    I mix herbs for myself and family and would like to add to your video that if the ingredients you are using are organic the immune system builders that blends of herbs in teas have is enormous, especially if mixed in pure chlorine free water. Great video. I have never mixed a blend just for tea before. I think I will try it.

    I grew up on chamomile, peppermint, fruit tea ‘n such. I agree, although single flavored tea taste wonderful, a stimulating, felicitous tea-combination is just heavenly; especially while living sustainably.

    How do you dry them without getting any mold.

    • @CLOVER71932
      @CLOVER71932 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      to avoid mold youll want to avoid moisture.
      so dont dry the herbs in a closed container because the moisture that's leaving them has to go somewhere. dont dry them in your house, many houses have more moisture than we think and it can also cause the herbs to stink a little. what i find helpfull is drying them in a burlap sack or any breathable material that doesnt perspire, hang it in this sack outside on days with low humidity. then once desired dryness has been reached store it in an airtight container, preferably glass. and make sure to leave room in the jar, so dont stuff it full. i do about 4/5ths full. the space is for air to stay the growing of mold. but know that this is not an indefinite storage way, and if you have too much space in the jar, the herbs can go rancid quicker. i hope this helps

      @@CLOVER71932 dehydrator boo

    • @diannethomas100
      @diannethomas100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dehydrate mine and store them in glass jars with lids, and add a moisture-absorbing packet (available online, I get mine on Amazon). Also 'condition' your dried fruit for a week before long-term storage: fill a jar (with lid) 1/2 - 2/3 with your fruit (or whatever you're drying) and shake it several times a day for a week. If there is condensation in the jar at the end of a week, give your items more time in the dehydrator. Better to be too dry than not dry enough; it will rehydrate when you make tea.

    • @BecomingSustainable
      @BecomingSustainable  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      depends what you have access to and what you like. I dehydrate regularly seasonally. My favorites to use are dried blueberries, strawberries ( I cut them into slices before I dry them) and pineapples. Let me know what you try and how you like it...

      nice - so when you grow your own herbs - NO unnatural fertilizers, you don't want to poison your body.
      You can blend any edible herbs or edible flowers that you are drawn too, experiment and have fun; if you are not sure - look it up on a reliable site to check.

    what would blend well with stinging nettle

    • @BecomingSustainable
      @BecomingSustainable  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lemon verbena, lemon balm, peppermint or other herbs that have a pleasant flavor - try and experiment and let us know what you found that works best!

    • @deanna4814
      @deanna4814 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank you I like the benefits of stinging nettle but I can't really stand the flavor so I was hoping to find a different verb to mix with it

    • @BecomingSustainable
      @BecomingSustainable  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have a favorite herb or flavour? Try adding it.
      Also you could blend it with kale, fry it up in a little butter, add a little salt and pepper and end up with a savory.
      It's also a good additive to soup - make your favorite, chop up the nettle and add it as another veg to the stock.
      The health benefits of stinging nettle are amazing, these are just a few ways I add it into my diet now ....

    • @deanna4814

      I've just heard mixing different teas can be beneficial but at the same time certain things can't be mixed is that true with stinging nettle
