I have flown all over Europe this last month. I used the clear zipper bag and never had a problem until going through security at Edinburgh. They require a resealable ziplock bag. Coincidentally they have them right at security and I had to repack all of my liquid into that little flimsy bag. Of course it didn’t all fit. Thank goodness my husband was with me so he could take my extra liquids in his bag. Just be prepared for all the various rules.
The last time I traveled alone, they were *super* strict about liquids, oils, aerosols, even solid hair gel! I ended up having to throw several things away. The limitations get punitive against women when you consider all the liquids involved in makeup, hair, and body products, so the contact lens case idea is a great tip.
Thank you! I find packing for liquids to be the biggest struggle when travelling with a carry-on. Having curly hair, i require a ton of hair products and the tiny bag they allow for makes it tough to pack everything I need :(
Dry shampoo also works great to freshen up the armpits of any top you wear that you're unable to wash right away! Also gets grease out of clothes.
Oo nice tip!
97cents hand sanitizer works well as deo for underarm as well...it works great:)
LUSH soaps, shampoo and lotion bars are a lifesaver for carry-on for me.
I don’t typically use them at home so they can live in my travel bag.
Genius 😃
simple, straightforward, and complete :) Excellent video!
+Katherine Swanson aw thanks Katherine!
Also I find it more environmentally friendly to refill GoToobs etc. from a regular bottle. The little travel-size bottles add up in terms of plastic waste as well. Also I use organic skincare products and these often don't come in travel sizes...
+Maria Carabin totally-- great point! Thanks for watching Maria :)
Biore makes a powdered face wash you mix with water. One less liquid! Thank you for the video tips.
Nice one Ann! Thanks! I'll look for it !
I just discovered your channel and I love it! I'm planning a trip to London for the fall (coming from Chicago) and it's nice to have some London tips and general travel tips from someone who's not a student studying abroad. Nothing against them! I'm just a little older and my needs are different. :) I struggle with packing my skincare in my carry on. I have really sensitive, acne prone skin and I find if I leave a step out, my skin goes crazy. No one wants to have bad skin in vacation pictures! Between the skin care and other liquids though, that little clear bag fills up fast....
+KristiAlwaysSinging Hi Kristi, thanks so much, so glad you found me :) I'm a bit older than students too so I create videos for people like us. Have you tried just getting things like shampoo and conditioner when you arrive to your destination? Also, try to find some liquids in solid form, like soap, perfume, etc.
Consider body balm instead of lotion! A solid bar that gets softer when you break a piece off, much easier :D
Great tip!!
Any suggestions on where to get body balms? Is that something sold at Lush?
What I have noticed about Airlines. The items that are confiscated at some Airport I feel is because not all security is completely aware of what is allowed and what isn't. So it can be confusing to travelers when each airport they go to the staff is not aware of the policies on what people can carry in their carry-on. I had an aerosol in my checked in baggage and flew from California to Colorado. I got to Colorado and it was in my suitcase, when I flew back from Colorado to California I opened my suitcase and when I got home and my aerosol was gone. People say that they're able to carry nail scissors in their carry-on, but some people were not allowed to. So to me it's obvious it comes down to whoever is working security at the time and if they know the policies or not whether stuff will be taken from you. We also have to realize that they are human and they are not going to catch everything. They may use machines to scan people's bags but I'm sure that things have gotten through that shouldn't have at times nothing is infallible! I just read on this site that dry shampoo should be put in your check in baggage, but if you decide to carry it on the plane it is up to the TSA agent whether they will allow you to bring it or not.
love your video, i struggle with sunscreen and hair products (shampoo and conditioner) when going away for a week +
I love this video but it's really got me thinking about how to pack my skincare and makeup into a carry on. I'm too much of a priss, there's no way a contact lens case will fit enough foundation to last me 14 days but I don't want to put that stuff in my checked bag IN CASE it gets lost or stolen! Ahhhh!
Thank you so much for this video I am traveling next week with friends it was out the blue. So I started researching especially since I know things have changed and I have curly hair so I need my hair products. This was really helpful and the links for the usa. I'm glad its amazon since I am a prime member. I just want to make through security swiftly and now I feel mire confident I can. I will come back to comment how it went. Thanks again.
Even if you are checking bags, put your toiletries in your carry-on, along with a change of underwear and socks. Then when (I say when not if) they loose your bag you are OK for the first night.
Thank you. You're really helpful. I'm traveling to Australia soon. Glad I found your video. Subscribed :) x
Happy to help!
We're heading to London in July, just a few more weeks. We're super excited. I have many questions and your videos have been SO helpful! Thank you! One question on the toiletries, I know it's 3oz per item but my question is HOW MANY 3oz items can you carry on? Is there an overall total oz/ml limit?
They all need to fit in a quart-sized clear bag.
