Gregg is Gone at USMNT! Cherundolo Being Pushed by Mainstream Media...

  • Gregg Berhalter is out as manager of the USMNT. It was only a matter of time and thanks to the lovely fans for applying pressure, we seem to be seeing brighter days ahead of us. Of course, fashionably late to the party, mainstream media jumped onboard the #berhalterOUT party and probably applied enough pressure to seal his fate.
    Some players were vocal about his return, others remained silent. Hopefully whomever the new coach is set to be, he inspires and motivates. What we've been missing these years under Berhalter is heart, dedication and the blue-collar work ether we had of cycles-past.

    I used to watch USFanTV all the time before discovering this channel and others. They were probably the biggest US fan channel on TH-cam from 2014-19 or so. But I think they got burned out from the constant negativity around the team during that period where we really struggled, and they posted less frequently, with no videos since the 2022 World Cup. Seems like they’ve given up on the channel, but I appreciate them for their content back in the day.

      I think we all burn out at some point. Or life gets in the way. That happened to Brett and I at Bigsoccer after 5 years back in the day. Kids, work, married, boards, starting a soccer team, too much,...

      YT burnout is real. I always tell people that if they have a channel that they need to post something relatively regularly b/c jumping back onto a dead channel is tough to re-crack the algorithm

    Love you guys but like the USMNT got criticized for how much they talk about their team chemistry, you guys and Tac and Pete constantly reference how you can disagree with people and still be friends, like it’s an exceptional quality. It’s normal for people to disagree and maintain a relationship. Don’t let social media become your lens to reality. Also, you often call these people you disagree with idiots. Easy to say you hold no hard feelings to the person you just called a shill or a moron. Don’t be confused if the person you disagree with takes offense after being insulted

    • @dwreck1971

      Let us know who've called a shill recently. Or a moron. Or an idiot. We've been pretty nice to everyone lately. We just disagree but have had some of them on the show pretty recently: Alexi, Max, even Tact on a topic. We've just known Pete and Tact for a good while. We've also known Max for some time. That certainly helps. JImmy, same thing. Known him for a long time, disagree with him, never called him a name.

      The shill and moron stuff is definitely Tactical Yanks... I think people can often lump content creators together (especially if they produce content together). Even I can picture you and Brett calling Keller a shiller but I can't (and most likely won't find it ).

    look guys. I always enjoy your shows. You actually know alot. But so many of you pundits keep buying into this narrative that MLS players cant deal. Im tired of this. Yes the USMNT players plays in Europe now. But hear me out. Most are not getting valuable time on the pitch. They aren't. They just aren't. And it might make you feel better that they are on 'euro teams" but that doesn't mean anything if many of them are playing 10 minutes a freaking game. This entire narrative is gets into a circular argument. The average soccer fan doesn't give a crap if Reyna or some other dude is sitting on his ass on the bench. But it matters. And it matters in these tournaments. Teams have got much further in these tournaments without big time players, starting for big time clubs than we have. Now I am happy Greg got fired but these guys who are suppose to be soooooooooo good need to show it. And I dont think anyone wants to be here for the next two years oh Reyna or some other euro guy is not playing every week. No one can possibly think thats a good thing.

    • @noahbrown9708
      @noahbrown9708 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thing is for a player like reyna, he could play in the championship and probably start every game. It just depends on if he's too selfish to accept most teams don't see him as a top league player at the moment. I'm sure he could probably even play a decent amount on a weaker french/spanish team.

    • @dwreck1971
      @dwreck1971 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      We did explain this tonight and said: not gonna complain if an MLS GK gets a chance. Or even a CB. Reyna, I just can't leave off any roster unless he literally gets 0 minutes a season.

    • @Brett_Corbit
      @Brett_Corbit 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Appreciate the comment and hope we can continue to entertain :)
      Derek and I aren't Anti-MLS. Derek is an LAG fan and I support Chicago. We've talked about many MLS players over the years of being the best option in a particular role/position. GK'er being one of the biggest. Derek mentioned bringing Steffen back into the fold, I brought up Schulte and usually bring up Celentano's name (though i didn't last night).
      I think my biggest gripe with the MLS v Euro argument is that MOST MLS players' first touch and decision making is not as sharp as those fighting for a spot in a Euro league. Could someone like Lletget do what Reyna does? To some degree, yes... but it always seemed that Lletget took a couple extra touches to get into that position.
      As for the minutes thing and other countries, do we have an example of a player who is legit better than the domestics but isn't earning PT at the club level, being left off that country's WC roster... with the country being on par with USMNT? Obviously a very talented Brazilian or French player who isn't playing for his club won't likely see a callup b/c there are plenty of quality to replace him. Hypothetically speaking, El Salvador would call in a very talented player in Europe who isn't playing for their club b/c they lack overall domestic talent.
      Point is, Gio may not be seeing much PT, but the drop in talent from him to Malik was noticeable when it came to breaking the defense and creating chances (of course a small sample size). Just b/c you are playing and scoring/assisting in MLS doesn't necessarily equate to national team success

      @@Brett_Corbit No No I get what you are saying. My point is I understand who you guys would take. Because there are no better options. But for us to compete we need the guys who play in Europe to actually PLAY there. Or find somewhere else where they can actually play.

      @@user-dp6ve5ng8h aaaaahh I get ya. I’m all for gio going to a mid table team and finding consistent pt rather than worrying about cl minutes and such. Play week in and week out in a top league but not on a top team 😁
