  • Ways of charging the Bluetti Expansion Battery
    In this video I show all the ways that you can charge the Bluetti B230 Expansion Battery including with Solar using Bluetti’s D050S DC Charging Enhancer. I also show how you could recharge the B230 without the D050S via solar ( in a round about way by cheating a bit! ). At the end of the video I will unbox the D050S DC charging Enhancer and show you the included accessories.
    Keep in mind that this video benefits people who have the older Bluetti Models like the AC200 & AC200P and want some extra battery storage with adding a B230 or B300 Expansion battery as some of the newer units like the AC200 Max can recharge the B230 Battery as well as itself when they are connected together!

    Good video, but I think you missed a possibility, here.
    I don't have a B230 yet, but in theory, you should be able to charge it from the AC200P via the 12V port, while also using the AC200P's greater PV input to charge it at the same time.
    It wouldn't be quick, but I think it would be simpler.

      Interesting idea indeed but keep in mind that pass through charging on your Bluetti will shorten the batteries cycle life’s, so I wouldn’t want to charge a B230 using the pass through charging with the AC200P’s Battery!

      @@PrecisionGroupYT I'm not sure what you mean. A load is a load, and either the battery is charging, or it isn't.
      As far as I'm aware, once the battery on the AC200P reaches full, the unit becomes just an inverter/transformer, and Bluetti intended it to function this way.
      The solar input can either handle the entire load, or the battery can supplement.
      Max solar input is 700W, IIRC, and the D050S can only take 500W.
      As long as your solar input is above 500, simultaneous charging should be fine.

      @@piccolo7806Unfortunately the Bluetti ounce it is 100% charged if you put a load on it it pulls directly from the Battery and will only accept incoming solar power ounce the Battery % falls below 100%…..this is (pass through charging) as the battery at this stage is being charged and discharged at the same time but when the unit is 100% it will not take incoming solar input and send it directly to the load it will only charge and discharge the battery while running a load (which is pass through charging) I hope this helps you understand!

    why are you trying to charge the B230 separately? just leave it connected to the AC200Max and it will get charged anyway at the 510w you are getting from the solar panels

      Hi Shane I don’t own the AC200 Max I own the prior model the AC200P which was released prior to Bluetti making the Expansion Batteries so the AC200P does not communicate to the AC200P model and it can not charge the B230 battery via solar when connected to the AC200P thanks. This is one of the main reasons I made this video was for people like myself that own the prior models to the AC200 Max the Ac200 and Ac200P which can use the expansion batteries but can not communicate or charge the expansion batteries directly but since I already own the AC200P and it does a great deal of what I need and given the expense of purchasing the Max I needed a solution to add more power to my backup Solar Powwr system so I purchased the B230 like many others who have the older models! Thanks!

      No, that doesn’t work! Using solar input, if the charge on the AC200MAx is greater than the B230, the AC200MAx will NOT charge the B230! It even says that in the Bluetti manuals (but none of the sales literature!)!! According to the manuals, the only way this works is to put the solar input into the B230 (using their or a DIY voltage step up), and then the B230 charges the AC200Max. Of course, then you are limited to the max wattage into the B230 (500W?) rather than the 900W of the AC200Max. I’m boondocking and somehow the B230 got drained to close to 0, while the AC200Max is charging (currently 60%). What a RIPOFF - when I’m back on a better grid, I’m going to insist that Bluetti ship me a D050S for free (and perhaps reimburse me for spoiled food, cause i can’t charge at 900 but only 500W …), and threaten to mention in as many reviews as i can what a RIPOFF this is …

    Since they are charging a ripoff $200 for the dc charger I would just get a step up or step down MPPT as needed for my panels and wire up a 8mm plug or whatever they use into the battery. Those MPPT step up or down controllers are only $45. I use one to directly charge my 67.2V ebike battery from one solar panel by stepping up.

      Luckily I got the DC Enhancer for free when they had a sale last year on Halloween 🎃 where if you purchased one B230 Expansion Battery you got the D050S for free…..which they later tried to say that was only if you purchased 2 B230 expansion batteries and not one! But luckily I took a screen shot of the Coupon and after a 2 month email battle they finally did the right thing and gave it to me as the promotional coupon said! But I will definitely look into the MPPT step down! Thank you again!

