Question: in the comments a poster stated that foreigners Do Not Own the Land and can get evicted without any chance of protection from Thai Courts. Is this true?
You can pay for the house but a thai owns the land and can grant you to stay in your own house but also boot you out when they want and there is nothing you can do about it, been there done that. Do not purchase property in Thailand, do the research, it is a complete scam. I lost a house I paid for many years with no rights and many have suffered the same fate.
Thank you for your comment! You've just confirmed the feeling I had from my gut instinct, and saved me wasting a lot of my hard-earned savings. I'll be looking at other options for the future. Have a blessed day!

Yes it's cheaper to build a house there than Canada or the US. But remember building standards and codes are far different in the west.. And the climate in the northern US and Canada is far different than Thailand.
@@theplebreporter Yes, you can buy and "own" a condo in the same way you could in Canada. It's only land that you cannot have a title to, but it's a good idea to consult a lawyer in the country before you make any purchase.

It's lease only, and the company owns the property rights. Often all utilities are price controlled by the company so can be quite expensive. Depending on the terms and length of lease, which can be up to 20 years but probably less, an option is to use it as a holiday home and then rent it out when you're not living there. Everything depends on the conditions of the lease. If you want to own a property in Thailand, then you have to find your own little Gim and settle down happily ever after.

But people from Thailand can come over to the US and buy property and a home and we do not discriminate but you guys discriminate against foreigners? Does not sound nice!!!
Imagine what we foreigners could do with a million USD if there were no laws to protect the Thai people. Land is very cheap in the north. I've seen 10k USD an acre before, which is a good price for the Thais

For clarity, yes there a lot of folk that don’t do the research and f#%$ up royally! But to say you a Farang can’t own a house in Thailand is false! A non Thai national can’t own land in Thailand. There a many ways to do this and protect yourself #1 open a Thai company preferably with a Thai lawyer and the company buys and owns the house you run the company and have full control, #2 consultant with a Thai lawyer to set up the purchase and ownership documents, in short your spouse will own the land and you will own the house on the said land the lawyer will also set up a 100 year lease of the land to you. It is a royal pain in the ass and not without cost and frustration I must agree however…. I do understand why non Thai nationals are forbidden to purchase land in Thailand it’s because they don’t want wealthy non nationals buying up all the land they’re protecting there own and I wholeheartedly agree with that, it’s honourable and respectful. I honestly think it's a poor design for a tiny home, I can see why they chose to cover every window view with frosty curtains, the kitchen is designed length ways to maximise time wasting, the tiny dining table belongs in a camper trailer, the toilet is in the wrong location and incorrect orientation for ergonomic cleaning and hygiene, I didn't hear the land size but I imagine it's 250-300 sq metres so the house is purposely placed to ensure there is no useful land for pool or alfresco patio and outdoor entertaining and where is the laundry ? Flat panel water tanks could have been used but weren't and the kitchen should always have a wide window with a view . . . It could have been a really good deal if it were designed by someone with experience and common sense. My condolences to anyone unfortunate enough to live in such a place😢
Does all the furnishings shown come with the house? I doubt it. Here in the US, you don't get anything with the house except the stove and fridge, if that at all. $80,000 is cheap compared to the US but somehow, it feels expense considering this is Thailand. I also didn't expect houses in Thailand to be built so close to each other like in the US. I don't like it when neighbors are only a yard from me.
