@@christianalexander579actually yes it does. It doesn’t change them overnight, but when people look back on how a team at the top fell off, it’s usually a starting point. Yep. If Butler had that i terception jostled out of his hands and the Seahawks get another chance, 2015 would have gone very differently (likely no Jimmy Graham which means C Red Bryant stays; maybe no Marshawn retirement; maybe they again beat the Panthers and the Broncos for another championship).

@@ericawinfrey2604 LMFAO! You lost to a better. The BUCS I believe had the #1 defense! Raiders shouldn't even won a playoff game, they were literally trash!
Believe it or not, the game that really was the driving force between the locker room divide was the NFC Championship. The Pro Russ/Anti Russ locker room thing you mention earlier dates back to even before the 2014 season. Despite Russ playing the worst game of his career, multiple players came out and said Pete went out of his way to praise him and give him a ton of credit for the win, despite the LOB holding the packers to 16 points on 4 red zone trips (3 of which were off of Wilson INTs). The Super Bowl ending really was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Wilson and Kearse sucked so bad that day, until they didn't. But it was Marshawn Lynch on offense and the defense who kept the game close enough to still have a shot at the end. But yeah, couple that with the super bowl debacle at the end, and I can see how players lost their faith in Carroll.
As a Seattle born and raised man. All I care about is that for 1 year (superbowl year) the Hawks were the best team in the NFL and dominated with no question. We had arguably one if not the greatest teams ever seen. Not many teams can/ have experienced that. What goes ip must come down eventually but when when we were up we were an untouched level. You cant ask for much more than that.
I agree lob n beastmode was must see TV what a time that was even as a Texans fan it broke my heart when the patriots intercepted the ball at the goal line never looked at Pete carrol the same😫💯
Fun Fact: The Seahawks made it to back2back Superbowls, when Russell Wilson was on a Rookie-Contract. Once they started paying him like a superstar, they won two Wildcard games in 6 years. But hey, that is Denver's problem now. But it is just amazing, how decent to good Quarterbacks like Wilson actually cripple your ability to compete for a championship, once you pay them... yet everybody always pays them.
@@tastelesstube The great ones do this, of course. Paying Mahomes, whatever he demands, is worth it. But there are so many decent QBs that are actually overpaid. Let's look at the example I follow the closest: The Vikings were in the NFC Championship Game with their Back Up QB Case Keenum. They then invested big to get Kirk Cousins, who is decent... and won 1 Play Off Game in 5 years. Everyone was like "Let's throw 24 Million a year at Cousins, that will bring us back to the Superbowl after an eternity." No one was like "Let's pay Keenum half of that and invest into the skill group..." Can you build a Superbowl Contender around Cousins? If you pay him 12-15 Millions a year, you could. But you can't get Cousins at that price tag, so the answer is No. On the other hand, look at the 49ers skill group and how good they look, while playing Mr. Irrelevant at Quarterback. They can afford that group, because their Quarterbacks 7 Millions. All of them combined. Once they sign Prudy to an extension, they will have to let a lot of guys walk...
@PassivesAbseits But Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl and went right back to another that was there for the taken. Then they took away his line and key defenders were hurt. But he still played well. Aaron Rodhers went to one, but never again, but he played well. Nick Foles won, got paid and is gone. The fact is that it is not easy getting to the Super Bowl no matter how much you're getting paid. That's why the smart ones like Troy Aikman and Tom Brady were willing to give up a lil money. They weren't satisfied with one Super Bowl. Look at Drew Brees, Dan Marino. Phillip Rivers, and Dan Fouts.
he wasnt the only one that showed up with a big receipt. a lot of the defense all ended up getting massive contracts.... which they somewhat deserved, but for every one of them over performing their competition, it made it impossible to keep everyone and fill other needs later down the road. the crazy shit with Wilson just makes it all even more wacky that worked as long as it did.
