  • In this EXPERIMENTAL PROJECT we use a 6 lbs motor DIRECT SHAFT that could delivery 25 kw at 100 VOLTS , but we use only 17 kw at 66 volt so the motor produce less heat . we also use 6 or 9 LITHIUM POLYMER BATTERY 16 AMP 22 VOLTS . 3 IN SERIES to got 66 VOLTS x 2 OR 3 in PARALLEL to obtain 32 AMP OR 48 AMP , autonomy is aproximatively 1 hrs 10 min . this video is only for demonstration of the modern technologie . YOU SHOULD USE LITHIUM BATTERY very CAREFULLY because with such power they could be very dangerous and even can EXPLODE if not used minutely . only very experienced ELECTRONICIAN OR ELECTRICIAN using top quality battery , connector , switch , controller , ect . some battery are more safe than other one , So extreme care should be done with such big power used there .This project originated from ,Sept-Iles , Quebec , Canada , summer 2016 (DO NOT FORGET TO LOOK AT THE OTHER VIDEO) thank , Louis • SEPT-ILES , VOLER EN ...

Thanks for sharing. I used to fly with a mosquito like harness for many years, many great flights across Australia. I used to get about 2 hours flight time from the tank, about 300fpm climb rate in cool smooth air. How does that compare with the elec version you have? I'm guessing one challenge is having a battery large enough for good flight time but not excessively heavy.

It is a really nice set up that you have made.. I am really interested in knowing more on how you adapted the electric brushless motor on the Mossie Frame. It would be kind of you to share your experience regarding the same. Any photos of the same would be appreciated.
You have mentioned that the Discharge capacity of each cell is 15 C. You are using 3 cells in series i.e 22.2 * 3 = 66.6 Volts. Each cell is 16 Ah . You have mentioned that the discharge rate is 16 Ah * 15 C = 240 Amps.
But you are also using 3 of them in parallel. This makes them 16 Ah * 3 = 48 Ah . This would ideally make the discharge rate as 15 C * 48 Ah = 720 Amps. Am I going wrong with this. Pls correct me if i am wrong.
You mentioned that a 25 C or more rated battery is better. Will this high C rating be better if you are using on 16 Ah setup so that you will have a peak discharge of 16 Ah * 25 C = 400 Amps.
Please share your expert opinion on the same .

WE START WITH AND OLD MOSKITO HARNESS ,I JUST CHANGE THE MOTORISATION TO AN ELECTRIC MOTOR , BUT BECAUSE WE WANT TO HAVE A DIRECT DRIVE WE HAVE TO MAKE SOME MODIFICATION OF THE FRAME TO ADAPT THE NEW ELECTRIC MOTOR , AND SHORTEN THE SHAFT , I CUT THE GAZ THANK WITH A GIGSAW TO PUT 6 LI-PO BATTERY IN IT , I SEND YOU SOME PHOTOS . , FOR THE SAFETY RED BALL THAT WAS THERE TO CUT THE POWER , WE ELEMINATE THE WIRE THAT WAS GOING TO THE CARBURATOR AND REPLACE IT BY A SPECTRA CABLE ATACHED TO A MAIN ELECTRIC WIRE THAT IS DISCONNECTED WHEN WE PULL THE SAFETY BALL . I WILL PRODUCE A TH-cam VIDEO SOON TO REVEAL HOW WE DO IT
      RE
HERE IS ANOTHER PTOJECT 12 YEARS AGO , IT WAS AN ELECTRIC WINCH WITH 4000 ' AF SPECTRA LINE . ON IT . IN THOSE TIME WE GO UP TO 2300 ' IN LES THAN 45 SECONDES , AND SOMETIME HIGHWER WIT A SECOND STAIR WITH THAT WINCH .

Amazing. I am thinking about making something like this. I have few questions. That is the weight of this (and how much is weight of the batteries)? What climb rate can you achieve(not peak but for several minutes) and for how long? I would like it just to climb few hundred meters, then fly in thermals and keep some reserve in the case a can not find good landing place. (like e-lift). Thank you

FOR THE BATTERY , I CAN ONLY GAVE SPECIFICATION And concil . i do not want to sell or take responsabilite for such powefull battery , the buyer of such battery should take all the informations , have a good maintenance and the appropriete charger balancer, and hold a log book to check every cell of each battery after each use to discard immediately a defective one for safety . some new battery have special construction to prevent a short or surcharge , so the buyer should take all the responsabilite for the maintenance and the safety of using them . we make more than 20 flight before the big winter here in northen Quebec . without incident , we hold a log book , and we decard one battery because one people slipped it to ground and one cell look litle bit crush . i already work on another project , more powerfull , for an electrick trike or electrick paramotor . i have a trusted MOTOR CONSTRUCTOR THAT MAKE MOTOR FOR ME for my special need .
