While i do not dispute that homelessness has increased, the method of measuring homelessness is so wrong. If you take out migrants the numbers reduce by 411,000 and if you exclude people in temporary accomodation you end up wiith 50,000 sleeping rough in a country with a population of around 80 million. Source RT 10/11/2023.
Why should any German pay even one euro for migrant housing?
There is an industry around homelessness now in all European countries. This industry can only exist if the problem is seen to be worse year by year! The industry is not there to solve the problem because it never does! The industry is there to get rich by govt subsidy. Redefining homelessness to include migrants and people in temporary accomodation is just a way of exaggerating the problem. The same scam system is carried out currently in the race industry, domestic violence and gender industries.
The problem with this scam is that more and more people start to ignore the problem and this, sadly, genuine cases of race discrimation, domestic violence and homelessness go unresolved.

Why are they not reusing the military bases that have closed? I know there was talk of them becoming refugee camps, but I haven't seen a followup.

This is actually hard to compare, since Germany distinguishes between homeless and shelter-less people. Wiki says that from the 263,300 homeless people in Germany are 37,000 living on the streets or in temporary accommodation. While in the UK In 2023, the number of homeless people in England hit record levels, with 104,510 people in England in temporary accommodation.

And that number is a stat lie. Thanks to mass migration, ukrianes and laws that force to give apartments to them over a million are now homeless in germany. And most are germans because all the livingspace is taken for refugees by the state.
