I know this is an old video but dang that bike is sharp. I love modifying Harley-Davidson’s.but they’re only stock once. That being said this restoration is really beautiful.

I have a 1972 FLH I did a frame up in 89. I did as close to factory original as I could. Other than the leather saddle bags I use but I have the factory bags. My bike runs great and looks great. I will keep it until I am gone. I still ride it but I did buy a 2002 FLSTC to ride I was afraid my 72 would get wrecked. I like my original buddy seat but my wife is not fond about it.

I used to have a 1983 FLHS shovel. Sounded just like this one. Best bike I've ever had. The way you'd enter a highway, hit it hard in 3rd and shift to 4th. I just felt it was the best feeling in the world. Like the shovel and I were one. At the time, I didn't know what I had. Sold her off to pay off a damn visa debt. Wish I could have her back. She is still in my dreams.

My dad had a 1970 Electra Glide also. When I turned 17 he let me start riding it. I guess that’s why I have always rode dressers.

    I love my 1972 flh
I have probably collected every brochure that was made and in a dealership in 1972. Fully dressed with tour pak, batwing, bike weighs 722lbs. 1972 was the first year of the front disc brake. It was deemed the Cadillac of motorcycles back then. Also back in the day playboy magazine refered the sporster as the corvette of motorcycles in their ads in playboy. The Electra glide was later called king of the highway. Ya can't knock it until you ride an old rumbly big dresser. It's a one of a kind feel in life that every man should experience. Non like it!! He got a clean one here!! She's a beauty!

We used to ride FLs, FXs and Xls all over the States and never thought a thing about it. Then came the "Yupsters" and TT" (Tavern to Tavern), drivers. The Motor Company worries about future sales to enthusiasts, they should take a look at this FLH. When it idles, it still runs on two cylinders. And, you don't have to rev the crap out of it every time you ride under an overpass.

I was riding with a guy, he had a new bike, I'm on my 67 ElectraGlide, at some point we get to talking, he tells me what his job is, I tell him mine, and he says, so you make good money, I said yea I do okay, he says, so you can afford a new bike, but you'd rather ride an old one, I say of coarse, he didn't understand.
I'd take the 66 in the video over the 70 every time.

The Great Peter Egan wrote that a GOOD motorcycle is one that you can replace every part on it. Burn a cam bearing on a GW. You will love the repair bill. It doesnt hurt to "pre-oil" the engine on the starter motor with the plugs out (and grounded) on the starter motor after a long winter's sit.
