Thanks Brandon, very helpful video, especially because of the new 2023 tax break for Model Y's. We just got updated delivery window to December, 2022 from a Jan-Mar 2023 and would like to get the tax break and take delivery after January 1 as I'm sure everyone ordering Model Y's want to delay until after that date. No one has a good "how to" video talking about this yet.
Cool! I ordered mine in early January of 2023 and it says delivery Jan-Feb but I figured it would be later than that. According to this hopefully it's coming in March!😋
Nice video, I assume it's similar in the UK. I ordered back in July, missed September, although I was told it would deliver in Sept, but now gone back to December - just cannot wait!!
Excellent video. I just got my Model S VIN with delivery expected between 9/13 and 9/17. Ive decided to finance through tesla for now. How do you apply? I dont see any links to an application in the tesla app. Also, are the decisions pretty quick for those with excellent credit? Thanks.
Congrats on your VIN! Check with your sales rep (if you have one), you should be able to apply through your MyTesla.com account. Login through the Tesla website to check. Decisions are usually immediate for excellent credit.
Ordered 7/24 and stilllll waiting for my Black/Black MODEL Y 7 seats no tow no fsd. My current EDD is Jan 5 to Feb 8. This is nuts and I’m hoping for some EOQ love here in the Bay Area. I’m literally 15 mins from Fremont and shocked it’s going on five months
Thanks for uploading this video! Really helpful. I ordered my M3 long range on feb 19 2022 and it said may 2022. Then changed to april 28-may 26. Hoping for it to come soon. So excited
Amazing video Brandon! I ordered a Model S plaid the middle of May according to the website delivery was Jun-Aug now It's a July 20th - Aug 24th window. what are the chances of me taking delivery in July? Thanks
Hi Thank you for the video on TH-cam “Pre delivery” I came across and informative! I have placed my Tesla model Y performance Blue with white interior in March 4, 2022 and my EDD is March 22-March 31. Wow really excited! However, I haven’t received yet any VIN, and really afraid that they might change it..according to your information I’m exactly at March! I received a message from Tesla 2 days ago “ Tesla Update…Trade in your car etc”…but this is crazy I’m none stop checking the app for updates lol…please advise. Lol Thank you! :)
Thanks Brandon. This video is extremely informative and useful. I have a delivery window scheduled for February- March, therefore I should expect to receive my vehicle in March correct?
Thank you for this video! We ordered our Model 3 SR+ on August 14, 2021 and as of last night (12-27-21) the estimated delivery dates were 1-21-22 to 2-18-22. This morning I received the VIN# followed by a text to "choose" a delivery date which included just one option of 12-30-21. We are out of town and can't take delivery until 1-3-22 so we had to decline the delivery. They did offer to drop the car off at a friend's house or in our driveway but I declined those options. So now we are back in line for the first Model 3 SR+ with our configuration which I was told could be in a week, two weeks, two months, etc. So now we wait again. A bit frustrating but I know it will be worth the wait.
I ordered sr+ as well on sept 4th and am still waiting for a vin, any update if you received one yet so I can try to figure an eta on when I might be getting mine?
@@richi9641 The new estimated delivery date is 1-28-22 to 2-25-22 but our local Tesla Service Center thought it would probably be within 2-3 weeks from when we declined the first VIN#, which was on December 30, 2021. I'm in S. CA (Palm Springs) and unless we have a trade-in, which we don't, we only have the option of an at home delivery. By the way, I bought a mess of accessories for our M3 to pass the time, which has put me in the dog house more than once but it's been fun.
Just updating our experience with declining the first VIN#. Since we declined the first # in the last couple days of December 2021 we have received numerous estimates for our delivery. In the month of February alone (and today is Feb 18th) we have received 5 estimates... 2-3 to 2-25, 2-9 to 2-23, 2-12 to 2-25, 2-15 to 2-25, and now 2-18- to 3-18. I stopped by our local service center yesterday to make sure there wasn't a problem and they confirmed there wasn't and notated our file that we were ready to take delivery. I'm not sure why the dates keep changing, especially since many of the changes were for the same time period of the first February estimate of 2-3 to 2-25. Hopefully, Tesla will be able to address the estimates to provide a more stable delivery time frame once gigafactory Texas is up and running at full steam. We're frustrated but still very excited to get our Model 3. (Editing to add as of 2-19 and the 6th month of February estimated delivery time frame is now 3-18 to 3-31. Looks like we'll be taking delivery in the last part of the 1st quarter of 2022 which corresponds with what you have been saying, Brandon.)
