I can remember a massive forklift truck in Mostyn docks in North Wales decades ago. I went there with a tractor and trailer to pick up some fertiliser that was coming in off the boats. I swear now, those rams where the size of my waist! I asked the driver what weight it can lift. He said officially 22 tons. Unofficially he reckoned 28.

Soil flaps after first row of disc’s good idea stopping soil overspill
Good video as always Andrew, and Pleased to know you are on the mend and it wasn't as serious as you thought. The soil on your farm is ni very good order, it was nice to see so many worms which help breakdown the soil. It amazes me how nowadays that by increasing pressures on pumps and valve you can get so much more lift and increased output.

Am capped to bits with your Alsatian dog, so nosey, or is it a good learner. Needs to taste every plant on the farm too. any job, small or large, its there with its nose in haha.............I was just thinking in the video when you mentioned the rubbish had just been sprayed off, where's the new sprayer, seems a long time since order was put in! fingers crossed for you all goes well with it when it finally arrives.

Another great video Andrew, with regards to disc drills. Vaderstad rapids are fantastic, on a a further note can not recommend Cambridge Farm Machinery enough for used vaderstad machinery, they take in used kit an fully rebuild it like new for a minimal cost over new cost price and the machinery we have brought from them has always been done fantastically.

If the Solo cultivation wasn’t impressive enough you also have English (Grey) Partridge! Is this a result of your cropping methods as having grown up with Greys in Hampshire in the 1960/70s and which are rarely seen now it is wonderful to see them there.

I was going to suggest a single row of straight discs to go on the 8rx in combination with the freeflow instead of another drill?
I'm sure it could be mounted on the front tombstone if needed or the rear links, especially with the computers on the rx it could lift the arms and semi fold the discs for headland turns. Or maybe a row of straight discs mounted on the front beam of the freeflow?
That is an idea. They have a name for them that I can't recall now, but I have seen them mounted on a xerion ahead of a drill.
Now that I recall they were track compaction breakers. Only worked in the track lines ahead of the drill.

Can front linkage be fitted to the 8rx if you want to put disc harrows on the front while drilling,or is 8m, testing things to the limit
I think one can be fitted but we wouldn’t.
I thought you measure a ram by the size of the chrome stanchion? The bigger the stanchion, the bigger the pump needed?
I was told by New Holland to measure the tube, not piston.
Does the 9.90 have a bigger footprint to carry a heavier/wider header?
