- While moored for a few days at Tixall Wide, we visited the stunning Shugborough Estate and enjoyed a lovely afternoon there with Pixel. When we finished at Great Haywood, we cruised along to Penkridge to use the facilities.

Appears as if Pixel is a 'natural' boat dog. It's funny watching Pixel take her position peering around the side of the boat to see where you all are going. And YES to the Asian food suggestion! Be well!
Haha, she’s the star of the show! 😉
I’m proud to say. Thanks to you two, I’m a scone baking madman! Your baking vlog on the subject helped me to brave the washing-up. And give it a GO! Next is you threes 2020:cruising plans.
Haha, you’re welcome! Scones are awesome!
Love Pixel in her life jacket, my wife wants to adopt her.
Haha, we got there first! 😉
Brilliant! Love your style, guys. Looking forward to sharing a meal, loads of cake, and maybe a tipple when our paths crossed. Lots of love from the Foxes 🦊 xx
Thanks Foxes, sounds like a fantastic evening! 😉 Looking forward to the launch of the lovely Silver Fox. Lots of love from the chefs! 👨🏻🍳👩🏻🍳 xx
THE LAST LORD LICHFIELD WAS PATRICK LICHFIELD WHO WAS A FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER.......From the swinging 60s on, an H was often mowed into the lawns to indicate where the helicopters should land. Now, instead of Mick Jagger, Princess Anne (holder of the all-time guest record on the miniature motor bike) Joanna Lumley, Ronnie Corbett and Britt Ekland, the public will be invited to wipe its boots and wander around the private life of the Queen's cousin....
Ryan the best way to open and close lock gates is put your bum against the beam and walk backwards. I enjoy the boating and cooking videos
Thanks Roger!
Greetings from Melbourne guys, yet another lovely make you feel good video. Thanks Heaps.
Hi Dean, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
That was great. Your vlogs are getting better and better. XX
Thanks Annie, it’s all a learning process!
Great Vlog again guys. Seeing canal is good but nice to see some of those big house's and villages you stop at. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, pleased you enjoyed it!
what a gorgeous estate, absolutely lovely
It’s stunning! 😊
Hi guys. Great video....again. Just a thought, when filling up with fresh water, before putting the hose into your tank filler, I always allow a couple of gallons/ few litres to run into the canal to flush the hose through to get rid of any bacteria or bugs that have got into the hose.
Yep, we do that as well, just didn’t put it into the video! 😊
The food was great we loved the lamb wraps & the lemon cheese cake 🌯🍰
Mmm, two of our favourites as well!
I really enjoy your cruising VLOGS! Even Pixel is having a good time.
Thanks! She does enjoy it!
Thank you for the footage of Shugborough Estate. Here, in the Appalachian Mountains, where I am vacationing, we have log cabins from the 1800's as listed buildings. Big difference in scale and interior design. Looking forward to more videos.
Ooh, log cabins in the mountains sounds amazing!
Log cabins are OK. However, when you've seen one old log cabin, you've pretty much seen them all. In the US, we have some structures, like log cabins, between 100-200 years old. A few from Colonial times 1600-1750AD. Then the next old structures are from 2000-1000BC, or Native Americans. In the UK, you have a rich architectural history from several centuries that are preserved and available for viewing via the National Trust. Then, there are the Stone, Bronze and Iron Age structures and sites. I do envy you such a plethora of history in a country only about twice the area of my home state Florida!
Yes, there is so much history over here, another one of the reasons we wanted to move here!
Great vlog. If in lived in Uk, I'd love to have the NT Pass. Thanks for sharing your visit. Hope you take us along on all your visits. I love the beautiful homes in the UK. The US doesn't have nearly as many and most are many hours apart. The passes are individual as well and can be quite pricey. Thanks again. Love your cooking vlogs too. Tell Pixel "hello" from the US!! 😄
Thanks! We’re pleased that we bought the NT pass, really looking forward to seeing more places. The good thing about the UK is it’s quite small compared to the US or Australia so going anywhere doesn’t take nearly as long (unless you travel by canal boat of course)!
I want to visit Shugborough Estate from the canal just so that I can walk across that bridge. Looks like a lovely place to spend a few hours, will put it on the list.
great relaxing vid
Brilliant guys, and the music you put with it was perfect.....loved the whole thing.
Thanks Steve!
I'm also a member of the NT and I did wonder how many NT properties were within easy reach of the cut so therein lies the challenge - go map them all on your travels so I don't have to :)
The weather looks lovely. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Great vlog as always. Safe cruising guys
Thanks! 😊
Great video guys
Thanks
Great vlog again keep them coming my wife and I love the mix of boating and cooking. And we had a go at some of your recipes 👍
Thanks! How did the food turn out?
Lovely video thank you M&R, you won't regret joining the N trust they own some lovely places. Is there anything like the N trust back in oz? We found after a while the houses all started to look the same but the gardens are what we really enjoy. Oh and the tea rooms and you can buy mead at most of their shops not that you two would ever touch the stuff.
We don’t really have a NT in Aus, not enough to really preserve. The few buildings that are preserved are usually done so by local councils or groups.
Actually, we both want to try mead and didn’t realise it could be bought from NT shops!! Will keep our eyes peeled!
@@NarrowboatChef There is an Australian NT, but of course everything is really spread out which makes visiting places a bit of a logistical challenge. It does have reciprocal rights with the UK NT though.
Well, learn something new every day! 🤣
Very bucolic...love the cuddly cosy little country house and especially its lovely walled kitchen garden...such great soil for growing yummy green things...very envious of that rich dark loam. ( It's a gardener's thing ! )
Super vlog. ..ta again.
A quick question. ..What's that purpose of that thin antenna on your boat...which features very prominently right in the middle of your "look ahead" shots? I see it on many nb's...(It just squeaks in under bridges too...phew)
Is there a boaters CB network or is it a mobile phone mast or a super-spy official CRT location beacon or something like that?
Lol, super spy location beacon! 😂🤣 It’s an antenna for the secret Boat Tubers radio network! 😜
I was pleased with the puttering, but I must admit, I expected more sauntering.
😂🤣 We will try to oblige next time!
Did you get to go to the market at Penkridge ? On Wednesday they have a poultry auction and is where I bought my girls from.
We completely forgot about the markets! We wanted to go, but it slipped our minds. 😣
Great Vlog guys, hope you guys share the sh---y chores lol , what is the tall white tower you have on top of the boat for Wifi ?
🤣 Maggie does all ‘those’ chores... The tower is for the wifi, yes 😊
Like ... could you ski behind yiur boat ...😁pip pips and carryon
🤣🤣
Hi guys, how many tunnels can you come across in one day, just cruising along the canal ,
Hmm, not sure, we haven’t travelled all the canals yet... I wouldn’t think it would be more than maybe two in one day? They aren’t all that common 😊
Did pixel go in he hall?
No, dogs aren’t allowed inside
what do you do for work??
Maggie has her own online business doing website design, Ryan is in charge of all the recipes for the channel 🙂
:)
🙂
