Thank God they won this world series accidentally at the start of a rebuild and had NO IDEA of the caliber roster they built. And now my phillies have both Bryce Harper and Trae Turner. In the playoffs this year, Harper has 5 HRs on a .319 avg and Turner has 11 game post season hitting streak with 3 HRs , a team high 17 hits on a CRAZY .459 batting average and .512 on base percentage. 🔥🔥🔥 i can definitely watch these guys on this phillies team for another 5 years. BTW they are 5 wins away from a world series ring as Philadelphia Phillies.!! Thanks nationals !! 😊

People say baseball is a boring sport and some even say it’s not a sport. Let them say that, they don’t understand a game of intellect with major focus on team work. One weak link, one error, can be the difference between a win or a loss. This is why I love baseball better than any other sport. 0.1% chance of winning to actually winning the World Series. Wow.

I agree, 19 -31 in baseball? That's like being 1- 7 in football and running the table just to be in the wildcard round, the NATIONALS were done, they kept fighting ,they could have easily gave up, they had a ton of injuries, they won the wild card against the best closer in baseball Milwaukee, beat 2 teams with over 100 wins, who were rated to be the best in their respected divisions. Win 5 elimination games, never been done before, hey gotta tip your hat, top 3 stories in my opinion.
They were supposed to be swept by the Astros, no one gave them a shot, great story!
Respect Chicago series but the whole world was rooting for the Cubs, let's face it, they were the lovable losers ironically just like the NATIONALS so people were pulling for the Cubs, it was a great series too, but don't short change the Nats

NOBODY thought they would be Champions but I had FAITH in them. To win it against the Houston Astros was the BEST!!!! I don’t like them because they are a bunch of arrogant men who think that they are unbeatable and they “knew” they were going to win but in baseball you can never “know” something because things change in the blink of an eye. The toughest road to the world series defeating the top 2 teams of the NL Central, defeated the #1 seeded Dodgers, and defeated arguably the best astros team in history on the road. Still amazing baseball!

I don't think the ramifications of what happened last month have fully sunk in yet. That was one of the biggest upsets in baseball history.
Me either man. I don't even watch baseball much and I'll only check out the Nats in the postseason. But this has got me watching their regular season highlights on youtube. I'll prob check them out during the reg season next year too. They need to make the right re-signings and keep the right people.

This is exactly why you have got to love MLB postseason. Everyone has equal chance. On there day anyone can knockout anyone else. In NBA its almost a forgone conclusion that the top 3 team in the league would almost always win the finals.
I remember reading the baseball standings on May 23rd of this year and seeing the Nationals 4th in the NL East at 19-31. I thought 'Man the Nats playing terrible so far' meanwhile Bryce Harper & the Phils actually were leading the division, & at that point I bet a lot of us thought that was how the NL East would be decided. Little did anyone know....how the Nationals would gradually turn their season around, gradually move all the way up to grab the lead in the wildcard race, & yet even folks like me still kinda had doubts about the Nats considering they didn't exactly have a winning pedigree in the postseason. All those years when the Nats were the favorites only to fall flat in October. But THIS year....they entered comfortably as 'underdogs'( although they finished the reg. season on an 8-game winning streak, perhaps that should've been a sign that things would be different this time. ), rallied to beat the Brewers in the WC game, upset the Dodgers in the NLDS, swept past the Cardinals, & finally went the distance vs the powerful Astros & took all 4 games down at Minute Maid Park & won the Series in 7 games. Amazing run! And a lot of the older guys on the team that had come over from other organizations, or were cast aside elsewhere, they all came together and brought home a title back to D.C. Yeah, just like Bryce Harper said would happen, right folks? ;-) Anyways, Congratulations to the World Series champion Washington Nationals!! Just goes to show once again that anything really CAN happen in sports, no matter how much some folks( myself included )might not always think it can be possible.

My thoughts exactly. Even though it took a while for the Nats to start winning back in 2012, their fans have remained humble and have been loyal to the team since they came to Washington in 2005.
Ever since beating the Yankees in the 2017 ALCS, Astros fans have been flat out obnoxious and the team as a whole took the Nats too lightly. It's not a coincidence that Houston went from being 29th in attendance during their first year in the AL (2013) when they were terrible to 12th this year. Most of them fled after Biggio retired.
I'm happy for the Nats. Who would have thought DC would win championships in back to back years (Caps and Nats) after being constantly labeled as a city that chokes?

As a white sox fan, and all Chicago fans in general, we know the pain of championship droughts, and the elation of victory after a long drought and the hundreds of millions of fans that never got to see their team win the big time, it makes the reward of winning so much sweeter.

This is why Peter Angelos of the Orioles was the only owner to vote against the nationals being founded. I’m happy for strasburg. He carried this team when they were bad and he hid the stench of a historically bad bullpen. it shifted when he decided to go no less than 7 every start and they started winning. Next thing you know we start doing the baby shark, get Hudson and he turns into chad Cordero (nats original closer who had 46 saves in the inaugural year and was amazing until an arm blowout. Haven’t had a closer since) and can’t stop winning. They were winning despite mad max being injured. They were winning TOGETHER. This fan base was set on fire by the summertime and the ballpark got louder and louder. You just had that feeling from june and so on. Then when the Braves beat them again, we thought it was over but the Nats AGAIN shut us up and got to the wild card. Everything that happened after only shocked the rest of America. To DC they’ve been champions since they came back 6 runs to the Mets in the bottom of the ninth in September. Nothing could beat these men’s spirits. I will never as long as I live stop telling the story of the 2019 nationals even if they win ten in a row. Nothing will ever top this group of special players.
Now i can die happy after Nats win World Series.

Good thing about the Nationals was that there was no 'I' in team. Any player in the team would've won the MVP. Rendon, Soto, Kendrick and Scherzer would've been the MVP but in the end, Strasburg won the World Series MVP. Congrats to the Nationals!
