Welcome to another Mortal Kombat 11!
Now In today history of video since we are now In the come down phase of Aftermath, I will be talking about the god of death and a child of the titan Kronika, the fallen elder god Shinnok!
In order for me to talk about Shinnok properly I need to go far back to the original timeline and explain the origins of the mortal kombat universe, the clash and battle with the one being and the fall out from the creation of the realms as It Is a ket part of the Mortal Kombat lore!
Now their has been some slight tweaks and changes In the rebooted timeline but nothing that fundamentally changes the character too much as we will see!
So In this video I will be going though the entire characters backstory from the dawn of time up to his boss fight In mythologies, his official main instalment debut In Mortal Kombat 4, his return In Armageddon and his reboot return In MK9 as well as Mortal Kombat X!
I hope you enjoy this video as Its recaps the existence of a rather important character In the Mortal Kombat universe, being an elder god and child of a Titan put him In a rather pivotal place within the universe which we do see In Mortal kombat 11 with the appearance of Kronika!

I miss Shinnok and Quan Chi being apart of the storyline
The history is: Shinok escapes the amulet,then gets defeated by a 40 year old man,then goes back in the amulet,then escapes again,then gets defeated by a 20 year old girl,then lived happily ever after......as a head

Shinnok waa always my favorite Kombatant.
I didn't like how cetrion was just shoehorned into being shinnok's sister,when she has zero presence in the original timeline(story wise)and I feel cetrion as a character wasn't utilized better as a character,she(like geras)was just a mindless servant to kronika,with no agency of her own.
Before the game came out i thought geras and kronika were so powerful that raiden had to team up with the elder gods to beat them. Turns out all 4 of the new characters where ultra weak jobbers
We had to deal with Kollector, Frost, and Cetrion in MK11 but NO REPTILE. WTH Netherealm?!

I think it would have been good if we had a Cetrion chapter in which she defeats Cassie and states that it was her energy all along that helped latter and her father in defeating Shinnok.
Cetrion is so sad...just wanted to make her mother proud! 🥺🦋

My cousin was getting into mortal kombat barely and thought Shinnok was a brand new character in MKX and I had to explain to him that he was an older character from the 4th mortal kombat game

One of my friends is just getting into MK, with MK X being her first game and she thought that Kabal was a new character. I haven't played 11 yet so I dunno what they did to his character, but I had to politely explain to her that Kabal was around during the time of MK3. Made me feel old as hell.
EDIT: She had heard of MK previously and looked it up. I just realized how little she must have researched to think Kabal was new.

Not just Shinnok. Shao Kahn was defeated by Kitana, a not-so-strong character but in MK11 he was basically a joke
People forget that Onaga did not fear his minion,Shao kahn and still believed he could defeat kahn during Armageddon. Unfortunately for him, shao kahn has grown in power since onagas death and defeated him. Onaga still believed he could win so the power difference mustn’t have been too big. Meanwhile Onaga met Shinnok in the nether realm and however brief,Onaga swore allegiance to be Shinnoks minion...Onaga,the one who shao kahn once feared, onaga a being who feared no one not even shao kahn actually worried about someone being Shinnok! Onaga isn’t like to swear allegiance to anyone for any reason and if he was stronger than shinnok he would’ve simply forced shinnok to release him. But he can’t,he knows this. He even said had I gone through with Shinnoks plans,I would surely be amongst the dead. Also he mentioned killing shao kahn in Armageddon (which didn’t happen) and then attaining blazes power in order to defeat Shinnok....That alone proves he knows he cannot defeat Shinnok on his own. Onaga himself is a monster but even he is no fool and acknowledges Shinnoks own elder god powers. It ONAGA the dragon king and empower of outworld whom Shao kahn was his bitch at one time worried about shinnok it only proves how powerful and underrated shinnok is. Onaga seemed like he feared Shinnok destroying him than Shinnok fearing Onaga destroying him. There was no mention of Shinnok fearing Onaga in anyway. I’m sure he just saw onaga himself as a very powerful minion and tool.

I want Shaolin Monks 2 with that Kung Lao ending being the perfect setup. Let's get a side game, open world, travel the realms, end with competing in the original tournament or something, OR since it's a new time line over all do whatever you want, you find Shao Khan midway through the story and he is still a kid or something, a brief moment when Fire God Liu Kang debates with OG Kung Lao about killing him or something, have the dragon king still be in control of out world. Order and chaos realms involved in a smaller story or merging the realms in an entirely different way. Idk make it about the Krispy Kreme red light or something anything that's different, overall the Liu Kang ending could be the perfect setup for Shaolin Monks 2

I don't really know the backstory mate. My comment had nothing to do with the story, I merely stated that just because he's in hell, it doesn't necessarily mean he's dead. Talking more in a general, fictional sense.
They use Shinnoks head to harness his dark emergies. Without the head they wouldn't be able! to summon their undead army.

