Very beautifull there, we visited last month. The views are stunning. Sadly it's very difficult to capture on camera. Thank you for sharing!

Sorry to correct you but it's Serra da ESTRELA with one "L" ....so it's pronounced like an L not "lh", like "carvalho" and so on. Estrella is estrela but in Castilian. Peace 😇

quite beautiful indeed. as for the "not fenced" for free access points of tourism and historical interest, I believe people have a inherent sense of what is safe and what's not. children must be kept under close surveillance. for many years this was only for internal tourism, transmission of history. as these points gain recognizement internationally and demand increases municipalities tend to make it profitable. I lived 20 years in lisbon and never payed to visit castelo de são jorge, it was free access. now it's 15€! we shouldn't make portugal become like algarve. well, each coin has 2 sides. my point is tourism profitability shouldn't be done by entrance fee but by commerce of quality. tourists see what they want to see with free access, then they spend more than the not-payed entrance fee on commerce, bars, restaurants, etc. that's my 2 cents. i'm glad you liked it.

I completely agree with your points about tourism! 15€ to visit an attraction is alot when you want to take the whole family & it is a really good point that money can only be spent once so why not support local businesses & restaurants & benefit a wider economy!
      Cheers!