@@vissermatt1058 Ture. And that is one of the core problems of especially the NFL, but US Sports in general, we Europeans will never understand: Why do you punish teams, that draft and develope well? Because by design, you can't keep that team together. Which gives every team a 4-5 year cycle to win the Superbowl at best. After that, the players are too expensive to build a decent roster. Even the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes seem to fall into this trap. But the ugly truth is also, that Earl Thomas had to hold out, because the Seahawks refused to pay him. He then broke his leg in what was his last game. Earl Thomas has earned 79 Million Dollars in his career. Willson is scheduled to make 477 Million. 182 as a Seahawk. Cam Chancellor, Richard Shermann and Earl Thomas got a combined 175. Imagine paying Wilson 2/3 or half of that money and spending the rest on great players.... But since every QB contract has to break the previous record, that is an impossible thought... except for Tom Brady and the Patriots, who refused to play this game. Brady also won so many Superbowls, because he was willing to take massive pay cuts. Smart man.
@@Natsam_33 I understand why you feel the need to project here. It's probably a subconscious drive you have little to no control over. I do not hold it against you son.
Even though I am a Niner fan and didn't like the team, I respected what they had, and how during the Harbaugh years, they went toe to toe with the niners. I do not think that the interception in the Super Bowl was their ultimate downfall. It was when Russell Wilson's rookie contract was up. When you have to pay your qb a lot of money, the rest of the talent around him eventually suffered. While people credit him for keeping the team afloat, the reason he was running for his life almost every game is because the o line was the area management look to to go cheap on to pay Russell. He didn't have a good old line. ONe of the reasons Tom Brady was so good was because he was kept upright in his games. He had a good old line, because he never took max contract deals, allowing even a few million freed up for a key player, such as an offensive tackle, solid pieces on defense, etc.
I remember Matt Flynn from 2013 when Rodgers missed half the season with a broken collar bone. He actually had a pretty good stretch including a comeback win down 26-3 against the cowboys.
I was expecting your Seahawks video to be one geared around praise for what they have recently mananged to pull off as a franchise. But I am actually glad in some respects that we are looking back at some fairly painful years (even though it triggers my childhood trauma, giving me flashbacks to the chair I hid behind after you know what happened). We need to remember that just a few years ago, the team was in the midst of a slow and painful decline spanning many seasons, kept on life support by Russ throwing across his body more times than one should need to. We had some questionable drafts, dubius trades, and downright sus FA signings. We had running backs getting hurt in droves, coaches getting flipped off, fan favorite HOF players injuring their necks and disappearing into the shadow realm, and a wildly inconsistant O-line. The 2022 season was the first time since 2014 where it felt like the team was really trending up, as far as the long-term future was concerned. The last couple of years has felt like a complete 180, and was truly a new era. Before that though, I aways felt a sense of sadness, grief for what never was. Yes, we won a lot of games, but it always seemed like we underachieved. The years spanning 2015 - 2021 can indeed be described as the fumbling of a dynasty, one excruciating trip to State Farm Statium at a time.
As a Seahawks fat superbowl 40 was way more painful for me. We lost superbowl 49 because of our own incompetence, in superbowl 40 we had to play two teams
Let’s not forget this team went an entire decade without a losing record. Winning in the playoffs is just hard. It’s pretty impressive they even made the playoffs considering what was going on behind the scenes
@@raging_crocodile2081 we really should have 3 Lombardi's... But I'm just happy we're a new young team again and finally trending up. I honestly haven't been this excited for the season to start in about a decade 👍
It was a fun ride in the Northwest in the 2010s for Seahawk fans. This video is a great summary of the overall story. But I guess I don't look at at the "what ifs" so much as Seattle played the weirdest brand of football for nearly a decade. There were even articles about how they just seemed incapable of ever playing a normal game, with so many going down to the last drive or whatever. It was fun, exciting, heart-attacking inducing and rarely boring. We watch football for entertainment, at its core. Seahawk fans were always entertained, even if some of it was painful. My theory is that their insane, miracle comeback against Green Bay in the NFC championship game used up all their luck. That's still the most incredible few minutes of football ever. Wilson went from playing his worst game ever to his best. Meanwhile, Marshawn Lynch kept it together. It also helps Mike McCarthy was a timid man that day. This new version of the Seahawks might have their own championship run in them soon. But I'm not sure they'll ever be the same wacky bunch of characters as the mid 2010s Seahawks. They were legendary. And we'll always treasure that thumping of Peyton Manning. As a fan, I'm satisfied.
