  • In the light of Squid Game’s global success, many have paid close attention to the appearances of two players who were migrant workers from Pakistan living in Korea. According to recent studies, there are more than 392,000 undocumented foreign workers in Korea whose struggles and realities of increasing debt, exploitation at work, and harsh living conditions are similar to what is depicted on the show. Today, we sat down with Christian Lagahit, a Filipino actor who appeared as Player #276 on Squid Game to hear more about the meaning behind the representation of his character, his personal journey of getting into the Korean entertainment industry and what his experience was like on the set of Squid Game.
Special thanks to Christian for sharing his story.

      1. In Korea, the last bus of town buses cannot be full. If so, the probability is less than 0.0001%.
      2. What are the chances of breaking his glasses by throwing cabbage in a bus full of people?
      3. Do you think a woman in her late 50s would dare to physically assault a foreign male in his 30s in the middle of the night? What's the probability?
      4. Korean ajummahs keep food preciously. Why would she throw expensive cabbage at a random guy in a bus?
      5. The town bus was full, but how could none of the Koreans film it and upload it on the internet? What is the probability?
      6. If his story was true, it is a dynamite scoop. Why didn't it appear in any news?
      7. There is CCTV on the village bus, and if you report it to the police, you can see the scene as many times as you want. So why didn't he ask for the video? Why does he want us to believe that without actual videos?
      8. According to him, the bus was full of people, and no one reported it to the police or stopped it, but someone interpreted the woman's word in English saying, "She wants you to get out of here"? hahaha Even the cheapest and cringest kdrama will be better than that. It was awesome to get this insight about the director's instructions, his and Anupam Tripathi's characters stick out in the entire cast as foreigners so I was really curious about why Player 276 ended up in the Squid Game but it was never directly shown! The hand signs and silent nature of the character do make more sense now knowing that he's supposed to not have a particularly good grasp of the Korean language. Though the role may have had no speaking lines, I'm happy it seems he had a blast making the most of his time on set!

Sadly every country has racism , that lady was just another person who externalizes their fear as racism and prejudice . Because of the segregation of cultures, countries and religions : Many humans are too dumb to recognize that we all evolved from the same source , and that goes double for people who believe in creationism.
Yesterday I was listening to that stream of white American people talking , where someone asked ' Where do white people come from' and the best answer they could come up was 'I don't know, outer space maybe' , and these people are supposed to be woke. Science shows that origin of humans is either in India or Africa and some humans migrated from there towards the poles , evolving and discarding different physical traits based on the environment they've adapted to. So imagine my surprise, to find that these streaming people , some of them allegedly having academic titles , fail to recognize this simple scientific truth : That we are all one race called Human and should treat each other better regardless of where we come from..

You're so naive to believe everything this pseudo-media a.k.a Asian Boss produces. Koreans don't buy the Filipino's anecdote.
      1. In Korea, the last bus of town buses cannot be full. If so, the probability is less than 0.0001%.
      2. What are the chances of breaking glasses by throwing cabbage in a bus full of people? Is this a fantasy martial arts movie? lol
      3. Do you think a woman in her late 50s would bother to physically assault a foreign male in his 30s in the middle of the night?
EPS (Employment Permit System) workers in Korea have( E - 9 ) visa that works in small to medium enterprises. Jobs that most Koreans avoids because of its nature of work, called the 3D jobs. Dirty, Difficult, Dangerous. The 4th "D" would be Deadly. And also, it's the field of work where most worker's rights are abused.

Sorry.
Asian Boss and this Filipino guy are not good at writing a script.

My pain of discrimination in korea is truly unforgettable because 4 years ago an old man spat on me while i was in gyeonggi-do and im just peacefully walking around that time. then the vendors refused to sell odenggguk (fishcake) to me because i wasn't korean! Then i wasn't able to enter a club because Im a foreigner.... but i saw some caucasian travelers carrying cameras and a man was even swearing so loudly "fu__ing let me in dont you know who i am?! IM DAVID FUC_ING*****" and multiple people escorted him in (ig he's either high or drunk) I dont even look like a homeless person or even dressed like a thief (i was wearing a dress) but cmon im behaving well and i dont think southeast asian ppl should deserve this kind of treatment. (And if i see some people saying i shouldve done this and that- man i dont speak korean fluently and i tried going to the police and they did nothing to the man who spat on me its so sad.)

I was just browsing comments and then I bumped into comments which seems like doubting Chris' statement about his experienced with that ajumma when he rode in a bus a long time ago.
Do you guys think he was just making it up to get attention? He is not dumb and stupid enough to lie in front of everyone especially on social media platform when he knew the consequences. He is a smart person and you know that by the way he talk with wisdom. We should just accept the fact and reality that there are some people out there (wherever you go in the world, not just in South Korea) who display rude behavior and racism. And by the looks of it, he was NOT generalizing all Koreans who behave just like what ajumma did. Remember, he was asked by the interviewer if there was any or he had experienced racial discrimination...
What Chris' have said was on point, honest and no need to sugar-coat things just because he is living in South Korea. He was brave enough to talk about it openly for others to listen into it. He was trying to wake us up from being lulled. Chris' just spoke his mind, based on what he sees, observed and experienced.
It's not his/our problem if SOME of you are onion-skinned and cannot take the truth and reality.
