Thanks Jim. We used a GoPro camera here. The first attempt was with a regular digital camera that I used. If you have 8:10 mimutes to spare...check it out on my "whistlewing" channel. Shows what it is like skiing non stop top to bottom. Thanks for viewing.
Hi Plowingzero. There are also a lot of great places in Europe to go skiing. I find that wherever you ski, it is always the blue ski, beautiful sunshine and fresh snow that makes it most enjoyable. Happy skiing!
this year will be my 6th year going and i fully agree that it is the best place in the world... i have only been to Big White as well but i love Whistler and every year it gets better and better
It just shows that Whistler is considered as a very small ski resort acoording to European standards. Killington, Vail, Heavenly, Steamboat, Squaw Valley and Park City Mountain Resort could all fit inside the space covered by Les Trois Vallees with almost 10,000 acres left over. So, you can also throw in Jackson Hole, Taos, Sun Valley, Keystone, Crested Butte, Alta, Solitude, Cranmore, and Stowe and Les Trois Vallees would still has room left over.
The number of skiers per hour does not account for statistics that rate ski resorts. If that was the case, then Tokyo, Japan would be rated as a more popular city to live in than Toronto, Canada! But thanks for your comment.
My Preference is Whistler over Blackcomb mountain, but that is my opinion. There are trail to suit everyone and every level of expertise. And when the sky is blue and the sun is shining, it's the best !
Whistler is a great place to ski... that being said it's not comparable to European Ski Resorts like Zermatt/Cervinia, Val d'Isére, Ski Arlberg región in Austria (Lech, Zürs & St. Anton), Monte Rosa area in Italy & Jungfrau Region in Berner Oberland in Switzerland just to name a few... many more I could have mentioned like Chamonix & Verbier.
TNCMAD Yes, I find that all ski resorts have different feelings from one skier to another. It's all a matter of personal preference. That is why there is a formula for rating all ski resorts by ski magazines.
whistlewing Yah i agree, Moreover, there are a lot of criteres whom importance can vary from one person to another ( life cost in the resort, price of the pass, weather, the type of runs [such as a resort with hard runs or some with medium-hard runs alterning with easy ones], the quality of snow, the place itself [ i'd barely enjoy myself skiing in a resort built only of concrete, or without forests], temperature and there are a dozen of ones ! ). But there are ski resorts that are often in the Top 10 though it can vary from #4 to #9 but still in top 10 such as Whistler.
TNCMAD Yes you are right on that. Because to some skiers, the way the resort is set up for families with young kids, that issue becomes the prime criteria in rating. I guess it's a matter of "to each his own"! But if you look at Whistler as being the 2 mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb, my preference is Whistler. But that's my choice, and there are others that prefer Blackcomb! Have a good ski year.
whistlewing I've been in Whitsler, i'll come to Aspen, ( both of them in summer unfortunately ) and i prefer Blackcomb, it is more quiet so it is my opinion though whistler is very pretty but there are two much people. After all, i've been there in summer so in winter, i could have chosen Whistler. Wish i could practice my skiing in Whistler, Lake Louise, Aspen, Beaver Creek. I've down most of the best resorts of the Alps so.... now planning to do the Rockies !
TNCMAD Looks like you get around. As far as too many people on Whistler Mountain, I have skied on it several times in the beginning of April, and never have I found it to be too busy with waiting in line. But I guess timing is always critical.
Number one in North America maybe but dwarfed by almost all European ski resorts. One example : skiers/hour : Wisthler : 34,000 3Vallées (France) : 259,000 ....
Always more snow and better conditions at Whistler . Remember it's not the size that makes it great as much as the quality of the winter setting. www.whistlerblackcomb.com/mountain-info/snow-report?FY17_SNOWFLASH_AM_SNOWFLASH-SUBSCRIBERS&spMailingID=28162668&spUserID=ODE2MDE5ODM1OTAS1&spJobID=1001192214&spReportId=MTAwMTE5MjIxNAS2#mountain-cams
how is that by any means fun skiing, u did nothing to showcase any of whistlers amazing terrain. you skied on a flat groomed run not even showing your skis

+thomas murff Whistler has over 200 runs, so it's very hard to video everything. Just go to Whistler's link and check out their gallery photos and video's if you want to see more of what they have. The Go Pro was mounted on my friends helmet and showing skis in the video is not all that important. Anyways, Have a good ski winter.
one persons fun skiing is another persons boring skiing. You can't say somebody didn't have fun because you aren't them. You may enjoy steeper off run skiing, this guy obviously doesn't. Doesn't mean he can't enjoy it
Excellent ! It gives us non skiers a chance to see what skiing is all about. Great music mix as well. A second watch is necessary !

It's all in the preference. I like Whistler mountain more than Blackcomb, although the latter has a better glacier area that is more challenging.
whistlewing HAHA Yah but 7th Heaven on Blackcomb is hard to beat and then there is Dave Murray!! AHHH JUST SO AWESOME EITHER WAY!!
Elia Burbidge Elia, you are so right. There isn't a bad run anywhere at WB Resort.
It may be smaller but for family skiing holidays I found Sun Peaks magical .
Most ski resorts now cater to the family scene so that there is something to satisfy everyone. Got to get them interested while they are young!

Still the best season of all four. Thanks for viewing.

From the look of your profile pic you play Lacrosse, so I’d shut the fuck up commenting on anything