They allowed me to really stuff things into it --i.e. laying some items sideways at the top of the bag, as long as the bag would still close.
I usually travel more locally, but I always struggle with shampoo/conditioner. Sometimes I use smaller size bottles and other times put them into travel clear bottles. Other than that, most of the time I don't bring many cosmetic or toiletry items (no perfume or body items other than soap or lotion, a few face creams and a few cosmetics plus deodorant and a comb and hair ties).
Totally! Thanks for commenting and watching Katie :)
You're welcome. I Love to watch travel and packing videos LOL. Also if youre going with someone else, maybe one of you bring shampoo and conditioner and the other bring a hairdryer or extra towel or something?
Lol i've often accidentaly brought illegal stuff on flights like knives, ritalin (without permission), lighters etc. Luckily I never got caught but i will remember to check my pockets and also the hidden pockets inside my backpack next time
Uh oh! :)
Lighters are okay if they're the small ones
Can contact cases go with contact solution as a declared item? And can makeup in oz/g pressed powder or compressed cream (not liquid) go in the dry bag, or does it have to be in the liquid bag? (I.e: a compact case of makeup, not pump foundation) lastly, can bar soap be a dry item? P.S that was the most descriptive helpful video I've seen on this so far! Thanks!
I tried using roadeavour's travel kit and its great! Try it too!
I am currently packing for a week long trip where we will be going to Disney land, the magic castle, and a wedding. I’m struggling to pack my face wash routine. I’ve recently started using proactive and I know my face will freak out if I stop using it but the bottles are 4 oz a piece 😩
Hey Kassidy! Get those refillable bottles I was talking about and put some in them so it’s less than 3oz, easy peasy
Love and London I’m gonna see if I can find a kiosk to get the little travel size of the face wash. If I can’t then I’m definitely gonna find the refillable bottles
I've heard a few times tat "liquids" also include lip glosses, mascara... has anyone else heard this?
+I That's What "i" Said yes, those are liquids :)
What! News to me.
@@katiethomas5889 Yes, it has been mentioned to me several times in my travels at the airport.
OMG You deserve more subscribers! I really love your channel 😍
Thanks!
Great idea with the contact cases!
Thanks!
I'm traveling to London later this month and have read horror stories online from people who weren't allowed through security with a clear quart-sized toiletry bag like what I have and like what you've shown here. Some people have had to transfer everything into an inevitably smaller ziploc bag, many times having to throw away about half of their stuff. I'm relieved to see you use a bag like mine, but I guess I'm just at the mercy of whatever security agent I encounter that day. May just end up checking my bag on the way home. Do you know people who have had trouble with that sort of zippered toiletry bag (especially at Heathrow)?
Hey Peyton, I think since filming this I once had a little trouble with that medium-sized bag I showed. But that one is bigger than quart-sized. So bring as little liquids as you can... usually what I do if traveling carry-on only is just buy things like shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen etc. at the airport or once I arrive, that way I only have a few little liquid bits I need to carry-on.
You're not allowed aerosols like hairspray or dry shampoo on a carry on. They will throw it away.
+carolineb3400 Hi Caroline, I ALWAYS travel with those in my carry-on and never had them taken away as long as they are under the liquid limit. Has this happened to you?
+Love and London Yes, this happened to my mom when we flew international. We are flying out again in September and I'll see if they do that again. I did read somewhere on an airline website that you are allowed to take aerosols with you, like you said, but I don't know why they threw ours away. It was a small hairspray, under the limit. Thanks for replying! :)

I have never had s problem as long as it's travel sized.
True, everything flamable (with a picture of fire) will be thrown away.
Very helpful video !thank you:)
I had to buy refillable squeeze bottle from online because they dont sell in my country. I live in asia and alot here is hard to bring for travel
Glad you were able to find them! :)
Can i pack my daughter's cough syrup (100ml) and nasal spray, my eye droplets and an antiseptic spray in a different clear bag, or do they have to with our toiletries??
With the toiletries unless they're prescription.
i packed them seperately, told security and it was fine. i guess it depends who's checking and what mood they're in :)
Also the limitations are per person, so maybe they counted them as your daughter's liquids? TSA told me you don't get away with "going over" as much when you travel alone. My eye drops and nasal spray counted towards my liquids quota. Really tough to fit everything a girl needs into one little bag!
@@mb-cee140 Discriminating, esp, as most terrorists are still male 😜
What about tampons and pads?
I love your blouse, thanks for the info.
Tbh at JFK airport they never made me take out a 3-1-1 bag or said anything about the liquids i had that where way over 100ml
That's because the TSA doesn't ever pay attention at JFK... it terrifies me everytime I fly out of there!
Love and London that makes sense it is pretty busy and thanks for responding to my comment
Don’t try to take over 3.4 oz in a carry on. Pretty soon we won’t be allowed to have liquids at all because SO many people think rules don’t apply to them.
