@@jonhutchin6648 opening up the fuel rack gives more fuel & the turbo will provide more O2 to burn the fuel thus giving more power. What you see is "turbo lag" in which the turbo hasn't spooled up enough to provide enough air for combustion. Also when the diesel is under load, it will smoke more. Some pulling tractors have 4 turbochargers(3 stage). The disadvantage is the tremendous amount of heat. So intercoolers for the intake air have to be used
