Gilbert Kalish is a wonderfully empowered interpreter of the many masterpieces by Haydn. Haydn is too marvelous to believe!! His compositions never fail to demonstrate the facility and expansiveness of the performer's technique. Polished and well-honed musicianship buds and flowers in each of his compositions. Haydn's easy and many changes of keys never cease to amaze me. In this Sonata, although I enjoy the niceties of each movement, the final Allegro di Molto pleases me most. Because, it is...FAST!! No, that is only one reason. The speed shows off the facility of Kalish who is thereby empowered to relax and let 'er rip in cleanly executed runs and delightful accidentals. Bravo!! Bravo!!
Lithe and lovely! Beautiful Sonata played with ringing tone on great piano which allows for delicate nuances of tempo and dynamics. Thank you for sweet expressive performance by talented and well-practiced pianist. Clarity of trills and other ornamentation is wonderful!! Thanks, David.