Tina Jackson I don’t cause I am too scared of getting arrested or something
Can I pack any toiletries in my checked suitcase? Or only in my carry on? I've never flown before.
Hi Jami! That's a great question. You can pack liquids into a checked bag, and it can be any size. Just be sure to bag them up well, in ziplock bags, so if they burst, it won't get all over your other stuff.
Ok, thank you for letting me know. I'm nervous so every little bit of information helps! There's so much I can't live without!
You're welcome Jami! Don't be nervous, if you have more questions just let me know :) Also, you'd be surprised how little you really need, which travel will teach you! And don't forget you can always pop to a store if you need anything :)
+Love and London Thank you for the help! I'm only going for three days so I'm trying not to pack too much.
Good thinking :)
TSA says to use the original bottles to confirm contents on the labels.
Probably meaning for medicines and such. I have used separate bottles tons of times and never had any problems.
Grace Leal she’s in U.K. TSA doesn’t apply to her U.K. different laws Europe different laws
I was of the understanding that you are allowed only 3 bottles @3 oz or less, and they are to be placed in a separate qt size plastic bag. Has this rule been revised?
This is a very old video, so maybe!
Great tips! Thank you.
+Catharine's Life you're welcome :)
Thanks for sharing 😁😁😎
I am thinking of takeing a carry on & suitcase. Where do i pack everything??? Im going on holiday for 1 week. Never been on holidsy before so dont know how it works
Thank you. When it comes to check-in bags, is there also limitation to carrying liquid?
Nope!
I have a Mario basescu facial spray and it’s the biggest size with is about 200 and something ml ...if I put that in my luggage(not my carry on) is there a limit for that too?
Nope :)
Love and London thank you
i have a daughter and its festive here in africa so we travel a lot can you do packing for a family on for christmas holidays thank you
+lorato marumo Hi Lorato, thanks for your comment! As I don't have a family, I'm afraid I don't have much experience packing for one, but I'm sure if you do a quick TH-cam search you'll be able to find plenty :)
Hi. thank you so much for the info. :) Is it really necessary to use clear bags to put them? and where do you put your toiletries is it in your hand carry or the ones that undergo x-ray? (Flying to Italy soon. First time so I am really anxious)
security needs to see the items inside the bag..it has to be clear one quart sized bag for all liquids in carry on luggage...hope it helps...have a great trip!
Thank you so much! :D
Yes it's necessary. They'll usually ask you to take the liquid bag out of your suitcase to go through the xray machine.
Thank you so much for responding! :)
Is it fine to bring full size products in my checked in bag?
It is :)
It means 100 ml each right ? Not all of them totalling to 100 ml
Right
Can they be over that size in the regular luggage That you check?
Yup!
100 ml is actually 3.4 oz
Can I pack a disposable razor and toothbrush with my liquids in the quart bag?
Just liquids :)
Are all travel size items/containers 3 oz? I don't know anything about travelling or packing for myself, this will be my first vacation packing for myself so I'm trying to get everything right so there's no errors at security.
It's best to always check because sometimes things come in small bottles but are more than 3oz! So just look on the bottle to double check. Remember that only the liquids have a limit, if it's a bar of soap or something solid then it can pretty much weigh whatever you want.
Love and London Thank you! one more question, does the 3oz rule apply to liquid foundations? it's probably a dumb question since it's liquid, but just checking because I wanted to bring my Too Faced Born This Way foundation but I don't want it to be taken away at security.
Yes the 3oz rule still applies. Try only taking what you need.
ᵉᵏᵃᵗᵉʳᶦᶰᵃ it does because it's a liquid :)
is it necessary for the bag to be transparent?
Yes!
The liquid one at least, not sure on the dry bag. That may be by choice.
Right :)
Any suggestions on how I can fill my face cleanser that contains salicylic acid to a squeeze travel bottle? Can't really bring the whole bottle...
Use those little bottles I talked about, they'll work!
Are food bags ok for keeping things in
Yes, as long as it's a quart-size bag. Ziploc/reclosable is best to prevent spillage.
Are you allowed to bring eyelash curlers and tweezers in hand luggage on a Ryanair flight? Love your channel!
Thanks Niamh! Yes you most certainly can bring both :)
Thank you!
What about nail clippers and small trimmers?
Yes!
surprised that she is UK based. Whenever I fly from Gatwick i have to use their ziploc bag, I can't use a clear bag like the one she has.
I've never had a problem with those clear bags at Gatwick except for the time I tried to be sneaky and use the larger version and they were like ummmm nope... too big.
Your video was so helpful. I just need a clarification, a 100ml of cream is not enough for me since my skin is really dry. Can i separate a 500ml cream into 5 x 100ml drug stores containers?
or is a 100ml per liquid type ex: cream, shampoo, conditionner.
thanks in advance
+Aisha Keita nope! You can separate the same liquid into different containers, but you need to be able to fit them all in to a small clear plastic bag, so you can't have too many! Thanks for watching Aisha.
