Had to pause this video on the Avs, I respect your process here as on paper so far you have a logical approach when its just black and white options. I just don't see Avs letting Graves get picked and taken. Which is similar to quite a few other teams situations as well not being just black and white options. Some Teams like the Avs purposefully saved their picks they could have wasted adding more depth at the trade deadline, for the purpose of using those picks to force Seattle into taking specific players. As an Avs fan I just don't see how we'd protect Jost over Kadri at any point as well. So these things being said it is far more likely that Sakic pays Seattle to pick Jost/Compher/EJ (EJ if he'll waive, if he doesn't waive he could get bought out end of this season just as easily to get him off this protected list). Avs specifically is not black and white options. We have an entire NHL roster worth of youth still coming up and can feed Seattle our B prospects who also don't suck, packaged with picks to take any of 1 of those 3 mentioned, or Sakic could just say, here have all 3 of Jost/Compher/EJ and be done with it. While I can respect that a lot of teams have adjusted their rosters to not have to pay any extra pick/prospect taxes, There is still half the league that would benefit more from paying the price to force them to pick specific people. Its gonna be pretty exciting when it actually happens to see how each team actually deals with Seattle.

I see where your coming from but realistically it just doesn’t make sense to give up to many assets when you have players like Byram and Timmins coming up to fill graves’ spot and I didn’t take trades into consideration as they aren’t really predictable

Thx for the thought on Jost I wasn’t sure on that last spot since i’m not an avs fan so i went with who I thought had the most potential

@@loganglover3134 the logic behind keeping the depth of our current roster is that Avs window to win is now. Paying a couple picks and/or a prospect to keep your team at the proper depth level to be real cup contenders is reason enough to sacrifice.
Especially when there was easily double digit playoff teams that didn't do as much as they could have at the trade deadline, because they were specifically preparing their roster for the expansion draft, and saving resources to use to pay the tax to keep the players they want to keep.
Every single playoff team wants to take steps forwards, not backwards by losing a key part of their team. In the specific case of the Avalanche yes they have plenty of others to fall back on, Timmins, Byram, and not enough people are talking about Justin Barron. This is how teams keep their "Win Now window" open for the next decade. Can't just let them take a top 4 D off the active roster without setbacks. Setbacks that can be avoided by using draft picks you dont need cause you got 2 teams worth of elite level prospects still in the system.
And there is a dozen teams at least in the same situation as the Avs. I still give you props for going through it all, but trades will be a large factor for the real Seattle team, and you have looked into all of the teams enough to understand how they're going to present their lists to Seattle, I think you could have been bold and just made some educated guesses that certain teams are prepared to pay the tax to force Seattles hand.

There’s no way Jakob will be available !!
As for Toronto ... Andersen is a free agent and moving forward Campbell will be their number one, so they will protect Campbell instead for sure !!
All in all... good job !!!

Jakob won’t be available any more but at the time of making this video I was forced to leave him available because they needed a defender under contract in 2022 to be exposed and him and OEL were the only ones who met the requirement and OEL had a NMC, and I made this list before Campbell got hot so in my updated version that will definitely be changed

I agree they should definitely try to keep him but they would need someone to waive a NMC

It’s not that those two are better, due to the exposure requirements they are forced to leave 2 forwards who are under contract in 2022 exposed and after that those two are the best remaining options