Again, good tips and thanks. Here's a special case: I'm currently in CA (COVID delay) but live in CO and want to take delivery there. I get a much lower sales tax (about $800 savings) and a $2,500 tax rebate (or maybe it's a credit). After much research, it looks like there's no way to take delivery in CA, pay CO sales tax and drive it to CO for registration. CA DMV offers a One Trip Permit (OTP) but you have to pay CA sales tax then drive it within 30 days to register in CO and CA has no tax rebates or credits. I'll talk to the sales agent once I get a VIN and delivery date but any tips you may have would be much appreciated. Cheers.
Thank you!!! Got my Tesla y, sensory mode is not working on my iPhone app, I see people can use it and see what’s going on around Teslas, but I simply can’t. Friend of mine who took delivery few weeks ago on his model 3 can’t pull it up also. Please let me know if you have suggestions, or maybe you can make nice video so people like us will search for it and fix it.
@@BrandonDriver thank you for quick reply!!! Everything activated sentry mode in app and in the car, plus I have free premium connectivity till Dec,2022. Is there anything else i am missing? Please help. I have awd long range model Y. Got it brand new. Watched all your videos, trying to upgrade. Also I want to know how many PSI I should keep in each 19”, right now they are really tough around 4500PSI any suggestions? Maybe you can give me your number and we can text. I got another deposit for 2nd Tesla y, coming in July. Love it.
This video is extremely useful. I have a delivery window scheduled for May22 (The Netherlands),. Order my Model3LR in 1th week January, still no EDD or VIN... what do you think Brandon?
Thank you for watching! International orders are a little trickier to estimate for deliveries, but I would guess that May or June are your likeliest pickup times to make the order completed in Q2.
My wife us scheduled to take delivery of her model Y with black interior today. We originally wanted white interior but could not find one in existing inventory to have delivered before March 31st to meet the tax credit deadline. The same Delivery Center has one exactly like we wanted but we already signed the paperwork. Any idea if they will let us change to a different car after singing all the paperwork but before accepting delivery?
Thanks for this Video Brandon, I’m from Chicago My Delivery was originally in June / now it’s July What do you think 🤔. It would get here ? Just wondering
Thank you!!! I ordered my M3 in mid-March and it was supposed to arrive in May, 3 days later when I enter the app it says that it arrives from August-September. when should I except to receive my car?
Had a similar situation was texted to schedule my delivery day 3 months early couldn't make it so they put my order on hold 🤨 didn't know what ment at the time thought it ment they were holding the car even asked about coming to pick it up few days later than the window they provide and got no responses to my text. Once I realized what the hold actually ment(few days later)I took it off hold and now sitting on a Jan-Feb estimated delivery date. Really dont like this system so far and has been my least favorable car buying experience mainly due to lack of communication on their part(texting me statements and saying reply if u need assistance and never responding to my replies or questions).
When I ordered a M3P on June 16th, the website edd said jun-Aug but my actual EDD has been showing Aug-Sep for 2 weeks now. I guess I'm a little confused how my edd is later than the edge of the website edd.
If you defer your car after you get the vin, do they hold that same car with that same vin for you to pick up at a later date or do they give that car with that vin to someone else then build you a new car with a new vin when you were ready for delivery?
They’ll give your VIN to the next available person (of which there are many these days), and build out another VIN if they let you keep your spot in the order queue!
@@BrandonDriver yeah, contacted Tesla, the stated they no longer allow customers to defer their cars, only in specific cases, which they wouldn't elaborate on... I'd hate to lose my deposit and have to start all over again so I'll just wait 2 months or so then place my order.
Is there any truth to higher trims getting delivered sooner because they have less demand? A model 3 standard or long range for example would take longer to come in than a performance
Howdy Brandon! We ordered a model 3 and a waiting excitedly! When ordering ( April 10th, 2022) I didn’t add the mobile charger to order (face palm) is there anyway to add it so I have one on delivery? They are sold out and there is no option in app:) thanks! Delivery Oct-dec currently!
