I personally suggest Real/Anti-Hero. Anti Hero is made under same roof as Real, between the two, back when I skated regularly I weighed 225lbs and couldn't snap a Real deck to save my life. My personal favorites were the R1 construction and Low Pro construction decks from Real. Stay away from the recycled series, they tend to snap easier. Also, deck size matters. I suggest 8.25/8.38/8.4 for bigger guys, and make sure you buy the proper width trucks for the board size, makes a lot of difference. After 11 years of living and breathing Skating, I hurt my ankle pretty bad and just lost all confidence afterwards. Fast forward 6 years and I now am creeping up on 300lbs and really want to get back into it. Just makes me nervous thinking about rolling into the park and trying to progress from scratch again, but I really want it. Seeing you rip is really inspiring, think I just gotta block out the negativity. What you said about your anxieties of starting something you haven't done in a while at the beginning of the video perfectly describes how I feel about coming back to the board. But I gotta do it, just too much fun I am missing out on. Cheers!
The motorcycle transition was perfect. I am a 200+ 44 year old. I have found Powell Flight decks have been best form my learning process, boards as you know take a beating in the process. The Flight deck just provides me the confidence to try tricks without worrying about the board. I did try the Santa Cruz VX but didn't like the shape. I will be skating my first Real soon. I picked up the Ishod twin tail. Very interested to see how it goes. Great videos Sir. Stay rad.
this video motivated the hell out of me. Im 250 and just took my niece to the park, and gave her board a shot and decided to try my hand at skating again. Hope it helps me lose weight as well!
awesome video, just wanted to say that many of the things you said about the moment in your life I'm actually feeling at the moment. getting to a whole different place in the world and pratically starting life again ... thanks for the video mate
great videos bro subbed. my goal is to get back below 110kg before i start skating again. its been 15 years but i want to skate so bad man. my knees and joints are bad but im almost there
I just got back into skating, I stopped skating 18 years ago. I had to buy a whole new skateboard setup because I had nothing from when I use to skate, I went with an Enjoi cornacopia hybrid resin deck and I cracked it on a flat ground kick flip, I didn't even get 1 hour of skating on it before it cracked, not sure if I got a lemon deck or what, but it's funny because the reason I stopped skating was boards weren't even lasting me a week before they would break and at that time I could not afford it, back then I weighed probably 170 and I'm 6'2", I now weigh 205. After this board cracked, I ordered that same day a tactics brand deck and a Polar deck, they'll be here in 2 more days. See how those hold up haha. I'll try an Almost deck next time I buy one.
I'm 6'1" 195 lbs and 51 years old. Been skating off and on since 1986 (mostly off due to health/work/life issues. I ride an 8.75" deck not only because of my height/weight but also my 11.5 shoe size. I usually ride anti-hero decks and just finished off a Black Label deck-both excellent brands. Never snapped a board, but I'm also not doing huge drops or crazy shit. I ride Thunder highs, but I'm thinking of switching to Ace trucks because I heard they give you better turning/carving capability than Thunders or Indys. I have 1/8" riser pads as well just to absorb a bit of impact and more height/pop.... which means 1" bolts. I ride 56mm Spitfire Formula Forty-Fours in a 99 duro which to me are the best all-around wheels for park and street. I just switched from Bones Reds to Bronson G2 bearings (not the ceramic) which are super fast, but the Reds are good too. Keep on keepin on y'all!
Hey there, it always says on the bottom of the board. But you can just search REAL HEAVYWEIGHT either on the website your checking out or on Google itself
You’re exactly right….I’m currently 30yrs old and 230ish debating coming off a 5-6 year break….I stepped on a board probably a year ago and I felt like a virgin all over again…so hopefully I can get back in the rhythm when I start back in a couple months from now
Sorry dude, I can’t watch this!5 minutes of you dealing with your emotions at the beginning of your video before you get to the real content… No thank you!

As a big guy too and a new skater, I'm really curious about your bushing choice. Do you use stock bushings and what duro?
Stock until they bust usually them I just buy medium indies.
