That was amazing. I loved how you gave the ship a used look, like it has seen a few thousand light years. Also a big fan of room 88. That was such a great story concept.
Thank you! The build took several months and I was pretty exhausted by the time we'd finished filming - I get tired just watching the timelapse now... so many hours spent in that shed...
1:51 AARGH, I've been looking for that toy gun for YEARS! *Please* tell me you know what its called or who manufactured it? Its perfect for a character I have that uses a gun that is both a 9mm pistol and large calibre revolver in one gun.
Which one? The big one I think was just a water pistol with a cardboard shell and a load of random things stuck to it. The right one was a water pistol as well. The twin guns at the top were laser pistols that came with headset receivers so you could play laser tag.
do you have more material about the construction of the set? how did you make the handle? did you program the light with arduino or something else? tks!
Damn, that set is bad ass! I commend you. I would love to have a set like that to shoot in. If you don't mind my asking, how much did a set design like that put you back?
Thanks, Jason. The total set build was somewhere around £300. The most expensive materials were the hardboard for the walls and the plastic grids for the ceiling - the rest was just things we had lying around or picked up from the scrapyard. It's amazing what you can make with some junk and a few bottles of spray-paint!
New subscriber here and could you do my entire house in this theme. The mrs isn’t on board with the idea yet but I’m working on it. Should she say no , maybe just my shed will do . Ahh comprise .
I did the music myself, was trying for an 80s sci fi adventure kinda aesthetic, but I'm not a musician, just enjoy playing around. If the music is uncredited on one of my films, then I did it. Room 88 probably gets the most love for the score, skip to the credits to hear the whole thing
Hey Mike. I'm wondering if I can use a couple seconds from your timelapse as B-Roll in a little video I'm editing. It's a "making of" video for a short film and there's a moment where director is talking about the challenge of building sets in a small space. I'd like to overlay some of this footage. I'd also be super stoked if you had the original clip to email me haha. Sorry if this is not cool. Just want to ask.
Do you have dimensions or blueprints that you'd be willing to share? As a part time carpenter/Woodworker, I'd love to try my hand at this build. Would even pay for them to help support the channel. Great work!
Hi Matthew, sounds interesting! I think I do have some blueprints I could share with you, will dig them out. Are you talking about making a model or a full scale build? Shoot me an email and I'll send you the design layout
@@MikeBoothFilm that would be great! I'm thinking I want to try a full size scale model for my kids. We have a basement unfinished and they love anything space! I don't see an email address on the channel, am i missing it? I went to your PayPal, and nothing there either
@@matthewabeln9161 Wow, sounds great - I'm honoured you've chosen our spaceship to build! Email is in my about section (might only be visible on the website) but send it to macbooth[at]protonmail[dot]com
I did draw up loose plans for it at the time but a lot of it was freebuilt. Many materials were scrounged for free, total cost was probably around £200 for paint, screws, though the ceiling panels took up most of that
This, my friends, is living the fluckin dream!

Thanks Michael, really appreciate your support
Light years is a measure of distance not time😉
@@tj_mcdonald21 it’s the same as if you said your car has seen quite a few miles. Distance can equal a used look.
@ ah, I see what you’re saying. Mb
This was a good idea to promote your film. Settling in to watch it now over morning coffee. Stay creative!
are you kidding me? absolutely amazing
I fully appreciate the time and effort and expense it takes to do this, thank you Mike :)
Thanks, I'm still recovering!
Absolutely fabulous! Well done.

Wow! Great job!
I had to go watch your movie. Top notch!
This is Amazing!
Very impressive !
Awesome!
Awesome! Very cool!
Pretty good, thanks for sharing.
Wow!!! this Is my Dreams 🤩
Nice man
Fantastic work!
Wow. I want a shed like that
With a FTL drive engine, lol.
That's one of my childhood dreams.
Amazing! Liked and subscribed!
Come build me one, haha, that’s incredible!
Super cool
That is amazing 👏 I wanna build a smaller version in my tree lol so it looks like its crash landed
So cool
I love it
No wonder movies are so expensive this was just one set... and look at all the work and detail.

Survivor Shot Revolv
@@MikeBoothFilm THANK YOU!!!! Seriously, I've been trying to find the this piece so I can make a prop out of it for over 7 years.
Glad I could help! What's the prop for? You making a film?
like a mock up from a late 90s sci fi show
Supperb..
Cool

This work is far more deserving of a sped up two minute video with a crappy soundtrack. It demands a mini TED talk!

Like Rick and morty !!! I wanna make one
Low budget but not lacking
Please tell me who did the background music & do they do more?

Who the heck told us that we can’t build movie sets at home?

Hey you got blueprints or is it freebuild? Plus total cost?

where did you get most of the buttons and switches?
Some of them I bought of eBay, others were salvaged from various places
just got my curiosity Up i guess
Did you use MDF for the walls?
The walls were made from 3mm hardboard - easy to cut but produced a lot of dust
Can u come to my house and build one!
I'd rather my house look similar to this but every room
I just wanna rent a barn warehouse and make modular sets for a crew n make a star citizen themed comedy TV show
That tune????? Where do i remember that from somebody help me its driving me nuts not knowing prettty plz with 🍒 on top
It was written for the Hawk short film
I could do this in my townhouse
I don’t think wood would be very good at protecting you from cosmic radiation but ok
Among us in real life be like...
I wish I have a lot money to do this.
Sooooo....we all just want to build a fake spaceship and live in it, right?
Very impressive!
Hi what was used for the main control wheel and the two leavers either side of the centre control wheel? 1:45
What type of paint did you use? Trying to make the walls of my build appear as real “metal” as possible.