From a Seahawks fan, I think that the 2010's teams should be considered very good as a group. They won one championship, and with less friction and better execution in some spots, they may have won more. But they were a strong, consistent playoff team for the better part of a decade, and there's no shame in that. As for the team of late, we'll see how far they can go. I heard Geno Smith didn't do that great in the second half of the year, but with the latest draft pick, we should have an improved defense. As for Russell Wilson, looking back he was more of a solid game manager in 2013 and arguably 14 as well with the defense and running game obviously being the better components (possibly one of the last teams with that kind of a setup to win a title), but credit him for being a key player, and more of a significant factor on the playoff teams after that. After reading the last part of your comment, I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks back and enjoys the championship we actually got. I hear a lot of people complain that Super Bowl 40 was rigged, and a lot of people complain that we threw the ball on the one yard line, and I see relatively few people looking back and appreciating the championship we actually got.
@@fortynights1513 I'd much rather think about the errant snap flying by Peyton Manning's head than Malcolm Butler being a big mean jerk and stealing the ball. (Butler never gets nearly enough credit for bullying his way to that interception...it was a legendary play on his part)
I’ve tried to call him. He won’t answer me for some reason and when I showed up to his house he gave me some weird piece of paper called a restraining order or whatever.
That BeastQuake run is probably the biggest example of home field advantage since the freezer game AFC Championship in which the Bengals upset the Chargers
It still amazes me that in just a few short years one of the greatest defenses of all time was put together, dominated in every way possible, then got torn apart, stomped on, and lit on fire till it was but a memory.

Bruh this the team that got me into football to begin with and I have not seen ANY team replicate this skill and energy. Made me a Seahawks fan for life and has me noticing that this upcoming team is legion of boom 2.0
I remember the LOB fondly not because I'm a Seahawks fan but because I lived in Seattle around that time and they played fun-to-watch football. They were just so good...I watched SB 48 at a friend's party... I had to think back to that Ravens-Giants jawn to remember the last time I had seen such a merciless ass-kicking in the Super Bowl
I’ve come so close so many times to writing a video about them. Hell around a year ago I wrote about a 20 page script on them but abandoned it. Seriously tho I think u can expect a killer B’s video pretty soon.
@tigerwoods373 also aside from 2016 the bs never really had a run in them. The defense let them down always. Harrison and polomalu were retired or too old and not their former selves
The biggest thing was that the Legion of Boom started to suffer too many injuries from their hard tackling. Particularly Kam Chancellor. That hit on the Denver receiver on their first play from scrimmage was devastating, every Bronco receiver developed a bad case of alligator arms (Hope my memory is right about the first play from scrimmage, the NFL has take down Super Bowl 48 Full Game....can't have their darling Peyton looking so bad, couldn't get a single first down for the first 1/3 of that game.🤣)
This is Matt Flynn slander. He played great against New England in 2010, played like a God in 2011. Came back to Green Bay when Rodgers was hurt in 2013 and led one of the most memorable comebacks against the Cowboys. Did just enough for us to still win the division in his absence. Dunked on some guy on Twitter with a great tweet. Packers legend.
Flynn was a very good backup in Green Bay. Plus he won the business game of the NFL, making millions off the stats of one regular season game. To his credit, he never made a fuss in 2012 as the backup in Seattle. I hope whatever he's doing now with his life, he's happy and healthy.
Great video. I never realized that the worst offensive call in superbowl history was DIRECTLY after the superbowl win (thought there was a year or two between). I watched it live, not evening being a fan and there was ringing in my ear as if a grenade went off. 2nd and goal on the 1 and you throw an inside slant? But when you step back and look at it, Cam and the panthers who beat them in the playoffs the next year went to lose to the Broncos that the Seahawks blew out; potential 3 peat for the Hawks. RIP. I can definitely understand how deflating that loss was for the players.
Most painful loss in my 40 years as a Packer.Fan. Thank you for bringing back my PTSD!! In all seriousness, you are killing it for such a young CC. Hats off to you. Great things are coming your way with your great work ethic.
