+igniteram1 that's what I found out when I was learning basics of serving is that self toss rule so i agree but than again I am very new to the sport so I don't know

This video is the best for reverse pendulum. Thanks. People must realize one needs a very flexible body and wrist to execute this serve. Beginners should stay away. The ball tossed toward the server? That's taking advantage of the laxity of the judges.
It's interesting that his ball toss is very short, and also his paddle is nearly vertical. You see a lot of people doing pendulum serves with high tosses, and the paddle facing up.
daniel Gordon exactly, this his own method and style, very interesting how c he developed his unique style with serves, placement of wrist and range of a motion thru fixed elbow and wrist of hand....sidespin, backspin topspin...
Thanks a lot for the video ! Zhang Jike has the most good looking reverse pendulum serve ! (and it looks very effective too)
Thank you!
I have some video which I made about techniques of Zhang Jike: BH Block, BH loop, BH flick. I will post. Please wait. :)
Amazing job of capturing the serve in slow motion! Please do same with mima ito shovel and tomahawk serve in slow motion. You are great editor!

very good.
Started with reverse pendulum actually
What are the properties of the serve? How does the ball behave
Depends. There is 3 variations. Heavy 1) sidespin 2) sidespin underspin 3) empty, no spin

what kind of ball it produce? sidespin?
+AcheLone Yeah mostly sidespin on many of those. A few of them in the video show a variation that has topspin.
+Julian Vickers thx a lot
It's called reverse pendulum and not pendulum
The ball should be tossed straight in the air, but he is tossing towards him, this is against ITTF rules !!

+igniteram1 it's not strictly enforced.. the point of the rule is so that people don't throw the ball into their bat
+igniteram1 It's legal when the ball is tossed within 15 degree, and that's not a very strict rule.
