  • GREAT PERFORMANCE OF AN OSMONDS CLASSIC IN HQ.
    There's a message floatin' in the air
    Crazy horses ridin' everywhere
    It's a warning, it's in every tongue
    Gotta stop them crazy horses on the run
    What a show, there they go smokin' up the sky, yeah
    Crazy horses all got riders, and they're you and I
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses
    Never stop and they never die.
    They just keep on puffin' how they multiply.
    Crazy horses, will they never halt?
    If they keep on movin' then it's all our fault.
    What a show, there they go smokin' up the sky, yeah
    Crazy horses all got riders, and they're you and I
    So take a good look around
    See what they've done
    What they've done, they've done
    They've done, they've done
    They've done, they've done
    They've done
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses
    Crazy horses

    A riff like Zep meets Purple, horns like Chicago, and dance moves like the Jackson 5. This performance has it all, I can't think of a single thing wrong with this song. Funny how Kiss came out a year later doing those coordinated bass/guitar moves, huh?

    This song is amazing with the wild prog keyboard slides, gritty lead vocals, chunky riffs, a groovy guitar solo and cheesy yet delightful dance moves but the real winner in my books is the bassist with that wild fuckin' scream any 80's glam metal singer would be proud of!

    Their mistake was, this is the genre they should have started with, instead of the teeny-bopper bubble gum music. If they had originated as a legit rock band, they would have been around a lot longer. Who knows, perhaps even till today. I confess, I was completely blown away by this performance. Didn't think they had it in them, in fact, it's a lot better than a lot of the simple minded junk the music industry is putting out today, and has been for the last 20 years. Hat's off to you, Osmond's. Good job, really good job.

    I went down the rabbit hole tonight and had no clue that the Osmonds were such a multi-faceted and talented group. They could do barbershop, then heavy metal rock, then soul, the list goes on and on. I think the biggest problem was their clean cut, squeaky image than most of not ALL radio music programmers HATED. After hearing this song I find it unbelievable this wasn’t in heavy rotation on AOR outlets-and why it doesn’t qualify for “classic rock”. Jesus- this is some hard ass shit!! Rock on, Osmonds! Shame as this and the excellent Hold Her Tight showed they had the riffs and musical and songwriting and musical chops to have done so.

Got to go backstage and meet them! Got an autograph from Donny and I gave him a kiss on the cheek! 💋 Good Ol Days!

  • @JRNelsonSr

    All these years I figured they used a Stratocaster whang bar to get that horse whinny. Growing older I find it was Donny using a pitch bender. These guys were always capable of doing more than their reputations would let them get away with.

    • @bobpierce115
      @bobpierce115 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree with you JR. They're obviously very talented musicans that can do hard-enough rock while still keeping the kick-ass melody in tact without it ever turning into "noise". I like all kinds of music, but it can never be noise (like rap & hip hop--ugghk).

    • @nordvegfigg7746
      @nordvegfigg7746 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The pitch-blender was to give Donny something to do on the song. His voice was changing (which is why he doesn't sing on the song). Someone came up with the idea of the pitch-blender whinny to start the song off with a bang. And it gave Donny something to do.

    • @GreenManalishiUSA
      @GreenManalishiUSA 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Compared to other 1970s keyboard players, Donny Osmond was no Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman or Jon Lord. But he did get a pretty iconic sound out of that pitch bender.
