I’m so happy to have 100% completed my collection of Mighty Max this year. This toy line needs to be revived. It was amazing how detailed and fun they were.
At 22:50 you show a silver lid on a red part. Someone at Bluebird was having some fun: the silver lid is the top hatch of a Star Wars TIE Fighter exactly, barely altered. I had Vader’s TIE model kit in 1977 and I recognized it immediately!
Awesome playsets. Skull Mountain is amazing, I got mine a couple of months ago complete in box, really good stuff. It is the final adventure of series one, so it came out before the cartoon, that's why Max is smaller, Skull Master and Warmonger look diferent and why Virgil and Norman are not included, although if you have an extra spare, they fit realy well ,) I love your Mighty Max videos, keep em coming. One of the things i did when i used to own Skull Mountain, i had the other monsters from my other sets in the castle because it was more fun for me to play with. In fact I was planning on buying Judy the skull mountain set and getting the mighty max pieces separately just for budgeting purposes mostly, but now with even more micro figures growing in popularity, i could use them with this set as well. Frankly I am not as obsessed with keeping the figures with their respective sets for the sake of "authenticity" or whatever. More power to you if you do, however for me I buy sets to play with.
Yeah, heh heh, I only realised once I posted this episode. It's why I try and include the back of the box so that viewers can see what was originally included in the set. Because sometimes It's hard to find the information online. I'm not helping by getting it wrong either, but these comments are fantastic, thanks so much for sharing.

can get the fire war planet and the gormitti volcano and have a whole mini fire thing going. get you some like orange fuzzy carpet to represent a firey lake. i always thought the sea animals that came with skull mountain were lava dwelling
Probably because it was from their last sets perhaps and the series was coming to an end,they didn't wanted to give too much attention to details inside the mountain for less expenses! Classic from a company that see that the property doesn't go so well as they planned! 😅
If I don't go wrong (my memory could be playing tricks on me), there should be some crevice in the black base which perfectly fit the rock monster, allowing it to blend quite seamlessly with the surrounding
The toys came first, the show came after, therefore war monger was originally orange in the set, but after the show grew in popularity the color was changed and they added virgil and norman figures. I know my Skull Mountain set War Monger was orange.
Thanks buddy, I've tried to make it clear when the toys influenced the show and then, when the show influenced the toy. Skull Mountain is one of the older sets, from before the TV show was even released... Which is interesting to look back at how quickly things changed once the TV show and the playsets were being released side-by-side. Thanks so much for the comment.
@@LeftoverculturereviewLeftovers Yep I think after the show picked up and gained popularity, they repackaged it with Norman and Virgil, as well as added skull master looking like from the show and kept the wizard thing. Not too sure. I really need to go through my parents attic and look for my old toys. I think i might have skull mountain, Ape King, and the snake doom zone set. It's also possible that i had to sell it or my mom did. I hope to get skull mountain again and the hand. However Ebay is full of idiots selling box only or sets with broken or missing pieces. One day Ill stumble upon a retro themed shop and find them. I also hope to find some promo sets that never sold.

when i got Magus for my 6th birthday, i never knew the companion i was about to gain.
I got this set on Christmass when i was like 10, still have it, the only thing i missed is the eye that you can throw with the axe.

Just an epic playset. Mighty max always seemed a little pricey to me as a kid but I remember this set being quite expensive even back then.

I still have my Blasts Magus set to this day, just missing the lava monster that attaches to the back but other than that its still in good condition!
Magus comes with one lava biker, but if you source a second one, there are locking points in the other leg too. Looks even better with both installed.
