I’m glad yall aren’t spouting too much hopium. I think it’s dangerous to get people’s hopes up. I’m applying this year with a 4.0 and a 155. I’m applying to some schools lower down in the rankings and my top school, which is UT. UT seems to only accept people with an LSAT over 160, so I’m applying, but I’m not getting my hopes up. I’m being realistic. If I get in, that would be amazing. But I’m probably gonna attend another school instead that will give me a good amount of scholarship money.

How the heck do you get into a top 14 law school when competing against students who come from schools (such as Harvard or Yale) where their grades have been inflated to A's?
Harvard College grades have risen significantly in the past 20 years, per a newly released report presented at the first Faculty of Arts and Sciences meeting of the academic year Tuesday afternoon.
The report found that the percentage of A-range grades given to college students in the 2020-21 academic year was 79 percent, compared to 60 percent a decade earlier. Mean grades on a four-point scale were 3.80 in the 2020-21 academic year, up from 3.41 in 2002-03.

Law schools receive an academic summary report within your CAS report that provides a few different metrics: First, it provides the GPA distribution of undergraduates at your institution while you attended. That provides the admissions offices (and they do look at this) insight into whether the school inflates or deflates grades and where you stand in that distribution. Second, it provides the LSAT distribution of students who attended your undergraduate institution going back to 1991. That provides further insight into your academic ability relative to your peers and alumni, which is especially helpful if your institution inflates grades.
It's an unfortunate situation, I know, but remember to control the things you can control.

@@LSATDemonThank you for the response. So it sounds like this is a well known issue the academic community as to which schools hand out A's, and other schools (like UC Berkeley) that make you earn your A.

There was an interesting story in today's New York Times about how important test scores are for leveling the playing field in undergraduate admissions. Schools use the LSAT similarly in law school admissions. Don't give up just because you have a lower GPA. A good LSAT goes a long way.

    My GPA is 3.3
Good enough to escape splitter status? Lol

There aren't many schools with a GPA median that low. But you should still get plenty of scholarship offers if you apply broadly with the right LSAT.

Not if you apply broadly with the right LSAT. Check out lsatdemon.com/scholarships for our best estimate of your scholarship chances given your GPA and LSAT.
