This is bringing back the memories and anxiety of being on top of the tower going over the edge. The worst part was getting over, but once I started it was fun. They’re lucky they have that big practice walk around 5:40. Our practice wall was maybe 10 ft tall.

I will never forget my experience on eagle tower, the second I got up the latter one of my DS looks at me and sais “private have you always been fat.” I replied by saying yes DS, he then goes “it’s all good we’re gonna fix that, if you don’t die falling off this tower.”
Doesn't feel like a year ago I was in those trainees boots on that exact Victory Tower!

Vic tower was my favorite part of basic before doing the forge tbh
Air Assault school was awesome until we started repelling. It took me 2 repells to make it fun again.
Only 45 seconds in, but they’re lucky they got assault packs. We had to use out heavy ass rucks. Also it’s cool how they have patches to determine platoon. We used penny’s and had them all the way until Graduation. We only got to take them off twice. During the training with the vehicles, I can’t remember what they were. Got to take them off and the next day our former SDS made us put them back on at the US Weapons range. Then we got to take them off the last day of what I guess would be the forge. 2 days before we graduated. Infantry here btw. A 1-50
Makes me think back when I did basic in Ft. Sill in 1998 (Artillery leads the way), we didn't have anything like that. Then again, drill sergeants had our butts for 15 weeks.
I remember doing this in the Corps. Paris island. We had the wall, and then what we referred to as the hell hole. In which, there was no wall, just free falling down the side of the tower. I did not like it. But I survived after 5 more rounds. Thank you senior drill instructor ssgt. Sandoval wherever you are.

This is so quiet and relaxed compared to marine training. Lots of positive support and training. So very different.

Wow really? She's not a vet no offense. A failure yes, but not a vet.
If she is discharged from basic training, that would put her several days short of being able to be a veteran.
Nope. It’s an entry level separation. No veteran status or benefits.
Actually if you fail basic your still considered a vet just without the benefits because technically since you went to basic you served you still get the same dd214 as every other military person that gets out and if you apply for a job you have to put you were prior service

I remember Victory Tower summer of 1994. Don’t remember all the shaded areas for trainees. I remember it being H.O.T. Brings back so many memories.

Holy handgrenade 1999 I hated repelling at least going over the edge. Once I got over and started going down I was fine and having fun, but I was scared to death and hated letting go with the guide hand to wave

I enjoyed doing this on Eagle tower when I went to Benning. Great experience
TheRealJwilson Eagle Tower was smaller than this tower at the top it seems. I remember having to crawl and not allowed to stand up at all. We had to ruck to it since I was at 1-50 and it was only a mile or less away. Right when we were going to leave the sky decided to fall and we had to wait under the cover of a Defac because there was lighting. It was the first time and sadly not the last time I had to get in a cattle car
I loved this company!! Drill Sgt Franko loved having us touch the wall! Can still remember all my BCT drills. Boy time flys

Oh boy...I still have nightmares about that day when our platoon went to Victory Tower. 33 degrees, pouring rain, stinging winds, and wearing only OCP tops and bottoms, no fleece, no waffles, and no wet weather gear. Almost all of us trainees started to have cuddle parties because we were soooo fucking cold. The DS's will come and break us up for SHARP reasons, only to form right back up again 😂. When we got back to the Company more than half of the trainees were sick in quarters the next day and some of us were coughing up green mucus for like a week. BCT during winter sucked, even though it was in South Carolina. Good times! 1-61 Bulldogs lead the way.

It's weird seeing this. I was used to being in heat cat uniform all throughout basic. But I'm sure it's much colder now. We couldn't even really do combatives. We would practice for an hour and then they would make us get out the pit because it had already reached heat cat 4 by 10am.

I fucked up going down the tower and had to do it again. Fucked up the 2nd time as well. The drill sergeants thought I was so hilarious they just said “fuck it” and gave me a Go. I was terrified and shaking like a French soldier at the top of that tower lol.

Keep studying, you got it! You’ll say it so much that there’s no way you won’t be able to memorize it. Take it line by line then once you have a line down go to the next.
I did not get that in depth briefing, I got it at the time to make it happen.
