    Hi there Suayres, thanks for the comment. Once cured, our resin has becomes an inert synthetic mass that will last for many decades. Your artwork will outlive us all ! -)

    Ya I also find that the more resin you use, the happier you are with the results. Gets pricey, but definitely worth it in the end to be generous with your pour.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Michael, thanks for the shout from across the pond !...when the two parts are mixed the resin is self-levelling and free-flowing... so you can paint or brush it on without the need for any solvent to thin it down....

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Kristal, thanks for the comment...the artist used an electric heat gun but you can use either a normal hairdryer ( on slow speed setting ) or a butane blowtorch ( recommended ). Aram

    Hi Austyn, thanks for the question.
    Yes you can use a hairdryer as long as you keep the fan setting on slow so you dont ripple the resin surface.
    The heat setting should be on maximum to expand the air inside the bubbles causing them to pop. I hope this info helps.

    Hi Yahaira, yes for sure, this clear epoxy is commonly used in your application.
    Quite often customers brush a thin layer of resin over the flower to stiffen and seal the petals before adding a thicker layer to embed or encapsulate them in jewellery / paperweight uses.

    Hi Chris, the artists in the video paints on wood and mdf board, but most of our customers work on canvas. Yes, the resin is designed to be poured on canvas to give a smooth, glossy finish to your artwork. You can see more photos and info, as well as order online from our website : Eli-Chem Resins

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Edyta, thanks for the message. Yes you can apply a thin coat to the edges by brush to achieve a drip-free finish. The brush coating will be thin enough to prevent streaks and running of the resin. All sizes and kit prices can be seen here on our website. Just go to our website ( the link is contained at the end of the video ), then "Products", then " General Purpose Clear Epoxy Resin ".
    You can order online for worldwide shipping and delivery within a maximum of 3-4 days. Thanks, Aram

    No problem Jeff...thanks for your comment !...

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Dave, thanks for the feedback. I had a look at the at the resin they offer, it is not possible to say if it is the same as ours since they do not disclose a technical datasheet.
    In addition, they are not a resin manufacturer, they seem to be a wholesale/retail outlet, whereas we are a resin formulator, blender and producer.
    Our material is a UV stable, two-component epoxy Hybrid.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi John, most customers line the floor with plastic sheeting, then leave the resin drops to dry and recover them for use in different artwork e.g 3D collage pieces etc.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Tracy, thanks for the enquiry.
    Your area is approx. 1.1 sq.m. To coat your painting 2-3mm thick will require approx. 1.5 litres of resin.
    If you want to look for the resin in art supply stores ( difficult to find ! ) then you should be asking for a low viscosity, UV stabilised, Polymer hybrid ( epoxy ).
    Alternatively you can order online from our site ( depending on your location ).

    Hi Anne, thanks for your message. Yes the epoxy will adhere to glass ( as long as it is clean and perfectly dry ). Once cured the material is 100% transparent and optically clear. Would you still want to tint it ?...if so we have a full range of solid colour and translucent colour pigments...or our exciting new Eli-Glow Luminescent Pigments...all details and prices are available on the Eli-Chem Resins website !

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The epoxy will bond well to metallic surfaces so you wont have a problem applying it to the outside of the cylinders..the preferred application method is to pour a small amount then spread by brush...keep rotating the cylinder in stages and repeat. I hope this helps !

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes this resin is suitable for covering posters on a table-top. No it would not smear or damage your print as long as the ink is fully dry before you add the resin.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi there Shimacandy,
    Thanks for the message.
    Yes, you can apply the resin onto canvas, the paintings you see in the video clip are also done on canvas.
    Regards,
    Aram ( Eli-Chem Resins )

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi PureHeart, the environment where that artist works is dust-proofed, so any specks you see are pinhole air bubbles that can easily be removed by passing warm air over the surface.
    If any specks of dust do land in the artwork coating, they should be manually removed before resin gellation, any dimples left behind can be back-filled with a small quantity of mixed resin afterwards.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Simon,
    Thanks, yes it is a U.K supplied material.
    We supply the resin, Eli-Chem Resins Ltd, based in Cranleigh, Surrey.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Julie, yes you can apply it on to the fabric, but you should take it off the wall first and lay it horizontally. The resin will stop dripping in approx. 4 hrs after mixing.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes it sets hard like plastic after approx. 8-10 hours and is fully resistant to fresh water and salt water immersion.
    It is ideal for lures as it can be cast optically clear, as well as pigmented with solid or translucent colours.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi there Terramar, thanks for the message. The resin is UV stabilised, therefore the process of fading and discolouring ( UV degradation ) is slowed down, but ultimately over a number of years all clear resins left outside will discolour.

