What a disaster for the Australians, Asian competition is growing and they’ve regressed in the youth categories while other nations have clearly improved. Even the senior national team youngsters got humiliated by Canada a little while ago. For a nation who think it’s on the same trajectory like the US, Europe and Japan this is a wake up call. They can’t compete with those teams, and losing to China, Thailand (no disrespect) is terrible.
Was a good effort? Australia was totally outplayed in all 3 games. Smashed in the first two, and embarrassed against a Thai team. Something definitely wrong with Australian football development. Parents here spend thousands every year for specialist academy training, and this is the best we can develop. The Thai girls have no such infrastructure and training that Aussie girls have. Lucky they did not play North Korea. They would have been beaten by 10 goals. North Korean girls and Japanese girls played like professionals.
