Co2 Laser Power Problems and Trouble Shooting

  • COMMON PROBLEMS OF CO2 LASER POWER AND TROUBLE SHOOTING
    CO2 laser machine is widely applied into laser engraving and cutting. It mainly consists of luminous system, motion system and control system. Today, we introduce the judgment and elimination of CO2 laser power problems.
    1. Laser head does not emit light when working
    First situation, check whether the laser tube itself emits light (examine it in the laser tube light outlet). If the light is normally emitted normally, check whether the lens is damaged and the optical path is deflected.
    Second situation, the light outlet of the laser tube has no light, check whether the water circulation is normal (see if the water flow of the pipe is smooth).
    Third situation, water circulation is normal, check whether the laser power indicator is on and the fan is rotating. If the light is off, the fan does not rotate, first check whether the AC input 220V or 110V is normal.
    Fourth situation, when the laser power supply 220V or 110V AC input is normal, first unplug the 6-wire green control line terminal on the laser power supply, and press "TEST" to manually emit light.
    ❶ If it can emit light normally, it means that the laser tube and power supply are normal. The problem is on the control line. Plug in the 6-wire green terminal control line and short-circuit the WP and G. If it emits light, it means that the water protection switch is broken; if it does not emit light, then short-circuit TL and G to see if there is light.
    ❷ If the light cannot be emitted or the light is weak, it means that the laser power supply or the laser tube is broken. If there is a reserved laser power supply, or a dual-head machine, or more than 2 laser machines, you can replace the normal laser power supply to rule out whether it is a laser power supply problem.
    It is very important to reserve a laser power supply. If the problem appears, it does not affect production, and is convenient to find and troubleshoot.
    Note: If the above problems do not exist, please contact our company for after-sales consultation and treatment. What about the readout on Cloudray MYJG-100 power supply? Can one press the TEST button and make adjustments using the little potentiometer on the side? If so, what number would be ideal to have in the LED display? 24 -- as is shown in Cloudray's product information pictures?

    Matt I am running into an issue on my 300watt machine where it cuts fine but after it has been running for 30 minutes there is something dropping the power because it stops cutting fully through the material any ideas?

    I have a 150w laser tube and the 150w cloudray laser power supply with the screen on top you showed in the video, up to around 50% command power the laser cuts just fine but anything over that and it doesn't cut atall.
    I noticed some arcing internally to the annode? Ring on the output side, the arc just sort of dances around the ring I've heard conflicting information that this is normal but I have no idea.
    The tube has only done about 10-20 hours in the lifetime of the machine (probably 5 years old barely used)
    I've swapped the power supply and flushed out the water with fresh distilled and it hasn't really helped.
    Any ideas?

    Awesome Video! The company i work for bought a used 150w 5' x 10' laser that wouldn't fire. after watching your video I traced the issue to the machine not having a water sensor. The wire for it was just coiled up under the machine.

    I purchased a Red and Black 80w. According to info on the machine it is practically brand new. Apparently the previous owner attempted to manipulate factory settings. Being new to it all, I don’t know how to return it to factory settings. Is there anyone that will video chat to troubleshoot or is it best to just purchase a new computer board? Thank you.

    I just bought K80 aka red Chinese laser. I am trying to test fire (pulse), but nothing happens.
    Water cooler is turn on and running (if its not, and I try press pulse it gives error about water flow).
    Lid is closed
    When I click TEST on the power supply it fires.
    Where else can be the problem?

    I have a problem with my 100W Co2 laser.
    If my laser power is set above 50% (up to 99.9 %), the ignition of the laser tube is normal, the laser current indicator shows the number 15mA to 30mA. I can use a laser for the acrylic cutting process.
    But if my laser power is set below 50%, the laser tube ignition still has ignition. It's just not continuous (intermittent) and the current indicator shows a number below 1mA. So that I can not do the engraving process.
    Maybe someone can help provide a solution to my problem?

      "short circuit" means to run a wire between the terminals so that electricity can flow between them. In his illustration, the yellow line is a wire.

    Wondering if you would have any knowledge of the red/black laser??? Min start up fine, runs for 20 seconds then loses all power except for lights and a fan on the door of the components. When I shut it off and let it sit for awhile it will start back up and same thing

    • @MWLaser
      @MWLaser  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a DC power supply issue. IF the door fan and lights remain on these usually are powered by mains. so, with machine coming on and then controller turning off would indicate that if you change out the DC power supply the issue should be resolved.

    Dear Mr. Matthew
    thanks for this really educative video.
    I have a strange issue that, after replacement of Laser Tube 40W and Power supply 50W with compatible new ones both from VEVOR
    (this is a 50W Chinese one),
    Laser does not stop firing also during travel.
    I mean as soon as I power my machine, it goes to zero point to engage limit switches, and turns back to preset axis by leaving a really unexpected line over the workpiece.
    Something (what i dont know) keeps the laser on, even with a weak light.
    I am helpless from reseller, any suggestion will be really important. I have videos, parameters, wiring etc. if may support my question and if you want to see.
    Please help me, I am ready to cover any costs occured.
    Thank you

      voyager3355, I am having the same issue recently. Swapped the power supply wired exactly the same as the original and now it fires all the time or while traveling. Did you ever find a resolution and what was it? Thanks in advance.

    • @voyager3355
      @voyager3355 ปีที่แล้ว

      @baddogACE Hello. I have changed both laser tube and power supply with non luck, and I used to purchase a brand new unit. Since I need the machine.
      I think to solve the issue, you need to replace the PLC main board.
      Because my problem originated from a blown co2 tube due to lack of cooling. that probably caused a short circuit at unit and all these things happened.
      I am sorry for you.
      Thanks.
      Regards.

      If you have a Ruida or other DSP controller and are seeing this happen, it is most likely a dying high-voltage power supply unit (PSU). The drive circuit that turns the laser power off and on tends to go first, before the part that controls the overall power level.

    My problem is when I turn on the machine, it powers up but the ruida monitor does not, hence my laser does not operate. The machine fan and light inside powers up, but not the laser. does that mean I need a new ruida system?

    • @BrilliantDesignOnline
      @BrilliantDesignOnline 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      IF you know what you are doing, check the 24vdc power supply to make sure it is putting out; normally there is a green LED to indicate power, but use a multimeter to check for 24 vdc out. Make sure the connector from the 'motherboard' module to the display module is plugged in at both ends. For starters.

      @@cd3845 I don't know your specific machine. You cannot be 'pretty sure'; you need to know the systems, so I would recommend having someone local look at it.
