Nice one Shaun, superb weather that Sunday, a bit early for these biking places season has not started a lot of them having seasonal number plates as well. I went to the Motorrad Messe Dortmund it was busy as hell and bloody expensive 19 euros and 9 euros too park the car. bikes free👍.
    Regards Glenn.

Saves quite a few quid when having the plate for 6 (out of 12) months only.
Also, pencil pushers don't like "fresh" weather, they don't want to destroy thei carefully maintained Teint 😂

Hi Shaun, good to see you out on the new machine, looks good, seats and bums, very difficult subject and very personnel,no two are the same yet seats are the same for all shapes and sizes, by personal choice is the sheepskin , used them for as long as I can remember and they work for me, have you given it a go? Can be bothersome when doing a lot of wet days in the saddle , with a bit of care they last quite some time, enjoy your Triumph and the trip to Ireland, steady on the Guinness. Derek

Comfort comes before looks surely, my fleece is not fastened on so when I park up I pop it in the luggage, would not be without it now, borrow one and relish the comfort☕️, cheers.

Hi Shaun, how are you finding the sports screen. I replaced my standard screen with a Puig touring screen due to wind noise and buffering. It’s better but not great. I’m wondering if I’d be better off with a small screen and just having clean air ?

    • @thelikeablerider8800
      @thelikeablerider8800  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I actually liked the standard screen in terms of functionality, I only replaced mine with the small screen purely for looks! Having said that, the small screen works fine so worked out well👍😜

Hi Shaun, you mention that you are off on tour to the WAW Ireland in May this year and no doubt you will be passing through the Bera Peninsula WAW section which is down South West Killarney way. I know you have said that most of your days are planned but there are a couple of lesser known remote single tarmac mountain routes that are literally a “press of the indicator switch” just off the main WAW and in my 8 years of riding the south west waw , they are right at the top of “must do list” especially now that you have the tiger ! I don’t do Facebook so is there any way I can send you this “insider intel” for your South West section of the WAW ? Mike

Think I'm around that area on day 4! I've got a hotel in Glengarriff and making making my way up towards Killarney over the Gap of Dunloe. I'll only be doing parts of the WAW as there seems to be some good stuff inland. Not sure if it's similar to the NC500, where at some points I got bored of riding the entire coastline, and wanted to see something different?

@@thelikeablerider8800 Hi Shaun , there are many single track routes around Killarney/Kenmare area, but I have short listed just 4 and will post the one by one instead of one long reply. I have done them all both on my XR and my current Multistrada v4s so all good for your Tiger. They are all close to Glengarriff but if you feel you are pushed for time, then pleae make sure you do Priest Leap . I cant post google map links so have given you a couple of route directions and hopefully you can look on google maps and see where I mean.
Preist Leap - Its always best started from the Balleylickey end. So From glengarriff go south only 7.4 miles on the n71 WAW towards BallyLickey ( no not Bally Lickey as pronounced like ball ! )and turn left towards Coomhola L8984 ( just before N71 crosses river Coomhola) , follow road for about ½ mile and turn left just before the bridge, then 1st right sign posted Priest Leap , then have fun !! Depends on which direction you are heading that day so once you reach the summit you can either carry on down the other side or just turn back the way you came

@@thelikeablerider8800 Allihies Copper Mine track- part of WAW and Allihies tin mine- From Glengarriff for WAW R572 for 10 miles and turn right at sign for Healeys Pass. Do Healeys moutian pass until end and turn right on WAW R571. Follow R571 WAW for 11 miles and turn right on R575 signed Allihies and still part of the WAW as an “option”. Follow stunning hilly coast road until you get to Allihies take 1st L4904 , about 500m there is a steel container, turn left and look up and you will see copper mine ruins, follow very tight twisty track to top. If you are feeling brave the track turns into just gravel and goes on for 2 miles and brings you back down on R575, otherwise turn back at gravel

Barley Lake is a hidden lake at the top of a mountain and has a single tarmac track to the top with a couple of tight hairpins, but never any cars on it, Its 5 minutes from glengarriff or go to top of the Caha pass on WAW . See google photos Barley Lake and map
Mount Gabriel , 2 miles from WAW near Schull. Highest mountain in area and has radar domes on top and there is a single tarmac access track all the way to the top, great views
These you can look at on google photos and if you like you can decide if you have time as they are still all close ………………….
Ballaghbeama Gap , 10 mins from Molls gap. Plus Cloon Lake which is 5 mins from Ballaghbeama Gap
Ballaghisheen Pass 10 mins from Ballaghbeama Gap

How low does the adjustable ride height go?
I worked in Germany for a while and at that time I had brought a tiger 900 rally pro (obviously being short with 29 inch inseam i choose the tallest bike) i rode it to Munich and back from Northamptonshire twice, doing one of the trips in one day 800+ miles in 15 hours. Absolutely loved taking it out at the weekends to the lakes and over the mountains into Austria.
I also took it to Odense in Denmark twice while i was working there and did a one day ride back in 19 Hours.
I think the tigers are fantastic comfortable bikes and although I did part ex it for a speedmaster now i am back in the uk, i would definitely have considered a 1200 if they hadn’t bumped the seat height up

I'm looking at that Zumo in that heavy Touratech mount, bouncing around. I'd be worried about breaking the plastic bits it's mounted too. It's not designed to support that much weight. It was only designed as a windscreen handle. If I were you, I'd look for a lighter locking mount or see about mounting it to the handlebar clamp. Check out My Global Ride. Touratech did that for him.
Enjoy the bike. I've got the same one, but in white. Amazing machines. 👍

By the sounds of it the Ireland trip will certainly confirm if the bike is comfortable for long hours on the saddle. The handlebars and cockpit look like mission control! I think it's a common problem with all TFT screens that they become blurred quite quickly. 😉

With the T plane crank it does sound like a twin, as a big twin fan that’s no bad thing. Very different from the normal Triumph triples but the Rally is too tall for me, might try the GT next time in red. Well I do like my Multi V2S and the V4S is expensive as is the ugly new GS, and I’ve already had three of them😆.

The ony other negative is that when you go to a proper Irish Pub and ask for Guinness, you wont get it straight away as they pour 1/3rd and let is stand then another 1/3rd and then finallly the last 1/3rd , by which time you are truly drooling for it . Apparently, Triumph have sold 45,000 of these already, seems VERY popular - people I think are crying out for something other than a GS that isn't three tonnes... ;) :( Köterberg Brattie wagon people lost out BIG TIME on all that business... what's wrong with them!!!??? ;) :(