That was some impressive drafting the first few years of Pete’s reign…the legion of boom was impressive. After the rookie contracts were up, it was going to fall apart.
The Bowman play is more painful than the Crabtree and Sherman catch. Because you could feel the atomosphere change as soon as the Refs ripped the heart of the 49ers fans and players apart.
what people seem to forget about the 2013 NFC championship game the refs were making lotta bad calls, especially on the Bowman interception when he broke his leg! BS! But still, though it was an awesome game!
So glad I stumbled across your channel, it’s been very informative for a person who’s just recently gotten into the NFL, love your channel hope this channel become a dynasty
It's funny to keep seeing pictures of Geno Smith in here and you don't even say his name😅😅.Oh that man was patient wasn't he? Go on? I liked the story you're telling . I think I'll subscribe
A move that always puzzled me was that my Seahawks signed Blair Walsh after he missed the kick for Minnesota that advanced us in the playoffs in 2016. People don't talk much about how he single-handedly lost about 4 games in 2017 with his bad kicking, forcing us to miss the playoffs for the first time in the Russell Wilson era.
I was at that GB game. The stadium was 2/3 empty by the time the rally started. They stopped checking tickets in the club section because security staff had to go work the exits because so many people were leaving. I was so angry at Russ for his awful gameplay…literally furious, then the most amazing comeback (would have been best comeback in history if they won the SB). Great video for a guy shooting in a dorm room!
Russell checked to the pass play. That was the downfall. 1&Goal at rhe 2. Hand the ball to Beast mode 4 times. Pete Carroll would have never called a pass there, everyone knew it, and the pats couldnt stop him. However, Russell wanted the glory, and no one liked him after that. Simple as that.

The NFL fixing what rookies can make on their contract was one of the best decisions they ever made. The salaries were ballooning out of control and it caused strife amongst rookies and veterans... rookies making more than established players without even seeing the field was absurd.
Shut the fuck up bro you guys will never be good again while Seattle has a bright future after it’s short rebuild. 🗣️ You guys are gonna be a completely irrelevant and mediocre franchise until bill belicheck retires so be happy while you live in mediocrity while Seahawks stay winning. W Seattle
Seattle got lucky as hell in those two NFC Title Games. 2013 vs the 49ers: CLEAR Roughing the Punter on 4th down that should’ve extended the drive with the 49ers leading 17-13. On the ensuing drive by Seattle that NEVER should’ve existed in the first place Seattle gets stopped on third down and the play clock begins at 14:50. Somehow, Pete Carol is able to call a timeout at 13:52, 58 seconds later without any delay of game penalty despite the play clock being 40 seconds. So it’s a 4th and 7 instead of a 4th and 12. And that’s the play Seattle scored their go ahead TD on. Then Bowman forced a fumble and maintains control and then gets injured. To quite literally add insult to injury they overturn the fumble. Though that call didn’t nearly have the impact it could’ve because they fumbled the next play but the injury did. The second one against the Packers, the offense was DEAD and Green Bay led by at least 2 scores the entire game until the ball bounces off of Bostick’s helmet on the onside kick, and even then need a crazy 2 point conversion for it to go to OT because Rodgers takes the Packers down and they tie with a FG. Then they win the coin toss in OT and win.
Pete Carroll used to be on those lists of coaches who should have stayed in college. With the 2013 Seahawks and onwards, Pete removed himself from those lists. 😊 I remember in ESPN show where they had him on coaches who should have stayed in college football and not gone to the NFL. I think that show was produced in 2005, ten years later it was no longer true.
Few fail to realize that in 2012 in the divisional round, we could have beaten Atlanta if Pete Carroll didn't try and play cute in the last 40 seconds of the game. He called a time out last minute and and the officials didn't respond at first but Bryant kicked the field goal and missed. If Carroll just sat there a missed field goal would have be a win for the Seahawks and I would be confident that they could have beaten in 49ers at at Candelstick for the NFC Championship.