Howdy! Congrats on your order! Keep checking back for when they’re back in stock on the site, or reach out to your closest sales team and check for them to be back in stock. I imagine they’ll be back soon.
@Brandon Driver My MYLR date has changed for the 3rd time to Nov 27-Jan 22. I am thinking they may try to get it to me in December but I heard it is not good to get one the last quarter of the year as they rush and more things can happen. Also, I am hoping I can get one from Austin as I am in the NY region.. Do you think December as well or January 2023 next year?
Hi Brandon, thanks for the video.. Can we change the ownership fo the car before the delivery? I am running with some financial trouble and may not be in a shape to buy a tesla that I booked couple of months ago.. My delivery is scheduled in the month of June..
Ordered my Model 3 Long Range on 3/10/2022 originally said May now I’m seeing June - July. Realistically with craze of EV’s what do you think is a likely time. Also my rep said he would snag me one before May but idk if that’s even possible now with this change.
Thank you , I’m picking up my M3 SR+ 29 March. Hope the build quality and paint work is acceptable. I really can not understand why qualified Tesla staff aren’t responsible for checking the cars before handing them over to the customer. Surely it would greatly improve the customer service, facilitate a reporting of common faults back to the factory and enhance Teslas reputation overnight. Why are customers responsible for checking their new £50k car.? I’ve never had to check my new BMW, Toyota, MB, VW, or Ford, some of which were half the price of a Tesla. Any comments welcome
Tesla does have a quality team just like other carmakers, but sometimes mistakes slip through, just like other carmakers. There has been lots of negative media towards Tesla specifically, but they’re not special for being not perfect. Delivery teams are good at catching stuff too and rectifying it.
@@BrandonDriver Thank you for your speedy and comforting reply. I’m sure my collection will be stress free. I live 50 miles from the nearest Tesla outlet, which, in the UK, is a long way, when we have a choice of every other car dealership within 5 miles. FYI I ordered the car Feb 28, first indication August. Paid deposit, advised May/ June. March 3 text saying car on its way, last week, book your collection slot March 29 or 30. I upgraded to Midnight Silver and needed a tow hitch for my bike rack. Can’t beat the delivery speed , or, just very lucky my spec was rolling off the line. RHD, Shanghai, delivery to UK . 🇬🇧
Great video Brandon! Puts everything into perspective and helps me stay patient lol. I ordered a M3SR 2/19/2022. Got initial estimate of October then it was moved up to July. Checked last week it got moved up to March. Checked yesterday is got pushed to July-September. Should I expect a late March/earl April deliver or wait for end of Q2?
I ordered my model 3 performance on February 26 and when I ordered it the Edd said EDD:march and it only updated once from may 23 - june 20 and now April 17 - May 15 and it hasnt updated since march 3 also I didn't get a text message from anyone idk if that's a bad thing or I have to wait till I get my car to get a text from them.
Great video! I was supposed to take delivery on 12/21 but on 12/20 I got a call from Tesla saying that they found a chip in the windshield during final inspection and will delay delivery to 12/22. I got a call late in the afternoon saying that the new windshield had not arrived and that they will be holding the car over the weekend as a "pre-caution." Financing is done, checks are cashed. I teased about throwing in some all-weather floor mats and they weren't amused (no response). If they're not done by 12/28, I won't be able to take possession until 1/2. Can they force me to take possesion or is it pretty much a done deal because they've pretty much "cashed my check." I don't want to lose the car because I can't take possession immediately after they complete the repair.
Shoot me an email if you’d like to dive deeper, but my initial thought is that it sounds like they’re doing their best to have it in your hands before the year is over. Sometimes unfortunate surprises happen, it’s good they caught it and are rectifying before delivery.
@@BrandonDriver What are the consequences, if any, when I ask to delay delivery until 1/2? It's all paid for, checks are cashed. I also have a trade in with a 1/6 expiration.
