The text to this beautiful song is taken from "Sancti venite", composed at Bangor Abbey in Northern Ireland in the 7th century AD, making it the oldest known Eucharistic hymn. Composer Steven R. Janco has taken John Neale's 19th century translation of the text and created a noble and lyrical contemporary setting of these ancient words of faith.
