Pain never breaks people, FEAR breaks people; fear of future pain (or undesired outcomes). The moment is always tolerable, but as soon as the mind deviates from the moment, it opens up space for fear to interpret potential outcomes
This is very insightful, I can't tell you how many times I got mindfucked in the military into nearly emotionally spiraling about how hard something is going to be. Then, you do it, and yeah it sucks, but not a big deal.
Absolutely 1000% true! FEAR = False Expectations Appearing Real. It is the expectations that eff people up. Focus on the right now, the future takes care of itself.
I knew a CAG guy early on in my career in the infantry. He was my platoon sgt at my first unit before he went to CAG. He was always talking about how wrestling gives you the best chance at getting through suck fests. He was always wanting to run. That mother fucker could run to the sun. Monday mornings were 10 mile runs in gask masks and I was just a regular ol grunt. But guys like that are superhuman and make the best leaders. By far. I hope this kid in your video makes it through. 🙏 🔥
One day, one hour, one minute, one second at a time. Whatever it takes to get thru the moment. Nothing is impossible to accomplish if you live in the now instead of the then. People get too focused on the future and things that will never or may never happen. Focus on the now and the future will take care of itself, it always does.
BOOOOOOM Fire my man Jake. Best advice ever, train on your own, train your mind. Because its just going to be you when the time comes and the darkness surrounds! 217, Hoo Yah!
Yo, Coach. Appreciate the tough love advice. These teenage adrenaline rush junkies need to challenge their aggression to a college degree. They can get the “rush” being a cop or firefighter. Pay and benefits are better and you probably wont die on your first mission. 😳Peace, Big Dawg
One of the biggest problem as a young person I see with other young people who want to be high achievers is still thinking it’s okay to have behaviors like typical young people more specifically naivety , like we can’t necessarily overcome lack of experience because that’s accrued with time usually but in 2024 we can definitely overcome the lack of knowledge issue that is a byproduct of being young , like there’s just not an excuse to not know certain shit anymore 😂😂 especially theses “life goals “ and huge commitments . And I think this type of work and conversation is valuable but if you’re cut from the cloth , you know when you’re ready and for sure wouldn’t need someone to hold your hand through it
Just awesome telling these guys what they need when they need it most. Setting them up for massive success and all they have to do is follow directions
David Goggins has this advice about The 1-Second Decision. Basic gist is you can get everything right but that 1-second decision that causes you to quit, and it is all over. I'm not sure how you do it, but you need to program your mind so deeply that even if you were exhausted, drunk and on drugs, you still wouldn't make that 1-second decision. The sleep walking you needs to have committed to what it is you're doing. Which leads to the next piece of advice, your career will require you to forego partying and relationship bullshit.
I was the average guy, I had to focus on training to get ready. Need to be running 45 plus miles a week. Need Fins on for some long swims. All this is good advice!

I raised a SO1. He was in high school swimming and cross country. He still got stress fractures in BUDS.
That's a abnormality ... stress fractures affect 20% of a class

That's great advice about training by yourself. It can be lonely out there on the road in the dark.
A podcast with you and Kenny Bigbee would be amazing!
Jake! For the algorithm!

Seems pretty mature for his age, just asking questions that don't matter. He'll be fine.
Don't know what you don't know.
Just one evo at a time. That’s it.
I love it. Realness 101
train in solitude 🔥🔥🔥🔥
It must be human nature to hear "1 out of 200" and think "no problem, whatever."
Awesome conversation as always 🙏🏼 🇺🇲
Wrestling is king

Reason why it has highest crossover ro MMA

How do you get a seal contract do you have to go to Meps first?
You have to go through meps and sign for another job in the Navy. Then you train with the mentors and take a PST. Once you pass they will switch to a seal contract
When your crushing your numbers then go see the recruiter
What data did the 1/200 highschoolers success rate come from? Just curious. Thanks
Probably the results of SQT graduates…
That is the number from BUDS

An 8:46 1.5 mile is crazy 😂
No crazy is 6:00 minutes I saw with my two eyes
I was in a prep class with 30 other dudes. 8:46 1.5 mile put you in the mid pack.
There are crazier times. One of stew smith’s trainees contracted with something like a 6:30 run and 6:00 500 swim… now thats crazy
@@captainofnumenor8221 did he make it
My uncle went through RIP in the late 80s, they had multiple dudes running 25 min 5 mile runs. There are monsters out there in these SOF programs.