I ordered my model 3 LR in July my delivery date is Nov To Feb I have not do e yhe finance yet should I go ahead with this will it make it faster or just wait till I get a better time frame for delivery
If the delivery driver dumps it at your house and leaves in 30 seconds- and you find manufacturing faults later like panel gaps or paint chips etc. - what happens? Will they accept these issues later and come and fix it or if you don’t call it out upfront they won’t fix it? Thanks!
Thanks for the info. Us having to put our MYP and model 3 long range on hold in hopes for ev tax credit. Do you know when we push the "im ready" do we go way back in line or still considered priority over new orders
I’m not sure how they prioritize orders now, but if you have your account details complete I would assume that they’ll bump you into the queue as fully ready to receive your car. If you have a salesperson to stay in contact with, it also helps to show that you’re at the ready with no delays once a car is available.
It sure could be April, but I have a hunch you may get a surprise message in March saying it’s ready. Shoot me an email if you’d like a free delivery checklist! Hello@electricautosquad.com
Hi Brandon! Your video was very helpful. I’m still waiting for my VIN # and my EDD now says Feb. 8-Mar 8, but I ordered it on Sept. 1st and it said Dec. 19-31, so just wanted to see when you think on a guesstimate of when I’ll be receiving my vehicle? This waiting period is nuts.. prior to that the EDD jumped 3-4 different times between Jan-April.
Hi Brandon, I have a delivery date of Dec 30-31st crazy since I’ll be out of town and Tesla saying that I’d have to cancel my delivery!!!! Don’t know what to do
My email is in the video description if you’d like deeper help, but I’d recommend reaching out to. Tesla rep and talking to a person on the phone, explaining your situation, asking for an alternative solution.
@@gtfreak32 I’m sorry to say you’re in the low priority queue. I would call in and ask the nearest sales center to assign a salesperson to your order, you’ll have a much more consistent experience.
Hey, I had my delivery scheduled for Nov 5,2022. However, I received an automated txt mssg stating that the vehicle will be slightly delayed in transit and it asked me to pick up another the delivery date a few days out. Before making the change, I spoke to Tesla and was advised that this can happen during transit and the automated system will prompt these messages as the vehicle is moving and affects the delivery date. Is this normal Brandon? This is my ninth month waiting for the car. It is a Y LR 7STR White on Black.
Most Excellent info Brandon! My MSLR is moved up from June to March…. Just as you said! You being a former Tesla “dealer”, I’ve been hearing about cars delivered with a few blemishes. It seems some SC’s take care of them and some say “its within tolerance”. What do you recommend if we pick up a car that has some issues like this? Thanks
Minor issues happen sometimes, make sure you take note of everything. I recommend slowly going around the car with video and documenting it, reporting any issues so that the SC can remedy them.
Am I able to reassign my delivery to someone else multiple times? I was matched with a M3 Long Range on day 1 of updating my order from SR+ to the long range and was hoping to get the car in 3 months time...I was able to reassign it to someone else, but I am afraid I may be matched again in the coming weeks since it is near the end of a quarter. Thanks for your help!
Thanks Brandon, very informative...wish I had seen this earlier! My M3 LR is set for delivery to my home on 12/30...but when the VIN was assigned there was no option for showroom delivery...just home delivery! Since this is our first Tesla, I am now really concerned after your video, even after watching all of their training videos! I now want to change to showroom delivery and have texted, called and emailed my SA but nobody is responding...any advice?
01:07 this exact same situation happened to me. I ordered in late August with an ETA of January. Tesla texted me in mid November and told me I have 3 days to come pick up the car but it wasn’t reasonable for me to drop everything and do that on such short notice. I had a really shitty experience with Tesla’s customer service (I’m assuming it was their corporate level) because they responded with very generic responses, didn’t answer any of my questions, and wouldn’t pick up the phone. Eventually I got an update on my profile saying I have to let them know that I’m ready on or before 31 December.
@@BrandonDriver I went through the store personally, not online, and the staff there were great. Welcoming, knowledgeable, really just wanted to answer your questions and let you enjoy your test drive. I’m still excited to pick up my Model Y in January, just a little worried about how customer service is going to be in the future.
