They wouldn't have needed Gasol if they kept Shaq (when Shaq left they had to replace him and choose Gasol but if they did need another big they would've drafted him which they ended up doing with Bynum)

Shaq is the definition of a gentle giant. He towers over people from his massive size, yet is down to earth. I really love seeing him in The General commercials. He could do absolutely nothing in the General commercials and I would still bust out laughing.

What Shaq failed to mention is that by that 4th consecutive finals appearance, he was exiting his prime. Realistically, they could have won 2 more in LA if the core remained intact.
Shaq could have had more rings than anyone but Russell... twice he was blessed with generational talent in Orlando and LA... his ego and inability to embrace his team mates stardom cost him a lot professionally and personally (although I don't know her I believe God blessed him with an amazing wife at that time too)
