Huh, far from it. It actually stands out like a sore thumb! Because the diorama is treating the dreadnoughts as a mech suit when any sort of cursory glance at the lore behind dreadnoughts in Warhammer universe will tell you they are walking coffins where dying warriors are sealed within metal tomb so they may live on a fight once more before scrambling to the madness of perpetual undeath.
@@HQRubbish better that someone speak their mind and correct the mistakes early than to go on with it and be ridiculed later for something they should have known. All the guy needs to do is remove the dude sticking his head out of the dreadnought and replace it with the corrected head and the piece would look factually correct. Well sort off, dreadnoughts are chained down when not in active use because there isn’t actually a way to switch them off but that’s not as strikingly important as misconstruing a dreadnought as tau mech suit.
@@swaggaming2564Look if this arsehole hadn’t just clicked baited us by putting Warhammer in the title when the video has nothing to do with Warhammer we would be having this conversation. For one because TH-cam would not even have recommended this video too me in the first place. So boyo this is just reaping what you sow!
Alex what an incredible piece! It's like a 3d Norman Rockwell painting, somehow timeless and personal, like a treasured memory. But at the same time futuristic and hopeful and fun despite the bleak nature. And that is only the diorama - the composition of you film!!! You leave me speechless.
Just to say, this has been the most miserable period of my life, what with the revelation of my wifes affair, divorcing, remortgaging, depression and very dark thoughts, these vids (amongst other things of course) have been of great help. And its not even the painting and modelling (which is excellent), its actually your voice which is extremely calming. Thank you for your hard work.
I’m sorry to hear about all the things you are going through Ben. It gladdens me to hear that the videos can help out. It’s rather humbling. And I mean, don’t forget about talking to a professional if the thoughts get to dark. 💜
This has simply become the best mini painting content on TH-cam. Intersting topics, interesting minis, great script, amazing cinematography, entertaining yet teaching. Bravo. 🎉10/10 would watch again.
Tremendous quality, Alex! This is a remarkable result, and I have to say - the editing, sound, color grading, and NARRATION make for an experience that is both cinematic and relaxing. Way to go!
Its all about the Texture, weaving a story through an artistic offering. Thank you for the great content Alex, and allowing your art to tell us a story worth hearing.
This is great. The scene feels alive, I can practically smell the bread, sausage and coffee the crew shared for lunch just a couple minutes ago, hear their complicated technical chatter and the sound of the monkey wrench
Wonderful video. Clear and helpful from start to finish, and the cinematic was a real treat. Thank you for explaining each step in such detail, and keeping really high quality video and audio. Was a pleasure and inspiring to watch
Glad I finally got to watch this. The muted matte colors really made this feel right in the time period you’d expect, and you did an amazing job blending it all together to look like they really could all live together in a world somewhere. Awesome job!
I'm not into diaoramas, until this video. I throughly enjoyed it. Want to admit the audio is very well crafted I had experience of listening to good audiobook narrated by professional actor. Thank you again
Hi Alex, welcome back, it's always a pleasure to see you working on a mini or a small diorama, it's wonderful how you can put together different pieces from different worlds, and make them work, it's always a pleasure to meet you again in your videos, thanks
Ah, the eternal struggle of being a creative: finding the balance between could and should, of course there's nothing wrong with having lofty goals if you know how to bite them off at the right points, a diorama made of smaller dioramas as it were :) I do adore how this turned out and the story and backstory, it's really neat over all!
first video i've seen of this channel, safe to say i'm subscribed now. can really tell that your crafting is a labor of love in this! can't wait to see more
What a motivating inspiration for a Summer project that isn't the perennial "Get an army of 90 models painted!" Despite the hours I've spent copying the techniques of Marco, Riccardo Angostini and Vince, I still can't paint a stunning art piece for the shelf. It seems I can though model a unique display piece combining my painting with the scale modelling of my teens and some great looking, clever terrain painting ideas Who knew? (well till I watched this) So cool, I'm absolutely doing it
i dont even know where to begin, the storytelling of the video itself, the storytelling embedded into the diorama, the skill of the painting/construction etc, im just so glad i came across this channel. liked, subbed, bell rung.
Good grief, the printer is like the obelisk in Space 2001 :D Hope you lifted with your knees. Can't I go small and go home? The wilderness is a disturbing place to do mini work. Lots of people staring at me as I glue my fingers together in the McDonalds. Lovely story, even greater result. Cheers!
I'll start by saying this is absolutely INCREDIBLE looking, you really nailed the tone of the story you set prior. The only thing I think that could add a lot to this piece is the sheer weight of the dreadnaught. I imagine this machine to be freakishly heavy and with every step the earth, mud and brick breaks underneath it. The models seems to kinda just "float" on the rocks below, If you were to depress the feet into the ground I think it would add just a tad extra to an already astonishing work of art.
I very liked this video. The approach is not surprising, but the tone, the clear expression of feelings brings a guidance that is very entertaining and made me consider more accurately your point of view. Also, your skills have greatly improved during the time you make videos, and now is top quality. Thank you for sharing !
This is another of your videos, where the goals laid out/discussed in the video and the final scene mesh perfectly. A perfect combination of scales and different "worlds".
Wait, how does this channel only have 63k subscribers?!? I subbed as soon as I saw the care and effort put into just the backstory portion of the video. You guys rock!
This is one of the most inspired jobs you have ever done !! It's truly epic in composition, execution and overall orchestration of the scene. The colour balance bears a remarkable resemblance to a Vermeer painting I think...
Amazing result Alex. Love the way all that ties in so well together. Your comment about treating a diorama as a single paintjob is obvious in hindsight, but I never thought of it before. Top work
First time I've seen your channel - Upon initially viewing the thumbnail on a large screen, I legitimately thought it was a photo of real people. I was waiting the whole video for the moment you re-made the diorama at true life size with real people and took the photo. Amazing work 👏
I honestly thought when I looked at the thumbnail that someone had made all of this to real life scale compared to the models! This is really impressive!
Once again you have outdone yourself. The props in the intro were amazing, nixie watch, the weird rocketeer helmet. Truly inspiring as always. Last of all the diorama, the story, the composition really does make this the top mini painting channel on TH-cam. Gonna have to ask santa for a 3d printer this year. Brilliant.
Verry cool piece Alex, well done. Loved to see the combination of printing, scale modeling and Warhammer. All that different textures and layers makes is more “real” 🤩

This is so Inspirational I wa.t to make a diorama now.
I may try to recreate yours but with different models.
You knocked it out of the park with this one, crazy how well the Contemptor blends in to the scene.

Truly the most important part of a diorama is the backstory. Taking this to the basing of miniatures is always the correct choice.
A friend sent me a picture of this diorama and I legit thought it was like a photoshoot with real people in costume. Incredible stuff!
Thank you humbly, I appreciate it.
this is really great and gives me some ideas for a redemptor dreadnought kit i'm not gonna bother fielding, nice job
You remind me of the peace that Bob Ross brought. I like your quiet tone, your explanation of your own quirks, your techniques. It's relaxing.
I love the human moments of fantasy and sifi, and I feel like this diorama embodies it well.
A 52 minis t shirt with "go small or go home" on it is a merch opportunity that you shouldn't pass by