@@richard1493 the salesperson that helped you place your order gets credit for your sale, if you have their contact info they should be super helpful for smoothing things out
Thanks for this Video Brandon, My Delivery was originally November 2021 but got pushed a few times, it was recently had Feb 26 - March 26 but now I see March 9th - 18th but I have not seen a VIN as yet. Does this mean it will most likely not get pushed out again. All my previous delivery windows were a month long, but now it is a 9 day Window.
That’s what I would assume! Sounds like your delivery is stapled in for Q1, mid-March, with potential for a little sooner depending on production. Email me if you’d like a free delivery checklist!
So I ordered MYLR, I was told to proceed with a cash offer because the loans are only good for 60 days. According to my delivery date it’s set for the month of April. Should I apply soon or wait until I get a VIN#? Also, how do I now switch over to a loan instead of all cash on my account? Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching! I offer consulting if you’d like me to review your order, but normally you shouldn’t need to apply for financing until closer to your delivery date. Shoot me an email if you’d like some 1-on-1 time!

I ordered on MY LR 20 inch wheels, hitch, 7 seats, and FSD on 09/03/21. Can I remove FSD and keep my original price? How should I approach removing FSD as I dont want it. I was told you can remove it and it would not affect the price as it is just software. Please respond asap. Thanks.
Hi Brandon, question for you. Is there a way to extend my delivery time? I was told when I made the reservation of my Model 3 that if I wasn't ready when the car was assigned I could put my account on hold until I was ready but now that the car is ready they are saying that if I don't take delivery this month then they are going to cancel my order and forfeit the deposit. Any way I can get around this? Thank you!
Sadly Tesla is pretty strict about their timelines. I’d ask to speak to the store manager responsible at your delivery center and ask if they’re able to work with you. Every now and then they’re able to make exceptions.
Hi Brandon. I ordered a Model 3 Long Range on 2/17/21. Originally the estimate was ‘May’ But the delivery window says June 14 - July 12. A Tesla rep said I should expect it closer to March - April. Thoughts?
Hi Tyler 👋 Of the 3 different estimates you got, I’d lean closest to what the Tesla rep told you. They often get extra info that doesn’t make it to your online order window.
Not sure what to expect from the new battery platform yet, it’s entirely possible that’s what the delays are from. Tesla is being super secretive about it!
I purchased my car in November with a delivery date in June. Not long after i received an update with a new delivery window of between the 26 February and 26 March. Yesterday it changed back to June. Does this mean they are reassessing my delivery date and I might get it by the end of this quarter or there is a backlog of vehicles?
That’s exactly what I’d guess. They’re probably evaluating how many orders they have to process for next quarter and debating how fast the factory workers can pump out cars, and if they have capacity for yours.
Very helpful video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I ordered my Tesla 3 Long Range on Nov. 29. My original EDD was Dec. 15-30th. It changed to Jan. 4-Feb. 1. Do you think this means I should expect March delivery? Or earlier? I know you can’t tell me for sure but am your opinion may help. Thanks!
Hi Wes 👋 I’d estimate that your delivery may still get squeezed in before the year is over, but if not then you may be one of the rare ones that will happen in January. I would guess they’re figuring out if they over-promised for deliveries this month right now.
I ordered a model Y on November 1st. When I originally put the order in, the delivery estimate was June. After about a week, the app showed I had a delivery date from mid march to mid April. When I checked the app a couple days ago, it reset to June. Should I expect it in June now or is there a possibility that I still get it in March?
I’d feel most that June is the likelier date, but keep your eyes on your app for it coming sooner. They often update timelines as production estimates change.
So, I woke up this morning and now my Tesla app says a delivery date of March 22 - April 19. Does this mean there’s a better chance that I will take delivery at the end of the first quarter?
Hello! I recently ordered my M3 Rear Wheel Drive and I accidentally set my payment method to cash (when I was going through pre-delivery tasks) and I wanted to finance it. I can’t change it now. Can I change it before I get the car delivered? Also thanks for the awesome information!
Yes you can switch to financing by contacting your rep or emailing tesla financing. I would however wait until you get a vin before asking them to switch to financing.