I love the mythology behind mortal kombat so cool that it exists at all really I love the story in each game
Daegon turns against his family and kills them = Shinnok turns against the Elder Gods and fights against them
This is WHY I want Taven to be the main good guy and Daegon and Onaga to be the main bad guys in MK12.
As an anti hero or something, I would like to see Shinnok return in Mortal Kombat 12 fighting against dark Raiden, Fujin, Shao Kahn,
Sindel, and Onaga.
Also, he should have been defeated by Kenshi instead of Cassie Cage

Pretty sure we're looking at a Trilogy/Armageddon like game for the next MK so he'll be in it with everyone else.
At first I thought it was Shinnok who was pulling the strings in the events of MK9 and MKX if not Shao Kahn. Until latter... all of his war on the Elder Gods were part of his mother’s plans. Kronika, to me, felt like the true main Antagonist because she wants her version of the timeline the way it should be. But after Dark Raiden beheaded her son, Kronika felt unaccepted of his actions. So she decided to merged both past and present in hope of resenting the timeline with her devine children balancing light & dark among the realms.

It's tough to choose whose the best MK villain. It's either Shao Khan or Shinok. I'm a big Shao Khan so I'm going with Shao Khan but it's a close .

Well after kronika, his mother, being killed, it wouldn’t make sense for shinnok to appear in future stories. Though I would still like to have him thanks to DLCs at the least.

2. Was Quan Chi like a natural born demon? Or just a dead dude?
3. Who is Shinnok's brother?
4. In the new timeline, was the one being still defeated by the Elder Gods or by the Titans?

There are many realms (Zaterra, Vaeternus, Dreamrealm, many others) but not more Kamidogu.
Quan Chi's origin has been retconned over the years. He was originally said to have been an outsider to the Netherrealm but later retconned this to say he was an Oni.
The One Being's origin hasn't changed (but it is harder to make sense of).

Quan chi is a demon a lot of demons could take on a human like form which is why u see sareena as a human but she is a Demon

Can someone please explain the journey of Shinnok's amulet? Like how did Quan-Chi know that Raiden used the Kamidogu to conceal the amulet? He had to have learned it somehow. Otherwise why use Havik in order to acquire it? I have read the MK:X comics and things are still a bit murky for me.

I have 2 theories on shinnok
Theory 1 shinnok might be the one being son, since he has a ending in MKX where the one being kills all the elder gods except for shinnok, I forgot where I read or heard the fact were onaga is the reincarnation of the one being, onaga was banished to netherealm in MK Deception and met shinnok and plotted for MK Armageddon working together instead of killing each other, in sub zero mythologies shinnok has a dragon like appearance.
Theory 2 Shinnok had vision of the rebooted timeline just like raiden got visions and manipulate certain events to get all of raiden warrios as his revenant servants to build his army to take over earthrealm

Theory 2 seems likely actually.
Because of the fact that the Lui Kang ending in Aftermath is canon, Shinnok and his other fellow Elder Gods (excluding the One Being, of course) were erased from existence, given the fact that they're responsible for everything that happened around here.

Anyone wonder why in X the Jinsei was in a temple on top of a mountain, then in 11 it was at the bottom of a tower, then in the same game they explained the dragon grotto was right above it? They can’t keep any continuity in these games I swear.
even though NRS is known for their terrible plot holes(kronika/cetrion) and retcons(sindel),the whole jinsei thing isn't a plot hole,there's probably more than one temple that has jinsei in it.

I think the next villain will be Onaga and the Titans (only the ones who supported Kronika) which will kind of follow the Mortal Kombat Deception story in a very very different way. It will be more fun if Netherealm Studios crafted more new villains rather than using the original villains of Mortal Kombat such as the leaders of Chaos Realm.
It's possible that Onaga himself is a Titan it is unlikely but possible

When is mk gonna go more in detail about the elder gods? There's the OG EG Shinnok, and the newly introduced Cetrion and the Great Spirit, if Nightwolf's intos are to be believed. But other than them none of the Elder gods have names, proper motivations, established divine powers, or anything. I want to know who led the charge against the One Being, who's idea it was to hold the interrealm tournament to decide the fate of realms, and who decided the policy of nonnterference in the realms.
Did any of the other elder gods in mk have titans for parents?
Seems to me that The Great Spirit is more akin to a Protector than an Elder. But other than that I completely agree, it would be really nice to know more about them.

Hey History Behind the Warrior, remember in MK11 Kronika needed souls for her crown and she approached and imprisoned Shang Tsung in the void ,not to mention she was guarding the soul chamber on Shang Tsung's island so, how come she never approached or mentioned Ermac (U now the being of over 10,000 souls)?
Because shang tsung stole his souls to resurrect himself

Honest question,before raiden rebooted the timeline when would have onaga woken up as he is still in the timeline and still will wake up,im just wondering as even with all the time messing and such im shocked that raiden doesn't seem to really...care about him as his army is left untouched along with his tomb in the new timeline from my knowledge

@@gwroly he only saw small bits of the original timeline where onaga appeared. However the visions disappeared after shao kahns death which took place years before onaga would be resurrected.

What if MK makes a spin off called Realms of God's? It's a story of the elder, demi gods and the boss would be the one being or a Titan. The story would take place before the mk tournaments. New story, new setting, new characters plus dlc of old ones. What do y'all think?