      Yeah. It really seems like this "charge enhancer" is nothing more than a voltage step up converter with NO solar MPPT. I suspect you are very correct in that it would be much better to get a voltage step up or down (as needed for your solar) solar MPPT controller (capable of nominal 48 volt output).

    Can you link more than 1 b230 and if the battery is connected can you use the dc expansion adapter to the bluetti and the battery having its own enhancer while being attached to the unit? Basically can you use 2 enhancers to add an extra 1000 watts of solar while battery is connected to the bluetti?

    • @PrecisionGroupYT
      @PrecisionGroupYT  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From my understanding yes you can have two enhancers attached to each B230 battery ( one enhancer per B230 )

    I have the 200p and would like to get the expansion battery. Can I charge with solar into my 200p and when my 200p is fully charged will the b230 start to charge after or does it charge at the same time?

    • @PrecisionGroupYT
      @PrecisionGroupYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately the AC200P does not communicate with the B230 and it can not charge the B230 with Solar input into the AC200P. In order to charge the B230 battery with solar you will need the D050S DC charging enhancer to put up to 500w of Solar into the B230 to charge it. When the B230 is connected to the AC200P it will put in about 560w of charging into the AC200P until your AC200P is 100% charged and then the AC200P will not take in any extra power from the B230 as it won’t if you had solar coming into the AC200P as when the AC200P is at 100% it does not allow any more power to come in to prevent overcharging! I would think of the B230 with the AC200p as a way to put in the equivalent of about 560w of solar into your AC200P when it’s been drained down a bit to charge it back up a bit so you can run a load longer! I hope this helps and that I didn’t confuse you!

      @PrecisionGroupYT If you were off grid and wanted more power, would you go with a battery like the b230, or would you buy another solar generator?

    • @PrecisionGroupYT
      @PrecisionGroupYT  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Primonotion that is a tough question as I am not sure what your needs are! For me we are pretty frugal when it comes to most things especially power usage, my initial reason for getting the B230 to put with our AC200P was when we went through Hurricane Ian we realized that the 2,000wh was not enough in a crisis to comfortably run our Deep Freezer and Refrigerator so I wanted the extra capacity to be able to charge when the Sun is out and abundant and store that energy. Now while you could purchase another Solar Generator like another AC200P or like we decided with the Bluetti AC200Max do to their recent Easter Sale ($1,699) we have a few items like our TV and TV box with a Hard Drive ( that we use one of our Bluetti’s to watch TV every night…now our new AC200Max with the B230 ) that if one Solar Generator is running low we Can’t just quickly unplug it and plug it into another power source as the TV box’s hard drive takes time to reset and reconnect. And while that may not be an issue for some it is for us. I approach our Solar Power from a prepper type mind set and I know that there may be times throughout the year that you can not charge as well do to different seasons or less than idea weather conditions so when the Sun conditions are good I can take advantage of that so I like having extra capacity ready to go to supplement these issues! Now at present as I’ve stated we have both an AC200P, AC200Max and the B230 so if either Solar Generator needs a boost I can use the B230 to give them a boost and add to there run time! So in short to answer your question I would go with extra capacity first and then look at adding another Solar generator down the road so I can use two units to run more things to help save more money to offset the costs of our investments in our off grid Solar system(s)! Hope this helps!

    • @ebikecnx7239
      @ebikecnx7239 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes you can overpanel and exceed 10A. You cannot exceed the Voltage. Amps are only drawn to a maximum of the device, here 10A. Like someone drawing water from a big well. You can have more water than needed (Amps) in the well, but the person cranking the pump can only do maximum rate of pumping before they run out of power in their arms and the extra water is not used. You need to look up electrical draw. You can have one million Amps available but it will only draw 10A.

    Can I charge the B230 with Generator via wall socket?

    • @PrecisionGroupYT
      @PrecisionGroupYT  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you mean with a Bluetti AC/DC wall charger (400w/AC200p or 500w/AC200Max) then yes! If you meant a gas or diesel generator then with the correct Adaptor so you do not exceed the B230’s max DC input of 58.8v (8amp) I suppose you could but more than likely you would want to use a Bluetti AC/DC charger plugged into a 110-120V wall socket on your generator to charge the B230! I hope this makes sense and that I answered your question!