    Hi Tadeyishu, Yes you can use the resin on fabric.
    I am not sure on the reaction with dyes will be, this will depend on what substance the dye is made of.
    Individual tests are recommended.

    The yellow tint you get with their polyesters is due to there being no UV blocker formulated into the polyol ( resin part ), it has nothing to do with the peroxide catalyst. The 1% catalyst ratio is on the low side. We also supply glass-clear polyester resins but never recommend less than 2-3% ratio.
    You could try an over-coat of our General Purpose Clear Epoxy which will offer a solid surface finish but the polyester would still stay uncured below....worth a try for a quick-fix though.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jeff, thanks for the message. For a 1sq.m painting you will need 0.5kg ( 500g ) of our clear resin.
    This is based on 1 poured layer left to self-level under gravity.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    For sure....we do small tester kits which are an inexpensive and ideal way to do trials.
    You will find all info on the Eli-Chem Resins website, under "Products" then "General Purpose Clear Epoxy Resin".

    Hi Lorna, thanks for the message. Let me explain our carriage charges.
    Our resins cannot be sent through the postal service because they are chemical liquids. As a result we only use a Hazchem-approved courier service, which is FedEx.
    We charge customers what we pay to FedEx for their excellent service.
    it is prompt, trace-able, reliable and very rarely do we experience damages or spillages.
    For this peace of mind we are prepared to pay more to get our products to the end-user in the condition and time-frame they expect and deserve.
    Regards,
    Aram Friedrich ( Managing Director ).

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well actually I dont waste anything !!... for two reasons :
    1) Its not me doing the pouring, its one of our artist customers, and
    2) He purposely creates the dripping effect down the side and "teardrop" appearance at the bottom because that is what sets him apart from other artists and his clients love it.
    The spilt resin is collected on plastic sheets on the floor, then once cured the shards are used to create other pieces of art...therefore no resin is wasted, it's all used !.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Am on your FB page now..looks awesome !.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi there,
    Yes you can cover them safely without stretching the canvas substrate.
    The resin is unfilled and therefore has a density of 1.05 g/cm3, this means that the sealing layer will be too light to place the canvas under any mechanical load.
    Regards,
    Eli-Chem

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The only air bubbles are created from hand-mixing, and are easily removed by passing warm air over the resin to leave the surface smooth and glassy.
    Currently we don't have a U.S distributor but are shipping direct from the U.K to artists and users over there.

    types of tape borders... can release sprays or even spray soap or rub wax on edges of things ... make the resin not adhere. I guess i would like to make huge resin shapes... lay on tinfoil or plastic lids and make a border with an old garden hose. then when dry. lift up the resin shape and use it in my art. crazy to follow this.. but hey im an artist. thankyou

    Hi there, you will need the resin and hardener as it is a two-component system.
    The resin is perfectly transparent when mixed with the hardener, the purplish tint you see in the resin is refraction of light through the UV-resistant filler.
    Yes, you can pain tit on by brush or roller.
    The resin needs to cure completely ( at least 2 days ) before bringing the fish into contact with it.
    For any other questions, please email me : aram@elichem.co.uk

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't be concerned...the artist has an ingenious method of collecting the spilt resin which has mixed with paint and hardened into thin resin shards.
    He recovers the multicoloured shards and mounts them as a stunning 3D sunburst...nothing goes to waste !.
    I can email you photos of the resin shard artwork if you like.

    Yes, a butane gas torch is better. The hot air gun will expel air too strongly and can disturb the resin surface.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jake, thanks for the comments...yes it will bond to concrete.
    Epoxy formulations have excellent bond-strength to rigid substrates like concrete, metals, glass etc.

  • @007rastas
    @007rastas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Sue, thanks for the message.
    As you have not used our resin it is difficult to diagnose the issue you are having with another supplier's material.
    The stickiness should not last this long, either the mix ratio is incorrect, or your mixing time was too short. Did they give you an unaccelerated resin combination ? that requires post-curing under heat.
    You should speak to the supplier'stechnical dept. to resolve the problem with you. I look forward to getting you converted to our resins !.

    Hello Aram, Such an exciting product - I'm so eager to experiment. Since someone asked about putting it on the wall of a fish tank, am I correct to presume it can be used and will adhere well to a sheet of glass. I have in mind doing something which takes advantage of the transparency - or, hopefully, translucency, if I can find the proper tinting agents. Do you have suggestions for tinting? Thanks
