This game was made with a combination of hard work and drugs. "How about a guy needs to find a job?" "How about a sumo wrestler needs motivation to win?" "How about a barber needs motivation to succeed over his rival?" *3 joints later* "....... How about.... a werewolf goes on a date?" "...... Um.... aliens. And shoes. Just... aliens wearing shoes."

Honestly, I think it's really impressive that, in spite of how bonkers the premises get, Ouendan 2 also retains a very cohesive theme of pushing through times of personal struggle. Characters often face problems that don't threaten their lives in and of themselves, but pose such a substantial threat to their happiness that resolving them becomes their one and only priority. Even when the threat they have to confront is Meowzilla or an island full of demons, the protagonists aren't technically required to put themselves in danger, since what's actually being threatened to start with is their life's work or their pension. Even so, they always rise up to the challenge - because a life where they don't wouldn't be one worth living. Why, yes, I did BS my way through literary analysis in school. How could you tell?
Man I remember this ending sequence in hard-mode absolutely MURDERING me for a lot of tries. But once i got the hang of it it became my favorite sequence in the whole game. One of my favorite stages! Thanks for the video!

CM = Commercial / Advertisement. And the lady IS his wife. She just used the pronoun "daddy" to address her husband and I translated it literally, since they have a child and "mommy"/"daddy" are how married couples with children in Japan occasionally call each other (as in, her kid's daddy, not her daddy).
Something I will never get is how this guy, and three cheerleaders, are able to survive being on the most _boiling_ planet in the Solar System. I'd be liquid in seconds trying to sell shoes on Venus.
