This is a good tutorial. It's my 1st time tatting, and I am going to enjoy learning more. Thanks for sharing, I appreciate the slow motion, it helped a lot.
Omgosh I watched so many and could not get it...I wish I would of watched you first! You made it so easy! And thanks for the slow motion!! Made all the difference in the world! Looking forward to your other videos! Thanks again! :)
Thank you SO much! I subscribed! I've been thinking about trying tatting but couldn't find a tutorial that made the process (particularly the end of the ring!) clear. You did it beautifully. I just ordered needles. Once I master that ring, I know I'll be watching the rest of your videos. You're a good teacher!
Thank you so much for sharing!!! I never ubderstood how to knit but I can crochet. Seeing how to tat. makes sense how to knit now I'm going to buy tatting supplies and knitting needles thank you!!!!
Hey Maria.. On impulse I thought I'd give this a go as I'm a bead weaver. But thought it may be too complicated to even get excited about. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for a stunningly informative and easy to follow video. I'm definitely trying this now and will follow your other videos as well. Brilliantly set out. Always in shot. Simply taught. Thanks so much Maria x.
THANK YOU!!!!! Very easy to understand instructions. I have wanted to learn needle tatting for a while, because I twist my thread so when shuttle tatting, and also just to have some options on the more difficult stitches. This is the perfect start!
Thank you. I liked that you went slow and that you had the written information on the video it will help in learning to learn to read the patterns later.
Thank you for taking the time to make this vid and post it!!! I've wanted to try needle tatting for some time and now you have made it soooooo easy!!! Thank you for inspiring me to try again!!!!
Can I just say that all of the tatting videos showed how to make the stitches but not how to close them and so I am so thrilled to find yours since now I understand how to "work things" to make what I want. By the way the kids in the background.... Perfect :)
Thanks so much for sharing. I finally learned how to do it! I hadn't attempted it before b'cuz it looked more difficult than it really is. Definately liked & subscribed!
How fun is THAT!!! Thank you so much, Maria, for doing this. Now I can tat! Who knew? Can't wait to watch more of your videos so I can start making things! Love and blessings from Atlanta ;o)
Thanks so much! I found written instructions for the double stitch and ring, but you made the ring different. I could not get the ring to work with the written instructions I found, and there is not much about needle tatting to find. I understand NOW how to form the ring. thanks again and I am going to check out your channel.
Hi Maria I really like your tutorials. I'm a beginner n hope to become good at this. I was wondering if you have any tutorial on tatting with a shuttle. I had a hard time finding the needles, but finally I got them online at Hobby Lobby.
Hi maria, i am so impressed . Your teaching is so clear n understandable. I hv not watched a video like the way u show. Thank you very much. But maria i am a sri lanka we dont find tutorials or books here. It will be much appreciated if you can send me your tutorials or book to continue. I want to start a self employment. Pls will u help me.
Hello! I have a lot of tutorials on TH-cam. You can co to my channel and browse and see other videos. The majority of my tutorials are my own creations. I do not use books. I seen some books for sale on Amazon. Good luck starting yourself employment business ;-)
wow thats kind of cool i always thought those things where crochet but this is very similar to crochet but its not your using those long needles now i understand what the purpose for some of the long needles are for tatting its called nice
I did the ring what do you do from there do you have a video on that that shows what else to do but I got my ring my little poop and now I don't know what else to do you have another video on it and I'm just learning how to do this
Yei Trina! you did it! here is a link to a tutorial on how to make a simple butterfly Needle Tatting Butterfly also here is a link to a tutorial on how to make a chain Needle tatting chain I hope this helps you :-)
Hi Maria I'm from Puerto Rico i tried to learning. I watched your videos. But I have a problem with the tread. I want to know if i have to cut a big piece of tread.
Hello Maria, I have a question, I am working on a tatted doily that is all rings. The pattern says: All motifs have 6 rings, then it says SP 1/2 " leave a length of thread between the rings< what does that mean? Tena Britts
Hello Tena! Here is a link to one of my tutorials. This tutorial shows how to leave some thread in between rings. th-cam.com/video/NHzS3mngTOQ/w-d-xo.html let me know if this help 😉
Hello Rachana! I will try to put up a video about joining picot and reverse tatting soon. Thank you for your comments ;-) Happy New Year!!! here is the link to a video on how to do reverse work Needle Tatting reverse work for beginners
Great video, very clear and concise. I have subscribed. One question, I thought tatting was done with a shuttle, a little plastic arrowhead shaped thing. Am I confused? My grandmother tried to teach me to use the shuttle but at 9 years old, I wasn't getting it.
try watching this video and see if it answers your question if not let me know ;-) th-cam.com/video/mNqdbvGKecUh/w-d-xo.htmlttps://th-cam.com/video/segy4D-Robo/w-d-xo.html
that is a hard question heheh I think it depends on what you are looking for. I love crochet and Tatting the same. There are things you cant do with tatting but you can do with crochet and the other way around :-)
Maria Papia Excellent question and answer. I was learning tatting thinking it was a lot easier because it looks like the pattern take a lot less. But perfect answer for my own question!!
I have a beginner question.... your finished product shows 5 double stitches.... then a loop, then 6 double stitches. Am i counting a loop and a double stitch for a picot?
Hi Shirley ! When I made this video I was not trying to show a pattern I was trying to show just a simple ring. I am sorry if I confused you. I made that video long time ago and I am sorry if there is a mistake on it. I will go back and add an annotation. You don't count the loop (picot), you count the ds after the picot. So you do 5 ds then a picot then 5 ds. I hope I was able to answer your question.
Im confused with counting in the pattern so i just watched and counted to try and straighten out what i was doing. when you do the picot, is that counted with just the loop? or is the next ds counted with the picot? So a pattern calling for 5ds 1p 5 ds would have 5 or 6 ds after the loop....
Hello Shirley ! Ok so the loop (picot ) is just a loop it does not count as a double stitch. For example 5ds, picot 5ds. So you are going to make the first 5 double stitches and then the loop (picot) to finish the picot you need a ds so you count that one as one then make 4 more ds for a total of 5. I hope this answers your question.
Yeah!!!! Thats what I needed Maria!! You are wonderful to my ADHD brain!!!! Sorry so complicated for me.. and that answered perfectly what was messing up my count!
Hi can you please tell me from where shall I buy these tatting needles, actually i tried on net as well as on local shops, but i am not getting. Thanks
