hey guys its Samantha and welcome to the Mytanfeet youtube channel. in this video we're going to take you to marino Ballena National Park here in Uvita, its one of our favorite places and a must see here in Uvita so let's go.
Marino Ballena National Park is open everyday and has four official entrances. The most popular entrance is the Sector Uvita which is right in the town of Uvita. The park has about 15 kilometers or 9 miles of beach and the whale's tail is the main attraction for visitors.
We're now inside the park, we're going to walk to the whale's tail which is about 2 kilometers from the park entrance and takes around 30 minutes
This national park was created back in 1992, specifically to protect the humpback whale migration as this area has the longest humpback whale season in Costa Rica. This fact was not lost on Mother Nature as inside the park, a natural rocky and sandy formation in the shape of a whale's tail occurs during low tide thanks to the coming together of two beaches.
The beaches in the national park have the classic South Pacific coast characteristics: dark brown sandy beaches with deep blue waters surrounded by rainforest covered mountains. The sand is soft and perfect for long walks. Visitors can swim, sunbathe, surf and enjoy the sunset. Though there are actually 6 beaches inside the national park that are accessible via the four different entrances, the Uvita sector is the most popular since it's the closest to the whale's tail.
We made it to the Whale's Tail, as you can see you can walk up to the rocks so we're going to go up there and take some photos
If you visit Marino Ballena National Park, the best time to go is during low tide to see the whale's tail.
During high tide this entire whale's tail and the beach behind me is under water.
If you're visiting Uvita, you have to spend a day at this Marino Ballena National Park so you can relax under the palm trees, walk to the Whale's Tail, listen to the birds, see an incredible sunset and enjoy a beautiful tropical rainforest beach.
