Such a beautiful and powerful song, and a great introduction to U2.

The lead singer is Bono. Welcome to the deep deep well of U2. They have amazing music spanning from the early 80's to today. this one is one of their mid-80's hits and there are so so so many to choose from it's almost impossible to pick just one lol. they are just as amazing live btw. Try The Unforgettable Fire official music video from this same album. Their performance of Bad during the Live Aid 1985 is also incredible

The song is about Martin Luther King.
This part speaks for itself if you know a bit about history:
    "Early morning, April four
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride"

Yes. Also about Jesus. “One man betrayed with a kiss”. That line is about Judas.

The song was going to be a protest song about Reagan's leadership but having read about Martin Luther King and Malcolm X he changed it to be a tribute to them and what they fought for. It wasn't specifically about them but was inspired by their stories

Keep exploring U2.. amazing band with so many hits. Then do not forget to watch some of their live stuff because that is where they really shine.. in stadiums. Not a concert.. its a spiritual experience.

Gotta do a reaction to Rebel Yell from Billy Idol.(the official concert music video from 1983) & The Cult's Wild Flower. Both are guaranteed to bang your head.

I know the song is about MLK abd have no problem with that. But it reminds me too, of JC, Prince of Peace, 'one man betrayed wirh a kiss' ' they could not takeyour pride', even as he died. 😪

This song is about Martin Luther king being shot, it's deep.

  • @selfrealeyes

Although they were already pretty successful at the time, I feel like the release of their video for "Where the streets have no names," on MTV took things to a whole new level & was part of what went on to attain them legendary status.

Everyone always says that this song is about Martin Luther King, but it's more than that, it's about Jesus too 'cause he also says "one man betrayed by a kiss" remember Jesus was betrayed by Judas w/ a kiss. As Jesus said "They will hate you for my name's sake"& "as the world hated me, so shall it hate you." Jesus was love, they killed him & will continue to kill those who come forward in his name like Dr. King.

In no particular order my favorite 5 are:
    Stay (far away so close)
Where the Streets Have No Name
    With or Without You
    Ultraviolet (light my way)
Until the End of the World
    There are plenty more.

Bro, react to “all I want is you/where the streets have no name” from slane castle. Bono’s dad within a few days of the concert in their hometown of Ireland. Best transition between 2 songs