Still, no other SB team has beaten a team that threw for 5500 plus yards. In fact no other team has thrown for 5500 yards since! The Denver Broncos hold that record. And hardly anyone chose to pick Seattle to win that game. And yet they won it 43-8. As to the Malcom Butler interception, you don’t throw the ball to the 4th receiver on your depth chart. Russell should have rolled right, thrown to the WR, or run it in for the 1 yd. Seattle had 1 TO, so if you throw it away you’re on 3rd down with 2 chances to score. Nope. Darrell Bevell called that interception play that he knew going in that NE corner Browner had previously practiced it, as a Seahawk. Browner knew the play. And yet it never occurred to any Seattle coach, hmm perhaps we should call something else. It was a bad call on 2nd down, which didn’t allow Seattle a 3rd or 4th down. Them’s the breaks. 😢
Peyton threw 55 TD in regular season, then had the most embarassing defeat of his career. Unfortunately for Seattle, they couldnt build off that because Pete Carroll
Pete is going out with a bang. We WILL make the playoffs this season. We could even win the division, highest hopes we are the #1 seed. We can do it, we have the talent
Lynch fumbled the ball from the 1 yard line during the NFC wildcard game against the Redskins the previous year. He was also tackled for a loss during the 2014 season game against the Broncos. And in the Super Bowl game in the first drive of the 3rd quarter Lynch was tackled for a loss on a 3rd and one forcing the Hawks to kick a field goal. There was NO GUARANTEE that Lynch would have scored and IF the pass play was better executed the Seahawks would have won the Super Bowl. Would have could have should have is just a stupid game.
My theory I’ve had as to why the Seahawks threw the ball on the 1 yard line in the Super Bowl was that Pete Carroll still had PTSD from the UT/USC championship game. All LenDale White needed was one yard to close the game for them, and he failed, giving Texas the chance to ultimately come back and win. Maybe I just like to think that as a UT fan, and you would think someone like Pete Carroll would be smart enough to realize that having Beast Mode as your RB is WAAAY different than having LenDale White, but that’s about the only reason I can think of as to why Pete Carroll and the Seahawks made that mind bogglingly stupid decision to pass.
There was a stat I read once about the packers game, if just one of the last 50 plays in the game went the other way, incompletion, completion, run, pass, If just one had been different, packers would of held on. Seattle literally needed the last 50 plays to go exactly how they did.
No matter what the Seattle Seahawks do the organization will NEVER be able to shake the stupidest Superbowl play in NFL history!! That pass play that they called and it was intercepted by Malcolm Butler!! The Seahawks will forever live under that shadow no matter what they accomplish in the future!!
Aaron Curry's contract was normal in 2009. Josh McDaniel's Broncos traded a 2010 1st round pick for the Seahawk's 2009 2nd round pick. It was Alphonso Smith by the Broncos & Earl Thomas by the Seahawks.
Niner fan here. The Seahawks kicked our butts a lot in this era, but the one happiness i have is that they never became that dynasty that nearly all Seahawks fans I'd talk to promised would rival the 49ers of the 80s. One and done.
The problems of The Seahawks is 1) No elite wide receiver due to Pete Carroll's having no value 4 them!! 2) Russell Wilson's in denial of his limitations ( he's a short QB who NEEDS A POWER BACK Rushing so he can have play Action pass) he looks at himself as an elite QB...he fools himself
That’s not completely true about the 2013 divisional against the Saints not being close. The saints scored 15 points in the 4th quarter. Then they recovered an onside kick and almost forced the game to overtime. It was really only the Seahawks defense that was dominant. The offense was lackluster outside of Lynch.
Everyone talks about how they didn’t call Marshawns number on that goal line play. I see it as Wilson throwing one of the worst passes in NFL history and he doesn’t get crap for it. He is so over rated and now being exposed in Denver

@@johnchedsey1306 let’s not forget that trade we did to her jimmy graham
@@johnchedsey1306 They lost faith in Russ, not Carroll
Tbf, it should’ve only been 2 picks
That game was epic af the. My favorite game all time maybe. Or the nfc champ game against the niners the year prior. Both were great games
I agree lob n beastmode was must see TV what a time that was even as a Texans fan it broke my heart when the patriots intercepted the ball at the goal line never looked at Pete carrol the same😫💯
Yeah, I wish I was old enough to appreciate it back then. I only started actually watching the season of SB50. I was only 10, after all.