"Hi Eilbron, we currently plan to build and deliver your Model Y in December. Please reply DECEMBER if you are ready for delivery this month and we will contact you about scheduling your delivery once your Model Y is built. Please reply DELAY if you cannot take delivery this month and we will reach back out in the new year." I replied December. Did i make the right decision in your honest opinion? Tesla doesn't take short cuts to finish building a car on the last days of the quarter? Thanks
If you want it now, I think you made a fine decision. Even if they “rush” your car, just be double careful to check around it before taking delivery for anything that’s off. Email me for a delivery checklist!
Did you know about these 3 secrets? Do you have any of your own to add?
YES - I do have to add one: More than two weeks after delivery of my Model 3 LR I´m still tying to get a service apointment for an issue with my passenger windows get fixed.

Do you mean live Sentry Mode? Make sure it’s activated in the security settings in the car, and make sure you have premium connectivity!
Does Tesla give you a hard time if I choose to delay my delivery and how many time can I delay it?
Thanks for this Video Brandon, I’m from Chicago
My Delivery was originally in June / now it’s July What do you think 🤔. It would get here ? Just wondering
I hope so, Tesla is getting slammed with orders these days, but your sales associate will be able to give you better updates than your app will.
Is it True M3P models might come sooner ? Ordered first of April and shows June5 to July3 delivery ?
Yep! Lower demand but high profile cars get faster delivery times.
100%. It’s not always simply price, sometimes has to do with seat orientation, like 5-seats Model Y’s being more popular than 7-seats.
Howdy Brandon!
We ordered a model 3 and a waiting excitedly! When ordering ( April 10th, 2022)
I didn’t add the mobile charger to order (face palm) is there anyway to add it so I have one on delivery?
Sorry to get to this comment months later, I would guess September! Did it come yet?
Thank you!!!
Thank you for watching Chuck!
So my delivery shows mid April - mid may I wonder how this is going to play out 🤔.. I ordered Feb 2nd tho so prolly about right
It sure could be April, but I have a hunch you may get a surprise message in March saying it’s ready. Shoot me an email if you’d like a free delivery checklist! Hello@electricautosquad.com
Is it true that you have 72 hours or 100 miles to report defects after delivery? If so, where does it specify?
This policy changes on occasion and sometimes store to store too, you’ll need to talk to your sales rep or delivery rep to get the latest.
Sounds like they’re aiming for Q1 2022 for you. Keep your eyes open, it could somehow still potentially come early this year!
@@BrandonDriver what months are considered Q1 of 2022?
Hi Brandon, I have a delivery date of Dec 30-31st crazy since I’ll be out of town and Tesla saying that I’d have to cancel my delivery!!!! Don’t know what to do
My email is in the video description if you’d like deeper help, but I’d recommend reaching out to. Tesla rep and talking to a person on the phone, explaining your situation, asking for an alternative solution.
At what point do we actually get contacted by a Tesla rep in the whole process?
Did you order through one at the beginning?
@@BrandonDriver no, I went on the site from my phone
How and when do you pay?
Their customer service is poor. Hard to get an SA to respond.
I’m sorry you had a bad experience. Did you order through the website or go in to a store?
What’s the usual wait time between getting a VIN amd being able to schedule delivery/final payment?
Just got my VIN/insurance two days ago
Thank ya!
Where are you located? If you’re next to the factory, maybe the next day! If Florida, maybe 2-3 weeks to send it.
@@BrandonDriver I’m in Colorado, so not too far! Delivery shows as December 24-30 and it would be going to the Tesla showroom nearby.

Great info
Thank you Darrion!
@@BrandonDriver you welcome
Hi Brandon. I ordered a Model 3 Long Range on 2/17/21. Originally the estimate was ‘May’
But the delivery window says June 14 - July 12.
A Tesla rep said I should expect it closer to March - April. Thoughts?
Hi Tyler 👋
Of the 3 different estimates you got, I’d lean closest to what the Tesla rep told you. They often get extra info that doesn’t make it to your online order window.
My delivery estimate went from October back to July. I was hoping that the car would come with the new 4680 battery platform. What are the chances?
Great! Thanks for the response.
@@thekickbackcorner1381 yes, that’s what I would guess from that update. They must be busy’

Yes you can switch to financing by contacting your rep or emailing tesla financing. I would however wait until you get a vin before asking them to switch to financing.
