Have you guys considered making or commissioning a visualizer for your website for people looking at what wheels look good on their car? I think that'd be a great idea.
@NoNonsensePC but a greatly appreciated one for people unsure about what wheels they want. A very basic option is pretty simple, but when you add details such as offset, camber, width, and maybe even tires, it would be intense.
What are some companies that use a LESS EFFICIENT rotary forged method? (like you mentioned, only spinning 50% of the barrel or less)? Would like to know so can avoid those particular wheels...👀
@@johns818 movin on up! What kind of car and what set up? Mine is a 2005 audi a8 4.2lv8. Going with a 20x10 Tsw geneva in silver with a 275\35 tire. Should arrive in 2 weeks for spring!
@@JDJD-mw9rr 2007 bmw 550i.. the TSW wheels I want look like the BBS LM.. my current setup is fr 245/19/35 rr 275/19/30. even if the TSW are 3 lb lighter per wheel I'll be ecstatic.
I want the Konig Hypergram. They offer the exact size and fitment I want, they offer a few more color options and great quality paint, they'd look good on my car and they're just as light (talking pennies worth of weight difference) as the Enkei RPF1's at HALF the cost. But the lack of a lifetime structural warranty has me leaning toward the Motegi MR131. It's a buzzkill for me. If I had my old Mazda3, I'd get ESR over VarrStoens anyday, solely for the structural warranty.
Also consider Braid. Their flowformed (FF) series wheels are very light, very strong, and very affordable right now because of how strong the US dollar is against the euro. These are so strong in fact that they are used in stage rally in the UK/Europe as they can be ordered in just about any PCD/centerbore and offset. Great video, keep up the great work.
Well what I learned through my own research is that a good cast wheel is comparable to a rotary forged wheel. If it weighs 30 lbs., or less and has the same load handling capacity as a similar rotary forged wheel, then the cast wheel is just as good and for less money.
May be comparable in strength, but lighter weight improves all performance. My is350 stock wheels were roughly 30lbs each. My enkei wheels are roughly 21lbs each and no doubt stronger. That's 9lbs per corner of unsprung weight. I've read each 1 pound of unsprung weight removed is equal to 3-4lbs of sprung weight. Acceleration is snappier, steering feel is much better and ride is much more compliant.
NO! the part needing to be strongest is around the lugs and the outer rim edge. The only way to make the rim lip super light is to forge them. Just the air pressure on the lip of a wheel is usually more than the weight on the wheel at rest. With 35 psi over 50 square inches in an average 20x9 wheel, that is 875lbs over the surface of each wheel lip, or 1750lbs per wheel! The spokes take up a lot less pressure than youd think too even on bumps as its spread and has suspension, and air to dampen blows
I bought some already been used wheels. American racing brand. They are all-fashioned so I couldn't find the particular model name. On the outer side they have longitudinal grooves, so does it mean that they were rotary forged or it's also might be the cast wheels?
ya but, does lowering unsprung weight by lowering wheel weight make the suspension rougher, if not changed out to adapt for the lower weight? BC if the OEM springs, etc. are kept, and the weight goes down by say 5lb/wheel, then the struts, etc. would be pushing higher pressure against the wheel, making for a rougher ride. ??
I've been seeing comments about Centerline wheels and Rocket Racing Wheels... Are they any good? Does either of those brands still make rims under 17"? You know rims like the ones that look good on old muscle cars.
Yes, they are "legit". and legit being they use the flow form process that everyone, and when i say everyone that does flow forge, uses. Pressure Cast Face, Heat Forged barrel. 25% lighter and stronger than cast. I see people tracking and drifting on ESR RF1s and RF2s with zero issues and all they have to say is good thing about them.
Same thing. Each brand has their own fancy name for their technology in the way the wheel is made. Flow formed, spin formed, spin forged, flow forged etc.
if price is equal between full Rotary Forged wheel and full carbon fiber wheel, what would you guy's pick for every day use in all weather season's for some period of time, say, next 10year's? wheel's are smaller size 15''x 6J or 16''x6,5J. And what brand's would you recomend for us viewers in europe(Croatia)?
Can you guys make videos for us muscle car guys out here like top 5 or 10 wheels for one etc. Also can you do a history of dub wheels I think that would be cool with how big they were in the early 2000s.
I'm currently torn between the Verde Form VFF02 and Rohana RFX11 gonna pull the trigger when i get paid this week, but so far my game plan is to flip a coin and go with it haha
Jorge Zorros Xamaica you can find forged wheels for the same price depending on brand and size they’re not that much more expensive. Keep in mind this is brand subjective
We have a ton of options in staggered fitment. Kind of personal preference for the "look" your going for. Have you tried scoping out our fitment gallery to see what other vette owners are running? Always a good place to start and see if anything pops out.
LOL those are NOT fully forged 1 piece wheels. both of those brand and wheels are Rotary Forged, Flow Form, Radial Forged or whatever the company calls it. You can almost 100% of the time say if its not made in USA its not fully forge 6061 T6 Aluminum.
@@ir4kk i thought 527F are fully forged and just cheap because of its brand but in same processed/contruction/material as any fully forged wheel?well volks will for sure expensive because of the brand name.well compare any fully forge volks to any fully forge of HRE.now u can see that u are just paying for the bran name but both are the same fully forged.

Would be amazing tbh
Why is this not pinned or liked that would be perfect reason why im sketch about buying some that the gallery doesn't
thats all opinion honestly. don't have someone else build it for you. its YOUR car.

I literally had someone tell me one time "I thought rotary forged was a Mazda thing?"
lol. That's funny
Rotary ... all forged internals

Would you recommend rotary forged wheels for heavier cars like the Lexus IS-F and BMW M5?
Been watching your vids forever and just went wheel shopping on your site for the first time. I have to say I'm impressed! Keep up the good work.
so what is the difference between flow formed wheels and rotary forged the process sounds identical or is it another name for the same thing?

Any brand offering affordable forged wheels?
Well what I learned through my own research is that a good cast wheel is comparable to a rotary forged wheel. If it weighs 30 lbs., or less and has the same load handling capacity as a similar rotary forged wheel, then the cast wheel is just as good and for less money.

So the part of the wheel that needs to be the strongest is still basically a cast weak point.
