show area but what really jars for me all the time is your store area at the back on the right hand side and I think you would well to get hold of a couple of cupboards to store all of your cleaning supplies.
Glad you like the floor tiles Phillip, interesting what you say about my shelving unit, I actually really like that because I go to it like 50 times a day and having to open a cupboard door every time would drive me mad 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Really enjoy watching your progress Kev. Don’t scrimp on the support for that ramp. We don’t want it collapsing with you underneath. What are we going to watch then!
Great video guys! However I don’t think your brand colours lends itself to the sign. It will be hard to see grey and white as it blends into the road/pavement. I wouldn’t worry about the matching colours to your brand just go bold and bright to grab attention!
Absolutely right - most visible is white on blue - close second is white on black. Traffic is moving so it’s got to stand out. (I make signs for a living).
@@VisionPrestigeCars think high contrast - for traffic you’ve only got a second or two to catch their attention. I do love the shop and you’ve done a great job resurrecting it!
Hi Kev & Claire 😃 I agree with the comments made earlier regarding the colours of the sign, maybe a stop sign at the top and then the words ( Thinking of selling your car ? Call in and talk to us ) nice bold letters red background with large white bold font. Loving the checkerboard floor it really looks the part. You and Claire should be proud of the work you both have done ( not forgetting Dad ) lol to get VisionPrestigeCars looking like a professional quality car dealers. Can’t wait to see the shop finished I am sure the installer of the lift will know the best foundation for the legs Kev. Keep smiling Kev & Claire 😀 Tom
I think kevs signs a winner sorry Claire 😂 with the slab , you don’t need to be 8” deep unless your lifting vans everyday , 6” slab is more than enough for what your lifting would make each slab atleast 2m2 and drill tie in with rebar
So much better already Kev( was it my comments that spurred you in to action 😂) Love the idea about the curtain for photo suite and handovers. Don't trust us builders,we all have different opinions, get a structural engineer to design the pits and roof supports to get rid of those columns.
I think it was you Karl🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪...it was all your fault......abusing the brickwork....the forecourt and then the workshop floor 😩😩😩😩😜😜😜😜👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍think I should probably thank you 👊👊 It would be cool to get rid of them roof columns....leave it with me 👍👍👍
Kev, as a couple of others have said it's pretty straightforward to cut a couple of pads out and drill into existing slabs with re bar to stitch it all together. Put a decent foundation down and strong cement mix it'll be perfect. You can even set the bolts in for the ramp to save drilling. I'd definitely look at getting a structural engineer in, they can tell you what it needs for the mix and foundation and how to get rid of those daft columns. Wouldn't take a great deal to brace the roof. Lots of builders can do the work (it's very simple) but not many know the calculations to make sure it all stays where you want it to. (Up in the air) Great vid as always, keep them coming.
Super flooring really keeps with your first rate image,, The best sign was Clares one as it has more impact and more important the phone number is easier to read by a passing motorist. On the lift yes go with a simple dig out square and reinforced concrete , it will be good to go..
As some one has said speak to Bendpak and they’ll tell you how big the pads need to be. It’s very common to add a pad in an existing floor to accommodate a ramp The floor looks so much better, the edge would look better (imho) if it was all black or matched the first tile The “wrong” alternating does my OCD in Have you considered joining one of the independent dealer web sites for buying cars ? Keep up the good work 😊
Hi Kev, the business is looking great mate, credit to you both!! The garage flooring looks unreal, but what's it like for stationary turning the wheels on etc? I'm thinking for a picture area but it won't be wall to wall if that makes sense.
Hey Guys, thanks for the kind comment, the place has got a way to go yet but it's deffo looking better. The flooring is mega, doesn't move under turning wheels etc, real easy to clean....im going to order a load more soon and add to what we have so far.....then change the lighting etc and see what we end up with 👍👍 Just watched a couple of your walk around vids.....lovely cars.....great unit but the flooring looks as bad as mine.......think you may need to indulge 🤪🤪🤪
Wasnt quite sure what the reasoning was for digging the concrete for the lift columns? Is it because your close to a join? If so, doa test drill to check the concrete depth, if its ok on depth for the anchors then as long as you are 125mm from the edge you would be fine as tht base has most likely been down sub 20 years so its as hard as it can be and you could always make steel spreaders to bridge the surrounding pads and joins, I had to do this with mine. My next door neighbour is a structural engineer so i got him in and over a beer he came up with a solution that worked and saved me digging up the floor 🙂
As it’s a two leg hoist I would say both legs need to be in the same base. So from a safety point of view I would say you’d need a reinforced slab giving you a metre all round. As regards the floor you can see it’s a patchwork with a filled in pit etc,I’m not an expert but I did work in construction all my life. My advice would be to get professional advice.
The pillar is holding up roof, why can’t you put a few rafters at top ? I notice there isn’t any spread the load even From top and move post closer towards the wall.
The master jedi had an apprentice the sinsei had teacher ocd in lots of things manifest in things we do. some things are as we want them others we aspire to you will get there by the route you have chosen but be strong and crack on
Think I’d speak/email Bendpak and ask them for their recommendations regarding the ramp foundations, they’ll know the correct specs rather than a local builder.
A friend of ours would know exactly what concrete mix you would need and could obviously advise you as he has his own unit that he has built himself. He has a ramp in his unit too which hubby helped him build. I will message you if you need me to
Problem with that sign. Its not an easy colour scheme to read as drivers drive past, just looks like one of those signs you'd ignore driving past. You need a colour scheme easy to read by folks driving past and something that doesn’t look grey/white dull boring and easily ignored.
i would just sell the ramp you have got and get yourself the mobile ramp that you can move around and even take outside to steam blast chasses of cars make life easy then no need to concreate floor then just screed the floor and paint it job done

