  • The steel tongue drum is a modern instrument where slits are carved into a thick metal body, forming tongues that are tuned to different notes. It's pretty easy to play, so check it out! In this video, I talk about the history, demonstrate playing a sample song, and say why it could make a useful tool for adding sound to your magick.
Music should be accessible for everyone, especially for use in ritual or magickal practices. I know a lot of people feel like you have to have talent or ability, but that's not the case. My goal for this video series is to show you easy instruments that don't require much, if any, practice.

Hi ! I use tongue drums for therapy in a memory care facility. My little peeps just love it. I make sure the drums are all in the same key..I float a little Native American flute over the tongue drums (sometimes hulusi... sometimes kalimba) . With some of my peeps, this is the first instrument they have ever played and some are in their 90's! They are beginning to listen to each other when to come in and they're even teaching each other different tips. These are people who don't know where they live or remember their last names. We keep getting more tongue drums and I bring my own in along with frame drums and sometimes a guzheng. They love to get down and jam. Like you said "Music for Everyone"!

Got one coming in a 14 inch, same color and everything for $75. Try this, say toy boat three times as fast as you can, then do it again. If you can't do it, just think it without saying it and you'll still screw it up.

@@AerikArkadian in all seriousness, do you remove the plastic plug in the bottom of the drum? I saw someone set it a pillow, seems like it would loose a lot of sound.

My bottom plug feels like rubber. I keep it in or there are too many overtone vibrations and it sounds buzzy. If I set my drum directly on our tile floor, you can hear the feet vibrating. I find that I get a much better sound by setting it on a bath mat… it’s enough to dampen the foot vibrations but doesn’t touch the metal of the drum. Obviously takes a little bit of experimentation to find the best sound.

the particular 14note Hluru drum you have is really nice for a budget priced drums, I play it all the time. It has a nice earthy tone that is very soothing for me. it is also easy to play with hands as well. I have a play list of songs played on this drum here if anyone is interested in hearing some more - th-cam.com/play/PLl9Ja6mnPlbDi7BRpT68yGV7EaXmJU_yv.html
