Please note, the bananas that were made were made for me to use for my meals for the family. Therefore I did not use gloves (who uses gloves when making breakfast lunch or dinner). The product I make to sell I do use gloves.
Parchment paper is nice and you can reuse it over and over as long as it stays clean and you use it on the same items. I have wanted a freeze dryer since they came out but never had the money to buy one..now I have the money and feel too old to use one lol..but I like watching other people freeze drying different things to see what works for them..thanks!
I have a bunch of things to try still. Kinda slacked last year when the wife got pregnant because she couldn’t handle smells. But now I’m back to it and trying a bunch of other things.
Your video was very helpful! I just purchased a medium size freeze dryer and trying to figure out the best method to keep the food’s structure and this was a great example. Thank you!
I'm thankful that you did this comparison. I just got my freeze dryer and would've probably used just the regular pan with nothing in it. Frustration avoided!
Glad the video was helpful! I used just the tray for a good 4 batches and it was super frustrating getting them off. now with the parchment and the silcone they just pop right off.
I have always used parchment paper and the only thing I don’t like is cutting it to fit the tray each time. Thank for the comparison. I think I will look into the silicone Matt’s just so I can save on time. I’m assuming they clean up really easy. 💜💜
You can get parchment sheets to fit your tray - perfect fit, no waste pieces. I have silicone and parchment and generally use the parchment for ease of use for stuff that sticks.
Silicone mats, have been using them for a year now. Much easier clean up and last a long time. I cut my own from larger oven baking sheets. They work great for almost everything.
What I use is the flexible cutting mat boards. Available at Dollar Tree 1.25 package of 2 Cut to size of tray Washable Nothing sticks Great to use in regular freezer to freezer dryer
Just got my freeze dryer up and running. I'm realizing that vegetables are easier to store simply because fruits are so yummy it's hard to keep up with the kids. Lol. Maybe I'll have to sneak package the next batch.
Hey give those kids some banana chips. LOL Love seeing those little hands wanting some. Would love to have some myself. Thanks for the info on the parchment paper vs the silicone mats.
Hmm... I love freeze dried bananas and would love to win them. You never said when you're actually giving them away though so I don't know if I'm too late or not. Either way, thanks for the info. I'm considering getting a freeze dryer and it's nice to see how others use them to help make a decision. 😅
I could only find parchment cut to size (large tray) for 30 cents each with shipping, which is $1.50 per batch. Parchment paper for baking trays is a lot cheaper and they are much larger, If I owned one of those big paper-cutting machines I would go that route.
Looks like parchment paper is the solution. Thanks for this video. Was surprised the plain tray had them stick so badly. Nevertheless. Your kids, or anyone, will gobble those broken bananas up!
Done the giveaway about 2 months ago. I still have an on going giveaway for a food saver its on another video of mine. And I will be doing a giveaway when I hit 500 subscribers (yet to be determined on prize but it'll be good)
Problem with silicone as you have to wash it each time I’d rather just work with the paper it probably cost me the same for paper as it does for water and effort to wash the silicone
You waisted the parchment paper. Parchment paper can be used multiple times. At least twice as long as you're doing more of the same food. Depending on what type of food I'm baking I've gone as far as using one sheet 4 times. I wipe it off with a paper towel in between uses.

I’ve seen ppl have the whole banana sliced and put on the trays right in the side. So they get more yield. Have you tried that? Any difference?
@@Finder76 I haven't tried it that way yet

I'm 62 and LOVE MINE! No more tossing out left overs or milk going bad.
Never too old! I've been regular dehydrating for years and finally was able to get my freeze dryer. I'm so happy I did.
I’m 74 and have had a FD for over a year. I have tubs and tubs of FD food. I also do pressure canning. I love both.
Your video was very helpful! I just purchased a medium size freeze dryer and trying to figure out the best method to keep the food’s structure and this was a great example. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! There are plenty of things to learn.
I put the slices on wooden skewers. This allows me many more slices per tray
thank you for the information. being new to freeze drying I love learning so I don't make the same mistakes. Thank you for doing these.
Glad it was helpful!
I just found your Chanel I’ve watched 2 so fare I got my freeze dryer in March just started using it.
They come in handy!
I'm new to FD. Lost chicken in mylar bags, didn't dry enough. Want to do bananas next.. great snack! Thanks for this video. This is a whole new world.
Hope you enjoy! And sorry about chicken. Do you have a moisture detector?

I've had the best luck with parchment paper and especially with using bigger pieces and leaving them standing up on edge, not cut side down
Just purchased our HR freeze dryer. This is very helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
This was a great video and very helpful. Haven't got my freeze dryer yet, so learning all I can.
Glad it was helpful! They are amazing machines.
Very good and informative video. I am new to the FD world and was hesitant to do bananas until now. Thank you!
You can do it! Just don’t to it on tray only. Make sure you use parchment paper or silicone pads!
I have always used parchment paper and the only thing I don’t like is cutting it to fit the tray each time. Thank for the comparison. I think I will look into the silicone Matt’s just so I can save on time. I’m assuming they clean up really easy. 💜💜
They are pretty easy to clean.
You can get parchment sheets to fit your tray - perfect fit, no waste pieces. I have silicone and parchment and generally use the parchment for ease of use for stuff that sticks.
Nice comparison. I like any freeze dried fruit.
Thank you! Fruits are my favorite!
I like the parchment paper best too

Good to know! Thank you. I might look into cutting my own

I love freeze dried bananas ❤
So does my kids!! They always want to grab them off the tray!

Hell YESSSS, BANNA CHIPS YESSS SRRRRRR. LOVE LOVE TO TRY THEM

Anytime I freeze dry all the kids want what ever is on the trays lol. Thanks for watching!
Hmm... I love freeze dried bananas and would love to win them. You never said when you're actually giving them away though so I don't know if I'm too late or not. Either way, thanks for the info. Don’t worry your not to late! I think I said when this video gets 100 likes. I also have another give away going on for a food saver!

I usually get parchment paper from sams club and just use scissors or a knife and cut mine to fit the tray.
Thanks for the test
No problem!
We Love freeze dried bananas and would love to win that!
They do taste amazing.
Silicon tray should be the best way. I would love to win the FD bananas.
Thank you for the comparison

Glad it was helpful! And yes kids gobble them up fast.
Great information!!
Thx
I would love to try your freeze dried 🍌 ❤

What was your setting set at for the bananas?
It was just the default setting. I didn't touch anything.
I'm going to hang out here with yall 😅
It’s a good place to hang.
Am I to late for the giveaway? I would love some fd bananas. Great demo. Thanks.

Bananas 🍌 for the win!
Bananas are quite amazing!
Congratulations you were the winner.
Who won?
Have not done drawing yet. Been extremely busy. Will be doing drawing soon!
Paper
The parchment paper worked really good.
Problem with silicone as you have to wash it each time I’d rather just work with the paper it probably cost me the same for paper as it does for water and effort to wash the silicone
I agree. I used the Silicone for a week and it's a pain to wash. I just get big rolls of parchment paper from sams club and cut it to size.
You waisted the parchment paper. Parchment paper can be used multiple times. At least twice as long as you're doing more of the same food. Depending on what type of food I'm baking I've gone as far as using one sheet 4 times. I wipe it off with a paper towel in between uses.
I started reusing it but change if I change what I'm freeze drying
Gross no gloves
When I use the things I freeze dry for myself or my family I don't use gloves but I do wash my hands. Do you use gloves when you make breakfast lunch or dinner? But for the items I sell I use gloves.
Gloves get just as dirty as hands.