Hey Liam, thanks for the feedback glad you like the floor....and the Z4 🤪🤪👍👍👌👌
After watching your earlier videos and seeing your garage floor at home we did the same to ours! Really does make a difference😊
Ohhhhh ive impacted someones life 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪happy to have helped 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪👍👍👍👍😜😜😜😜

May be worth checking if fitting oversize steel pads under the ramp legs to spread the load would be an easier solution.
I was thinking the same it could be a couple of mtrs long so would spread load
Really enjoy watching your progress Kev. Don’t scrimp on the support for that ramp. We don’t want it collapsing with you underneath. What are we going to watch then!
Ha! Nice one Tim, id really like to be able to put our van on the ramp so will make sure its safe don't worry 🤪Thanks for the kind comment 👍👍👍

Looks epic Kev ,what a difference,it now looks high class.
Floor tiles look great well done. Sorry Mate Claire's sign stands out better with more definition. 😉
Do both signs kev people will notice them more keep up the good work
Hi Kev, can’t help with the ramp issue but that flooring looks mint 👍👍
hi kev you did a great job of the floor . nice signs
Appreciate that....nice one 👍👍👍
Looks superb Kev is it also non slip? Keep up the superb honest work you do
Appreciate the kind comments James 👍👍And yes.....it's non slip too 👍👍👌👌👌
Flooring looks great👍
Nice one Andrew 👍👍👍

Floor looks miles better but agree with you on the edge, I would have it all black!

Only trouble your going to have now Kevin is keeping that new flooring clean when you start mixing concrete for the slabs of concrete for the ramp😢
I think your plan for the ramp is fine your not lifting HGVs just family cars. The floor looks great
Floor looking good Kev
Wasnt quite sure what the reasoning was for digging the concrete for the lift columns? Is it because your close to a join? Looks fabulous
Nice one John 👍👍
Looking good kev keep up the good work fella cheers jerry g 👍
Appreciate it Jerry as always, nice one 👍👍
If you do a metre square around each leg and 12inches deep it will be ok. I’ve done a few for garages and never had a problem
Looks great Kev
Love the floor Kev
Glad you like it Craig 👍👍👍
Weld some legs onto the ramp uprights to make it H frame.

Please make the front layer the same colour as the trim edging. 😮
Perhaps use a structural engineer to design the solution and a builder to implement the solution for the ramp.
The pillar is holding up roof, why can’t you put a few rafters at top ? I notice there isn’t any spread the load even
From top and move post closer towards the wall.
Hi Kev, have you looked at leasing a 4 post ramp?
Re the lift , did you think about asking the manufacturer of the lift ?
White font on a light grey background, that's a very catchy combination. Did you let your missus design it, fella?
The master jedi had an apprentice the sinsei had teacher ocd in lots of things manifest in things we do. some things are as we want them others we aspire to you will get there by the route you have chosen but be strong and crack on
Blimey Barry thats a mouthful........🤪🤪🤪.....I will endeavour to be strong and crack on 👍👍👍👍👍
Think I’d speak/email Bendpak and ask them for their recommendations regarding the ramp foundations, they’ll know the correct specs rather than a local builder.
Hmmmmm, I did get a load of instructions etc from the guys we bought the ramp from so I'll have a look at them too 👍👍👍👍
👌👌
A friend of ours would know exactly what concrete mix you would need and could obviously advise you as he has his own unit that he has built himself. He has a ramp in his unit too which hubby helped him build. I will message you if you need me to
Trevor (hubby) is saying you can’t put it straight on that floor
Flooring is Cushty
You really should get a structural engineer to design the base for your ramp. Get it wrong now & end up paying twice.
I suggest a structural engineer and get it done right. You only have one life and it's worth more that a few extra grand!!
I think the sign writing needs to be black so it stands out
Problem with that sign. Its not an easy colour scheme to read as drivers drive past, just looks like one of those signs you'd ignore driving past. You need a colour scheme easy to read by folks driving past and something that doesn’t look grey/white dull boring and easily ignored.
