  • Roland V-Drums Acoustic Design is a brand-new V-Drums experience, blending the physical presence of acoustic drums with Roland’s world-leading digital percussion technology. The authentic look and detailed craftsmanship of a premium acoustic drum kit is all here, with full-diameter, real-wood shells and cymbals, beautiful wraps, and deluxe chrome hardware.
    The Roland VAD506 & 503 both use the TD-27 sound module, loaded with the finest acoustic drum sounds you’ve ever heard. Roland’s Prismatic Sound Modeling produces drums that not only sound exceptional but also respond just like real acoustic instruments when you play them. Advanced digital trigger inputs support Roland digital pads for unmatched expression, while new PureAcoustic Ambience Technology offers a variety of inspiring drumming spaces at the touch of a button.
    Derived from the flagship TD-50 module, the TD-27 is filled with drums that live and breathe like real acoustic instruments. We start by sampling the finest drums, percussion, and cymbals-both vintage and modern-in world-class recording studios. Roland’s unique Prismatic Sound Modeling is then applied to the samples, bringing them alive with proprietary behavior modeling refined over two decades. Every time you play a drum or cymbal in the module, you're not simply triggering a canned sound-you're playing a full-bodied instrument that responds like its acoustic counterpart in every way, putting unlimited sonic range at your command.
    The TD-27 module features stereo outputs for the overall drum sound, plus two direct outputs for sending kick, snare, and other sounds to an audio console for independent mixing. In the studio, the built-in USB audio interface makes computer music production easy, with up to 28 audio channels available over a single cable. MIDI is also supported via USB and dedicated I/O, allowing you to sync with other MIDI devices and trigger sounds in computer software.
    In this video, we hear a wide selection of premium acoustic kits plus electronic sounds from Roland’s rich sonic history, providing must-have sounds for classic and modern styles.

    Just got this kit and its is SOLID, and the sounds blend perfectly with a band. The great thing is you can tune and create your own custom kit to sound like your dream set. Sounds every bit as good as my pearl maple kit. Worth every sent.

    "loaded with the finest acoustic drum sounds you’ve ever heard". Come on Roland, don't pretend like you haven't heard the Mimic Pro. This would have been an instant buy if the sound module sounded half as good as the Mimic. The VAD looks great. But it's high time for Roland to fix their sound module quality.

    It's a riddle to me how, after Superior Drummer has been around with great drum samples for years, Roland can still come out with something sounding this terrible. Also, the prices are r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s! You can buy premium acoustic drums for that kind of money. Why on earth is there no young start-up that seizes the opportunity and teaches these uninnovative rip-off companies a lesson and produces a great sounding, cheap and good-looking kit?

    • @christopherpederson1021
      @christopherpederson1021 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      why would you even compare this to a real drum kit? Clearly, they are completely different. You could play this thing anytime of the day without getting evicted from your apartment. Yea, they sound like shit, but so do most edums. Your gonna want to connect up the Superior drummer right away to anything. Also, roland has the best cymbal of any ekit on the market.

    • @evankeal
      @evankeal 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Comparing to real drums is pointless. Own one, record with it, play it. Then get a mimic or superior and tell me you can play the same. Sure the limited samples are great on many other sound sources, but many of these roland sounds are used by top artists often. Not many are running drum software on alesis or yamaha. These roland kits load instantly, the module and the hardware will likely last for hundreds of years. Your software will be obsolete eventually. Wont run on the only available platforms.

    Electronic drums are so bad. I've played acoustic for almost ten years, then need to switch to electronic, because I was moving to another place and there I cannot play acoustic set. My drumming skill and enjoyment for this amazing instrument was fading away. After two years I finally was able to switch again to acoustic one. I feel that many things I need to learn again. Good news are - the passion and love for drumming is back. I'll never play electronic drums as a way to replace acoustic experience. Its not even close, totally different instrument.
    I love acoustic drumming, but personally I hate electronic drums trying to be acoustic. Theres just no chance to achieve that.

    • @attera5533
      @attera5533 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They're not meant to replace acoustic sets. They're on a separate level. I have 2 kits, Pearl kit for shows and to practice with my band. My Roland kit is for quiet home practice. I have actually improved a lot since I've been using it at home.

    • @joshratliff7899
      @joshratliff7899 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      May I ask what electronic kit you played on? For me, certain e-kits did in fact almost ruin drums for me (Alesis DM-10). However, other kits that I have played on have removed enough of the uncanny valley for me to enjoy playing (the TD-50 that I am using for church now).

      I also want to know what kit you played; there's a ton of choices with varying degrees of quality and several different features. you could have picked something bad, or something that's good but didn't really suit your needs (e.g. wanting acoustic-like sounds, buying Roland and getting disappointed with their synthesized samples).
      it's not fair to judge ALL e-kits because one is bad; there's probably something that would have been a better choice, and that would've been enjoyable for you (I have an ATV EXS-5 and I love it!)
      in any event, at least you're back to drumming as YOU like it, so it's all good