Omfg thank you for making this!life saver. This is UK right? Xx
I'm going to Amsterdam with just a carry on in a few weeks and this was super helpful!! Thank you so much!
Does the 100ml rule mean per item or for everything?
+beckez Yay! Glad to hear it. It's per item, but all of the items must fit into a medium-sized clear plastic bag (like the one in the video). Have a great time!
Can you bring a straightener in your carry on?
+Tay bri you can! :)
Love and London thank you!!
does 24pieces wet wipes is needed to be in liquid etc too?does it not solid?
No wet wipes are fine :)
Really surprised to hear that you take tweezers and razors on board. I was pretty sure you weren't allowed to - at least, tweezers?!
+Ana Isabel Canhoto it seems like they'd be a problem but they both aren't on the restricted list and in all my years of traveling I've never had a problem :)
So does the bag have to be clear?
+Cutex Creations You got it-- a clear bag for your liquids. Can be a ziploc bag if you don't have a clear carrying case like me.
+Love and London thank you but what about stuff like makeup and lipbalms?
Any makeup that's liquid/cream form will need to be under 100 mls/ 3 oz too, and should go in that clear bag. Make sense?
+Love and London yeh thank you so much x
Welcome!!
Is that the small or medium sized bag?
Erm--- I think medium, but I'm not positive!
Can we pack our makeup stuff in carry on
Yes, just remember the liquids rule
So helpful. OMG
+Who is Dejah Denise Glad to hear it!
Can I pack a lotion that is 3 oz or does it have to be less than 3 oz? Great video by the way!
Up to and including 3oz :) Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Just subscribed to your channel!
Thanks Ariane :)
is it allowed to bring aerosol cantainers in planes?
Hi there! This video helps to answer that: th-cam.com/video/aakue_EF_EY/w-d-xo.html
is it 3oz each or total?
+ButtKickin' Filipino each, but they need to all fit into a medium-sized clear bag!
+Love and London only in ONE clear bag? ( Ur videos were so helpful!)
You got it Kim-- only one! Glad I could help :) :)
What a great video
Thanks Sheila :)
Great video
+M & M Brothers thanks!
shoes are the problem. I have large feet and have to wear closed shoes (no sandals or little flats. they take up so much room.
+Jane Drewel I have really big feet too Jane :) the trick is to wear your biggest shoes on the plane and then stuff your packed on with your rolled underwear and socks. They'll fit loads!
where can you purchase the refillable bottles
There's a link in the description of the video :)
Thanks :)
Is it one quart bag per person
Yes!
Nice
what razer you put on the bag?
+Jeiss Rodriguez just a disposable one!
Thanks you save my life hajajaa
I always try to fit 2 or 3 refillable bottles with conditioner because my hair dries out easily and then I barely have room for my other toiletries. Oops.
+maggiehanna I know what you mean-- I have super-long hair so I need lots of conditioner. If I'm going somewhere for a few days (and especially if I'm traveling with someone who will need conditioner too) I just buy a normal-sized bottle when I get there--- or grab one in the airport.
Jess--You are brilliant. QUESTION: The hotels/apartments we are staying in on our trip supply hair dryers. Fine. Can I plug in my expensive, American, hair iron? If not, which adapter kit should I get? Visiting England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. Many thanks!
Hi Lara, thank you so much! Check that your hair iron is dual voltage (a Google search will help) and then you'll need an adapter with two options-- UK and EU. You'll likely want to just get a "universal set" like this one: fave.co/2gUY7Tj
Don’t just get any make sure you get THESE ones
I was the thousandth like!!!
Woohoo!
u r not allowed to take tweezers and razors in carry-on
+Valerie Hm, I've taken them in my carry on tons of times, for years, and never had any problems! Have you Valerie?
yes your allowed to take them on!
I don't think you can take tweezers in a carry on!
I do all the time, for years :)
Hotels provide toiletries
Some do, yes!
Ferry Anolin not all do and they aren't always the best products. People have skin sensitivities so the things hotels may or may not provide could break them out. Also the ones that provide toiletries don't provide enough for most people (esp women) to get ready with!
Does anyone know if clear plastic bottles and spray bottles thet are not labeled 3oz on the bottle but they were labeled on the package, but I don’t have the package anymore, will they know it’s only 3oz
Generally, they can tell. They're not measuring it or anything, but they can eyeball a small bottle and tell if it's way over. A lot of travel products (empty bottles) that you buy will tell you they hold only 3 oz or less.
Not everyone is staying in a hotel
is it 3oz each or total?
+ButtKickin' Filipino Each! :)
Thank you so much!!
Welcome! Thanks for watching :)
