- This is for all those Star Trek fans out there. This panel features William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy from the Original and it took place at Dragoncon, Atlanta, GA in 2009. Stay tune for parts 2-4.

This makes me miss Leonard Nimoy big time. He didn't let the fame of Spock get to his head at all. I loved how humble he was and how brilliant he was. He played that character with everything in him and I respect him for that. RIP Leonard. And..sad that he and Shatner had a falling out before his death. Thanks for posting this funny convention. These two are hoots together. And I love this. I didn’t like the Takei and Shatner feud either. I want to kind of know what went on with that.
Update: did manage to meet Shatner at STLV. I didn’t get a photo with him or anything, however I did manage to see his panel: he spent 1 hour and 45 minutes talking about himself!😂 The one cool thing he did talk about: his first space adventure! 😁👍🏻🖖🏻

I love these guys. It’s almost over now, but Original Star Trek and its actors have had a legendary run.
I just found this treasure. It absorbed me so completely that I forgot Leonard Nimoy had left us. It seemed like such a now conversation that I scrolled down to see if it was super recent because it reminded me of something that happened at GalaxyCon in Minneapolis in November 2019. George Takei's table autograph table/booth was located next to William Shatner's and when they announced Bill was done with photos and would be heading to his table in 20 minutes, Takei and his entire entourage hopped on one of those courtesy shuttles and zoomed away in a bit of a huff, made more dramatic by the cape George was wearing! :)
So funny! These guys have such chemistry.
It is a shame that Nimoy was mad at Shatner. Watching a video on it one day, Bill seemed genuinely mystified as to the why. Watching them here, it seems Shatner has a real love and respect for Leonard. I love them both.

Bill didn't miss anything, by not seeing the new Star Trek movie. I was not impressed. the only good scenes, were with Leonard. RIP in peace Leonard.

WHY WASN'T WILLIAM SHATNER IN ANY OF THE NEW MOVIES!!!! OR SHOWS. No matter how much they try to erase the affect of William Shatner's Kirk, and the Legend that character has become, and the affect William Shatner has on the old Star Trek and all the original cast movies, they can't. That's why I don't watch them sh!ts. Never giving the die hard 50yr fans what we want. Depriving us of last Star Trek shots of Kirk and Spock before the death of Leonard Nimoy....those bastiches!!!!

I'm surprised at how passive aggressive Nimoy is here with Shatner. Nimoy barely lets him speak and keeps making digs against Shatner. It might have gone over at the con, but it doesn't age well. Shatner comes off better than Nimoy, and I wouldn't have suspected that.
It's sad that Nimoy died HATING Shatner. They didn't speak for the 5 years before his death. And both admitted that their relationship was over in Interviews. It stemmed from Nimoy refusing to do Shatner's documentary and Shatner secretly recording Nimoy's convention appearances and putting it in the documentary without his permission. So George, James, Nichelle and Leonard ended up hating him.

You say that they didn't speak for the last 5 years of Nimoy's life. But the clip we are watching was filmed 4 years before Nimoy died... so... I'm calling bullshit on this.
@@alastaircrosby9682 I just watched Shatner in an interview with Meredith Vieira here on YT, and he himself says it was 2 years. And that he wrote a note to Leonard asking why, but never got a reply. So, were the reasons what Guitarboy wrote above?

Shatner said that in the years prior to his death, Nimoy refused to return his phone calls and no one could tell him why. He said he didn't feel he would be welcome at the funeral and sent his daughters instead. He said he was heartbroken at being cut off by a dear friend of many years.
What Shatner doesn't want to talk about is what he did that got Nimoy so angry at him. When Shatner produced a documentary called "The Captains Close Up" in which he interviewed the actors who played captains in Star Trek, he begged Nimoy to participate and Nimoy refused. Shatner then had him secretly filmed at a convention, sure that he could get round Nimoy and get him to allow the footage to be used. But Nimoy had always had a thing about being filmed without his consent. He had gone to court over it and over the unauthorised use of his image. He had objected strongly and publicly to the circulation of the famous "Star Trek Blooper Reel" which everyone else laughed off. Shatner should have known better. After he found out what Shatner had done, Nimoy never spoke to him again.
It may have been also that Nimoy's debilitating final illness made him run out of patience with life-of-the-party extrovert Shatner.
When Nimoy's son Adam produced a memorial film about his father, he asked Shatner to participate and praised him for the wonderful help he had given him.