Yeah that 2013 team was a buzzsaw, but for what it is worth, the team was still dominant to really good until like 2018-2019ish
And how many qbs play championship caliber fb after their rookie contract?
@@tastelesstube The great ones do this, of course. Paying Mahomes, whatever he demands, is worth it. But there are so many decent QBs that are actually overpaid.
Let's look at the example I follow the closest: The Vikings were in the NFC Championship Game with their Back Up QB Case Keenum. They then invested big to get Kirk Cousins, who is decent... and won 1 Play Off Game in 5 years. Everyone was like "Let's throw 24 Million a year at Cousins, that will bring us back to the Superbowl after an eternity." No one was like "Let's pay Keenum half of that and invest into the skill group..."
Can you build a Superbowl Contender around Cousins?
Smart man.
Video hurt to watch as a Seahawks fan but its great to look back and reminisce
Life probably hurts to live in general if you're a seahawks fan. That special needs requirement is truly unfair.

@@earthatom7 agree 💯
Can't wait for the season finale when Tom Brady takes over the whole room
the series finale will be Brady walking into the room unannounced mid video

It still amazes me that in just a few short years one of the greatest defenses of all time was put together, dominated in every way possible, then got torn apart, stomped on, and lit on fire till it was but a memory.

Forgot Percy Harvin was even on the Seahawks. Now that’s a loaded team. In 2013 Harvin was still an NFL fan household name.
The biggest thing was that the Legion of Boom started to suffer too many injuries from their hard tackling. Particularly Kam Chancellor. That hit on the Denver receiver on their first play from scrimmage was devastating, every Bronco receiver developed a bad case of alligator arms (Hope my memory is right about the first play from scrimmage, the NFL has take down Super Bowl 48 Full Game....can't have their darling Peyton looking so bad, couldn't get a single first down for the first 1/3 of that game.🤣)
i’m so glad you blurred the pick on the goal line. it’s still too soon to watch that play
IMO, ever since Russell threw that goal line interception in Super Bowl 49, his NFL career has never been the same.
One play at the Superbowl changed what could have been a Dynasty.

As someone who lives in Denver, Super Bowl 48 was truly embarrassing. People are literally ashamed to talk about that game.
I love how the taped pictures in the background evolve. 😂 Good channel my dude

Best video I’ve seen in along time
Seattle got lucky as hell in those two NFC Title Games.
It ended beacuse of the "The Throw" thanks Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll
Easy sub on my first vid. Great job and a great video, my dude.
Good work. Thanks for making this
Pete Carroll used to be on those lists of coaches who should have stayed in college.
Keep this shit up man I love the vids and think u got endless potential
I think his best stuff is the work he does with TubGirl.
Great vid!
But with Geno Smith as a QB, HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got bad news buddy, it ain’t looking too good
This ain't aged well 🤣🤣🤣
Lynch fumbled the ball from the 1 yard line during the NFC wildcard game against the Redskins the previous year.
And if they did not waste their time outs. . . .
Sorry.
Go Pats!
seahawks and panthers during this time was the most exciting football ive ever scene. loved that time
My theory I’ve had as to why the Seahawks threw the ball on the 1 yard line in the Super Bowl was that Pete Carroll still had PTSD from the UT/USC championship game.
Nice dorm room, appreciate the grind!
There was a stat I read once about the packers game, if just one of the last 50 plays in the game went the other way, incompletion, completion, run, pass, If just one had been different, packers would of held on. Seattle literally needed the last 50 plays to go exactly how they did.
Everyone and their pet goldfish gets me every time
No matter what the Seattle Seahawks do the organization will NEVER be able to shake the stupidest Superbowl play in NFL history!!
No need to tell Vikings fans to look away. Whatever game it is, the pain lives on and on.
well done! new sub here *salute*
Thats correct
He aint no Rodgers for sure 😂
Thank you. Love your content.
Also, Russell Wilson ran himself out of town.
49ers got railroaded in 13 nfc championships game. It was insane the calls the refs were home cooking.
