  • Colorized Drama Film: Scarlet Street - A man in mid-life crisis befriends a young woman, though her fiancé persuades her to con him out of the fortune they mistakenly assume he possesses.
    Scarlet Street (1945)
    Director: Fritz Lang
Writers: Georges de La Fouchardière, André Mouëzy-Éon, Dudley Nichols
Stars: Edward G. Robinson, Joan Bennett, Dan Duryea
    Genre: Drama, Film Noir, Thriller
    Country: USA
    Language: English
    Release Date: 25 December 1945
    Duration: 102min
Filming Location: Universal Studios - 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, Kalifornien, USA
    Storyline:
Chris Cross, 25 years a cashier, has a gold watch and little else. That rainy night, he rescues delectable Kitty from her abusive boyfriend Johnny. Smitten, amateur painter Chris lets Kitty think he's a wealthy artist. At Johnny's urging, she lets Chris establish her in an apartment (with his shrewish wife's money). There, Chris paints masterpieces; but Johnny sells them under Kitty's name, with disastrous and ironic results.
    Reviews:
"It's hard to see that your youth has escaped you. It happens to us all. The sad personage of Christopher Cross is very touching. He has seen his life pass with a nice gold watch all he has to show for it. His wife is ugly and mean spirited, his work is dull. He is quite a good painter but hasn't time to do anything about it. Them "she" comes into the picture. All those charms, sexy, vulnerable, and evil, with a connection to Dan Duryea (what a cad) to boot. When the Robinson Character comes to her rescue, it's Johnny (Duryea) who is slapping her around. She is perceptive enough to believe that the well dressed older man must have money, and, if she plays her cards right, she can squeeze him for money. He falls, hook, line, and sinker, and really believes she cares about him. Not only is she an opportunist, she even uses his art as her own to get more money. Because he is moonstruck, he lets her go on and on. There is a subplot concerning his wife's first husband and some other things, but he slowly descends the path to destruction. Everyone watching the movie knows that the poor sap is going to get his at some point. The way it happens is a bit of a stretch. Chris should really feel very little guilt; he is victimized all long the way. But in film noir, the dark elements demand their pound of flesh. He is paid for his foolishness and trust." - Written by "Hitchcoc" on IMDb.com

I just love these old Noir films 📽️ When 11:00 pm. was EARLY because ppl. ate dinner at 8:00 pm. They drank coffee ☕ and liquor 🥃 late into the night. When people enjoyed the night life.

Even though I usually like the original Back and White versions of these Classic films, I have to admit that on this, they did a decent job with the colors, they are stable compared to some other movies, where they make them unwatchable trying to add color. If you haven't seen this movie, of course you MUST because it's a really good movie, however, I'd always suggest the B&W versions, especially if it's the first time you are going to see a great movie from that era! BEST movies ever by the way! I really can't watch the movies they make nowadays. Worst thing is, that they get worse and worse with the years...

Edward G.Robinson always seems to me a "mistake in Hollywood". Short, not pretty, funny face.

      Oops @ melianna
One of the most respected hollywood stars along with the tiny Percy Helton ( of Film Noir fame .... ) the train conductor in white christmas ....who was also in a movie called "" criss cross """( the name of the main character here )
Which also starred Dan Duryea who is in this movie
Tedious Links by the plenty for someone under 20
So short doesnt always mean mistake especially if the part requires a short man
