- ✤ Hi everyone!!!
✤ Welcome to “True Ag & Turf” ✤
🚜 Hey everyone, Mitch here from True Ag & Turf! Today, we're comparing the Massey Ferguson 1835M compact tractor to the John Deere 3039R. Both powerful machines boast similar horsepower, but let's dive into the differences that set them apart! 💪
The Massey Ferguson 1835M features a larger engine for more torque and power and an all-metal hood for easy maintenance and superior durability. Its common skid steer style hookup makes using various attachments simpler. Standard mirrors, rear work lights, and extendable 3-point arms enhance functionality. The Massey also offers greater hydraulic flow (19.4 GPM vs. John Deere's 14.4 GPM), enhancing performance. Refueling is easier with Massey’s ground-level diesel fill.
Massey Ferguson provides a 5-year powertrain warranty, extendable to 10 years, ensuring long-term peace of mind. Take advantage of 0% financing for up to 72 months on these tractors this Spring 2024! Join us as we explore why Massey Ferguson might be the better choice for your farming needs. Watch the full comparison and see the moments of truth!

I own a Massey 1529 with 28 HP made by Iseki, and a John Deere 4720 with 58 HP. I use them on a vegetable farm. I got the Deere to use for my heavier work such as tillage and mowing, and the Massey is for cultivating, spraying, and planting. Hands down the Massey is the better machine. Parts are less expensive, controls are easier to understand and use, and overall a much better value than the Deere. My next tractor may be a 1835 with cab if I decide to get anything else.
No contest - Massey
Great video. I believe the MF 1840M cab will be “the one” for me. I want to run an offset flail mower and top n tilt so the primary deciding factor for me is the ergonomics of the cab, specifically the location of the rear remote control levers. They’re up high on the fender so when you’re turned around and making adjustments to the mower they’re easy to reach. You’re not reaching down by the seat in some awkward position. I’ll probably use the one factory remote to run a hydraulic multiplier with the electric switch mounted in the cab. That way I can control however many cylinders I want. Also, the MF has very high hydraulic flow which is why they have somewhat low PTO HP. But that’s good for running hydraulic implements like a PHD on the FEL. JD needs to revamp their entire compact tractor line and get rid of their proprietary FEL attachment system to be competitive anymore. Thanks for the vid.
I have recently looked and compared those exact two tractors. I have never owned a Massey but have had two John Deere’s with no problems. However, there is NO comparison between these two. I my opinion Massey Ferguson was a much better heavier built tractor. Now the question is the dealer? Which dealer will take care of me the best?
Great News! We always recommend buying from a local dealer. The closer a dealer is they can be of better assistance in a time of need. Stuff happens and a local dealer is always needed!
If you have multiple dealers close then I would absolutely ask them about their service and what they offer for inspections, availability to help at the times you are operating and need them. If their staff is trained on the product you are buying and what their willingness is to help on warranties. Often travel time is not covered under the manufacturer warranty, so another reason to utilize your local dealer!
Excellent comparison. I have owned two JD 3 series and now have a MF 1840M, the MF is clearly the superior machine. I wish he had compared the MSRP of each, the MF is many thousands less $.
Thanks Dan! We are happy to hear!
I think the power shuttle is the best of both worlds in transmissions. You get more power to the ground and pto with the ease of clutchless directional control. The massey is a heavier tractor also. If you're going to push, pull and lift, you need a heavy tractor .
A Power-shuttle Tractor is An Expensive-Way to "Build a Tractor"; this Is WHY they ARE the BEST. ( l have all Four types of "trany's" on different tractors) + my MF Power-shuttle is the BEST!
7:37 can you finance on the new Fendt ideal 10t for the new ideal with that stick steer @true ag and turf?
The Ideal combine does have finance options
thanks
I highly recommend anyone watching this video to go watch other videos on compact tractors. This is mainly just marketing gimmicks and biased opinions. Never trust a dealer to tell you the whole truth.
Thanks for watching, John! We are a dealer, but the numbers stated are specific numbers that represent horsepower, gallons per minute and other functions of the tractors. The ease of servicing is fairly obvious as well.
I agree, many you tubers review tractors that are not associated with a brand. with that being said I would rather have the Massey over a over priced under optioned Deere.
