Check the link below the video for more info......the mallets i use are steel drum mallets, you can get them at any of the steel drum places on line....or just type in Tongue Drum mallets, there are a lot of different kinds on line....just keep this in mind.......the more rubber on the tips the warmer the sound.....Thanks.
Hi, Tyrone. Very good sound. Hou can i buy this instrument? I have ear other "tongue drums", but they don't have the sound like this of your video (i dont speak english very wel... i'm from brasil) Whats is the exactly name of this instrument that you play in this video? Thanks!
In the website www.tonguedrums.com, I ear the sound of 12 Keys Standard in D MAJOR. Perfect. Very good. It's possible send the instruments to Brazil? How much? Thanks
Thanks Eduardo, I forwarded your info to Steve Roberts at Tonguedrum.com.I will call him to be on the safe side, I'm sure he can get you one to Brazil.....not sure what the cost would be.
Kind of a foreign instrument to me. Ran into this page by accident. Absolutely love the sound AND the artist playing it. Very UNIQUE! How much of a challenge is it to play jazz on this instrument? Should you treat this instrument like a vibraphone/xylophone? May I challenge you to play some jazz and post it to TH-cam?
Looks like Steve made some really nice sounding drums. Playing THREE at a time is quite an accomplishment. Nicely done once again. I have some of Steve's drums as well. I heard of your work through him.
Хорошее исполнение, так нравится и хочется воплотить эту мелодию на Араай Мбире, думаю в дальнейшем воплотить такой инструмент своими силами и тоже играть на нём.
"Tambores de hendidura" or "instrumentos de raja". Go to the english wikipedia entry, scroll down and look to the left for the articles in other languages. ;)
@zaferlamizik Im not sure, u can check with Steve @ the link below the video he can tell you more about all of that....he knows what work good togather.
Sounds really great and relaxing. Only the distortion is a bit annoying - it looks you had professional miking there.... Anyway, thanks for uploading! ;)
Dude I'm seriously in love with, not only, the sounds, texture, and timbre of this new discovered (for me) instrument, but also YOUR compositions on it. They're truly beautiful in tonality and rhythm. So, where can I get one of these, as well as, the other tongue drum metal plate thingy? Also, I assume these are like dulcimers, in that, they are in one key, and either notated in its major/minor scale/triads? Anyways thank you for your time, music, and im looking forward to hearing back from you bc i totally want to incorporate these instruments in our upcoming release ! Thanks!!
Thanks 😊, check out more on my TH-cam channel...Steve Roberts made these for me, I don't think he is making them anymore..I would recommend you check out ( Woodpack Tongue Drums, Tamboa Tongue Drums or Hardwood Music Tongue Drums ) they're doing some great work 👌
Thanks....the sound I had on this is not what I really liked but it was all I had at the time...recordings had a lot of hiss in them.... now I'm using better stuff. Audio-Technica 3035 (Discontinued ) is the best microphone I have heard for recording tongue drums very low self- noise ( 12 db SPL )......you can still find them used for a good price. Shure SM57 is an all around good mic as well, been around for a long time......two of these for basic recording should be fine.
Thank you very much for this information. I like very much your albums which I bought. I felt in love with this instrument. I have Hardwood music drums which are amazing too
I've been searching for music that incorporates the tongue drum. Does anyone know of any artists, outside of Tyrone, that you could recommend? Searching for the tongue drum only provides a list of retailers and manufacturers.
@@TDrumandbassmusic show off 😬lol. This is simply amazing!!! Nicest sounding piece ive heard since discovering SOLO FOR LOTUS on the kalimba by Saragama. You two should collaborate-!!! 10/10👍
+Rafael J. Davidson Thanks.....yah I know, one of my first videos......I had to get a better line input for my camera.....hard to get a good sound with this one.
I've never this kind of music before! It's beautiful. Very melodic.
you've never what
You never this kind? I have this kind before.
Never
He prolly missed or forgot to type “heard”, it happens to me too.

Tyrone, thank you for your many wonderful videos, which always give me much pleasure. If I ever get to be 1/10th as good as you are, I'll be happy.
Thanks for the kind words...it comes from above. 🙏😊

you just earned yourself a sub!!! plus this would be perfect in some sort of cave in a video game!!!
Thanks again vlwallace224.
Certainly the best Tongue Drum playing I have heard. What are you using for mallets?
Wow! I can fall asleep to this! :) Thx man! :D PURE Epicness! :D
I Love that Sound
@scpjmartinThank you, there the lead mallets made for steel drums.

Love this it's like relaxing rain on a roof
TH-cam made this audio quality bad ... this is anoying, its seem to sound great but i can only hear these artifacts in the sond
i enjoy this sound a lot.
Sounds really great and relaxing. Only the distortion is a bit annoying - it looks you had professional miking there....
Anyway, thanks for uploading! ;)
thanks for this moment
It sounds so much better with reverb! :D
Wooden tongue drum sounds nice enough without it tho.
Excellent playing. I think the mix is a little off, like maybe input is too high causing distortion? Lovely sounds nonetheless.
AWESOME thanks. :)
"X-files" theme please?! wicked sweet!
Thank you very much! Is that from left to right (your POV) ??
Thank you!
@diegocharango I don't know the answer to that one?????????
Debe ser "Tambor de lengüetas", algo así como un Teponaxtli azteca polifónico.
Hi Can you please tell me which scales these are?
Gorgeous!

No problem.....Hardwood Music makes is a very good drum.

Is this a piece, or are you just improvising? Sounds great, though the sound quality could be better.
You have great musicality. Can you please tell me what type of mallets you're using?
Thanks much
These are Steel Drum mallets.........( the LEAD ones) from Kakesa.com., the one's called Dbl.Sec and Cello/Gtr also sound nice.
Tyrone Douglas Thank you
Why is it called a tongue drum? I'd love to learn about how its designed and built.
@EasyBacon Thanks, yah with the Verd on it, everything opens up..:)
