    Thank you!
Q: My fig tree fell at the end of spring and it was full of beautiful leaves and fruit buds. My father in law advised my not to lift it and just let it be and the fruit grew and was amazing, but some of the branches were touching the ground. What do I do now, it's the beginning of Autumn. I want to prune it, just not sure what to do with it being on the ground.

Excellent advice. I do, however, have a question for you. I noted that your fig tree had a single, what I would call, a sucker growing from the roots/soil around the base of your tree. I have a brown turkey fig, and it has numerous "suckers" growing from the same area. Would you advise the removal of these, or do I leave them to grow on..? Many thanks in advance.

      Hi
@user-uf8pl6br9t , you can leave them if you want - we discussed this in more detail in the latest episode of the podcast (episode 30) - hope that helps! -Sean

Thanks for this video. I have a young fig which I bought last year as a bear root plant. As I will be moving in a few months time I have kept it in a large container. I over wintered it in my garage. I am not expecting fruit. It is growing good new leaves. As it only has a main stem and a couple of branches I guess it doesn't really need pruning. I do wonder however, how long I can keep it in the container. Would it be OK for you another year or so?

Yes, will be fine in a pot as long as you keep it fed through the summer. You could also prune to encourage more side shoots. Martin
